no you just have to understand its just a different class of weaps that are popular for close quater combat for low recoil and being compact. They do use small caliber ammunition than rifles (pistol ammo like 9 mm, 45 cal, etc.) but remember a gun can kill even with a extremely small caliber like a .22 LR so dont call sub machine guns useless.
@joefig10 Nooo they're extremely useful. They don't over penetrate in buildings and they typically have lighter ammunition and lighter recoil with a bit more knock down power. The reason lots of law enforcement agencies use SMG's is because they're lightweight, handy in doors and don't tend to kill perps, but they'll knock them down. Plus with appropriate ammunition even an Mp5 in 9mm will have plenty of stopping power and have a really high rate of fire.
lol think 15000 is allot one of the origional .45 ACP lugers (serial numbers 1 and 2 1 was destroyed in the us army tests) will cost you a cool million if you can conince the owner to sell you one
Hang on there a second the .308 cal. isnt an MP5 at all its called the G3 and thats an Assault Riffle that was designed by West Germany during the cold war and was fielded till the G36 was introduced
Wow. I don't own a gun yet, but the way you guys go about explaining the features and capabilities of each weapon it makes it seem easy to maintain and operate most guns. I watched the youtube vids of the SAS with the MP5, they use it to great effectiveness.
oh oh oh I know the answer to the question and i'm only a minute into the video! the MP44 was designed to incorporate the Fast fire rate of an SMG with the accuracy of a rifle, however it fired rifle rounds, so it couldn't be considered an SMG, therefore the ASSAULT RIFLE was born. then Kalashnikov came and expanded on the idea, and eventually the US adopted the M14 to replace the aging Thompson/M1 combo.

I hate how the host of the show narrarates every single weapon he comes into contact with like it was built by God himself. Also they don't go into very many detials with many of the weapons, they describe them so a 6 year old wouldn't get confused.
