I seriously can't think how a game can' get better than this. From the moment I saw the images and videos the first time, I was hooked! I had the chance to play it like 6 years later than release and in PC emulator because I never had enough for a SNES (computer was my father's) and it beat almost anything I played before. If I had to choose one 90's game it will be these.
@Plummlets Yes, Samus was never outwardly rebellious, and she certainly wasn't naive.
But the gameplay was confusing. It was like it couldn't decide if it was a first person, third person, 3D platformer, side scroller, shooter, RPG, Etc. Etc.
Also, Samus is a bit different than Boba. She has an appreciation for all living things (except Space Pirates and Parasite X), and instead of fighting for money, she fights for peace and justice.
@Plummlets Also, My friend and I joke about Samus and Boba meeting in a space time continuum, hunting each other, blowing up each others ships, teaming up to fight off a horde of enemies, eventually falling in love, getting married, and having awesome babies that can each singlehandedly beat a squad of US Navy Seals in hand-to-hand combat at the age of five. And Chuck Norris is their godfather.
@theringman77 Don't worry about it (though I get why you feel the need for the "don't hate me", the internet is not a pretty place a lot of the time).
I overall agree but I still feel that the theme is good. It serves its purpose and is without a doubt an iconic theme that identifies the series. I don't find it scary now but I probably would have if I'd played it as a kid and though this version (and the one from Fusion) is short the original version and those from the Prime series are longer.
@DarkPikaruto you're definitely right. i believe around the time this came out that game companies started realizing just how much they could do with the system and there was a huge jump in how amazing they looked. games like secret of mana and final fantasy 3 came out soon after, i think. honestly, i kinda wished that the N64 hadn't happened as the SNES was booming *cringes and shivers at the rememberance of early 3d*. of course, we'd have missed Golden Eye and Mario 64.. which were great.
damn. ive never played the early metroid games. but whenever i see this intro it gives me chills. xD mostly the ppl lying on the floor dead though...epic music (:
I always get the chills at 0:30

@GodOfQwerty, I liked Other M's gameplay...but didn't care too much for the story. lol
I always thought of Samus as kind of a female version of Boba Fett XD
