i havent done wanna these since i messed up my knee and couldnt walk for like two days -____- i blame my mom for wanting me to show off in gymnastics class xD
@nopeanutcoveredapple I am having the same trouble! I try everything I guess I will work on getting more height and more speed but I am also learning it on my own with no help so it makes it a lot harder :p
@nopeanutcoveredapple I am having the same trouble! I try everything I guess I will work on getting more height and more speed but I am also learning it on my own with no help so it makes it a lot harder :p
whip you leg around fast: be very dynamic in pulling it around..you also may not be getting enough height on your take off..really push off your front leg!
Hey there, you just have to practice it but you can try from a higher level (low beam or block) first. You have to add more speed when on floor, everything has to be dynamic. Good luck! :) keep at it
all your life, lol, but that's not very long!! don't give up, determination & practice and proper coaching will help you get it. are you in gymnastics or tumbling classes?
you should really try to find a gymnastics club to practice on a safe surface...and with a coach to spot you. That will help you get the feel for the move with less fear.
hey i've watch a few vid n the man says instead of jumping down like a cartwheel, u actually jump UP at an angle, then bring the back leg and the body down at the same time, n my frens told me 2 swing my arms downwards, but it seems like ur actually not swinging ur arms downwards at all...argghhh, i'm so confused...o btw i like ur aerial:)
Thanks :) reach forward when you spring off your lead leg & whip the other up & around fast enough to get underneath your body...enroll in gymnastics classes with a coach to help you for safety
aw thank you! I could try to do a tutorial, not sure how helpful it'll be though, it's always best to have a coach technically correct you after seeing how you do it. Are you in classes?
cartwheels are a great start! If you get really good at them, try with one hand, get that mastered, then with the other, ...you can also try walkovers (bridge, then kickover), etc... also, if you have the right technique, try the aerial starting from a higher surface(block) first, onto a softer mat which is placed lower..also you can try on a trampoline first so you get the height/momentum you need & you can feel the movement(speed of the kicking leg) required.
make sure you kick your back leg over quickly up & around, then bring it back down quickly and stand back up fast..has to be done faster than a regular cartwheel..keep working at it, takes time :)
Running more will just give you more vertical momentum, not so much for height. Try taking just one or two skip/hop steps before, then do your big arm circle ending in reaching out in Front of you(keeps the chest up more, that helped me the most with height). Really push off the floor Hard with Front leg and kick the back leg Up, pulling it around fast. It's a move that I find takes a lot of timing & technique, and practice! Keep trying!
Blocking converts horizontal momentum into vertical momentum, so running into a trick can give you increased height, it just depends on how you transfer the energy when jumping.
i teach kids acro at my dancing and they get their aerial cartwheels by not running so far and fast and just flicking hard :). the main thing is to push off that front leg!
that's right, you do not want running, a one step hurdle is plenty...yes flicking the rear leg is necessary, however you need more than that to get over...you need to really push off the front leg AND keep the chest up.
Try to reach out in front of you(towards the opposit wall) with your arms; out in front instead of down, that will keep your chest & upper body higher throughout the rotation, giving you more time to pull your landing leg over.
It may take more than a few wks, depending on how much you train...keep practicing, it's all about technique & timing...you can check out some good tutorials online that may help.
cool, my legs are kinda bent when i do my aerial though. check out my channel plzz everyone!

@mojsije1234 there is no fear if you really comfy with doing one-handed cartwheels you'll go so fast you have time to be afraid and stuff :p
do it on the grass... same thing IMHO :)

Can you please do a tutorial for this? All the tutorials that I found are really good, but not helpfull. And you have a really beautifull Aerial

Not really :$
It's really hard to find a school that teaches that here in Portugal. I just do cartwheel's and stuff... I wanna do something else you know? ^^

I have trouble getting air also...
It often scared the people who happened to watch me.
but people are telling me to run more for more height and do arm circles. However, I tripped doing that and yeah...
So any other way you can help me to get more height?
turtle0423 3 years ago

Blocking converts horizontal momentum into vertical momentum, so running into a trick can give you increased height, it just depends on how you transfer the energy when jumping.
nexislex 3 years ago
absolutely, however most do not block properly, and correct technique is done without a run, and just a step or hurdle.
I've found that regardless, the best aerials are done with proper technique and speed of the back leg kick, as opposed to momentum from a run.
Thanx for your input! :)
