@mastermaddison Your assertion is completely false. The writers of the original music wanted Liza Minnelli to play Sally in the 1966 production, but nobody else wanted her as she was "too American." When the movie came around, they were able to secure her in the role. Liza is the not the ideal Sally, but the project was always meant for her. And honestly? The musical and the movie may be different animals, but they're both spectacular.
