who wants to pay 20 to 35 percent extra on what they buy? what a nightmare rich people will use company accounts while poor people will get screwed. this is the worse tax idea ever. you want to talk about inflation. this is an absolute nightmare for people with limited buying power. poor people will never be able to buy commodities. the government will fix the price on everything bought and sold. talk about a gov. expansion into the business sector.this is plain dumb on a huge scale!

What's wrong with taxing everybody the same %? Why punish people for succeeding? (i.e. taxing the rich) Why not treat everyone the same, not giving handouts to poor people and taxing-to-death people who've actually worked hard to get 'rich'? You do realize that you would get your ENTIRE paycheck with the Fair Tax? Unless of course you enjoy having no control over the gov taking taxes out of your pay stub. You did do your homework on this, didn't you?

um, there is a provision in the fairtax that everyone will get a prebate check every month for taxes on basic necessities up to the poverty level. This means that essentially the poor, who are at the poverty level and below, will not pay any taxes at all!!!

the rate is %23 and once the fairtax is enacted the 22-25% embedded tax will be removed from all goods and services in the country meaning you will be paying about the same for the product that you are paying for it now, except you get to keep 100% of your check and get a prebate from the govt. every month $525.00 for a couple with 2 kids. it's a no brainer. read the book, read the bill sir!!!

Under FairTax, businesses would be more likely to get audited (instead of auditing out of 500 million income tax filings, they'd only have to audit out of 50 million businesses) - so anyone who uses a corporate account to by themselves items at wholesale price would be stupid.

Also, there would be no sales tax on used items. So anyone could totally avoid paying taxes simply by purchasing items 2nd hand. This is not only fair for low-income people, but it also helps items maintain their value longer. Essentially, this is just a tax on materialism.
