Tosas are not man eaters, they like many other large breads are only dangerous in the wrong hands.

Tosa are "sumo" dogs. they were bred for sumo type dog fighting. they are wonderful watchdogs and make a great canine nanny to the kids, but can be agressive to other dogs. they don't mind cats and other creatures that much ( My Tosa, Kuma, was a serrogate father to a kitten) but as long as you mingle them with other dogs when they are young, you should be okay. they are vary intelligent and adore training. just make sure you escersise them regularly, or pent of energy can become aggression.

are these dogs mean..how can u be around one and not be scared to death..i ask because i would really love to have one of these dogs..how much are they? and would u recommend having a shock collar on him at all times just in case or is that completley uneccessary? which are better japan's or americas?

like 5000 bucks a puppy they can be mean to other dogs but usually not to humans there better bred by japanese but theres japanese breeders in america

The American tosa is bigger the japanese tosa is slightly smaller and more refined, but it tends to have more medical risks.
