  • Dick van Dyke, master of improvising

  • Love how Dick van Dyke runs out of the scene when the dancing gets more spectacular.

  • You can manipulate me old bamboo any day of the week.

  • I can appreciate Family Guy bringing people here, especially after reading ace's comment, but I do wish more people would've known on thier own. Not only is this an amazing dance but the movie in itself was absolutely beautiful. I don't think people should dislike musicals before they actually see the movie. The plot in a musical can make all the difference. I know that this movie and this dance will always have a special place in my heart.

  • Love the guy who drops his cane in the left corner... 0:29

  • one of the best dance/musical I have ever seen. I have watched chitty chitty bang bang quite a few times...its really a fun movie..

  • @gangster17031 Yeah, that's like my favorite part of the clip! xD

  • i can't believe he was in his 40s when he performed this

  • i can't believe he was in his 40s when he performed this

  • Dick Van Dyke was Really wirey and in good shape when he did this movie,

to be able to move and jump like he did was really something,

  • is it me or this song going slow!-

  • I love when Dick Van Dyke does these dances in his movies

  • I love this song!!!!

so much fun to listen to when you need to hipe up!

  • I for one was not a fan of musicals and therefore never saw this movie. However, I am huge FG fan and I was so impressed by the "Bag of Weed" song that I searched tofind what it parodied. Thankfully I saw this amazing clip and the even more amazing routine.

So for those who would want to attack FG for using this song, just remember that there is the flip side to the coin which is that people like myself do want to see the original after viewing the parody.

  • I just think it's lazy. It's one thing to slightly parody old material to create new media. It's just plain lazy when you depend almost entirely on material that you have to pay THOUSANDS of dollars in royalties every time they use the actual unaltered material. I haven't laughed an episode of Family guy in like 2 years. Namely because alot of the pop culture is completely out of context when used. I prefer he subtle parodies of the venture brothers. Family guy has just gotten predictable.

  • But isn't it a good thing that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's creators get thousands of dollars in royalties plus more fame than they had two years ago for this routine and song? BTW, it might be a stylistic choice that FG uses "out of left field" pop culture cutaway gags. Everyone's sense of humor is individual.

  • @ace11rothstein

i totally agree with you, this is just advertisement for the original

  • @ace11rothstein I completely agree. Musicals are generally not my cup of tea and I've never seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. If it hand't been for FG's parody I would perhaps never have seen this lovely number.

  • @ace11rothstein And let's not forget "Shipoopi" either! LMAO.

  • I thought the Family Guy version was funny. The joke is for people that know this scene. I love this movie.

  • nice

  • Funny thing is, more people know this new Family Guy version now than the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang version, which was released in 1968. Shame, as well as interesting. I have mixed feelings about it. Definately a great but grossly underated movie, I guess you can say it's sort of an honor to catch the eye of such a more popular show. Still don't like the involvement of drugs in it though.

  • Involvement of drugs in what?

  • Family Guy. I was responding to Hero3128. They based one of their most recent musical pieces on Me ol' Bamboo during an episode about the legalization of marijuana. It's called "A Bag of Weed" if you want to check it out, but don't expect much on YouTube. Family Guy clips are very often removed by YouTube.

  • How can somebody just pick up on a dance they never even practise? XD

  • 2:25- 2:40 is my favorite part out of this dance XD the whole thing was fun so was Toot Sweets =D

  • always makes me the laugh the american take on the british accent!

Big brother lot did pretty well but charlie was not so good as everyone thought he would be!

  • i thought he were gonna be awesome, but you know.. :(

  • A gentleman's got a walking stick A seaman's got a gaf And the merry men of Robin Hood They used a quarterstaff On the Spanish plains inside their canes They hide their ruddy swords But we make do with an old bam boo And everyone applauds 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Hey Me ol' bam-boo, me ol' bam-boo You'd better never bother with me ol' bam boo You can have me hat or me bum ber shoo But you'd better never bother with me ol bam boo. that all i know lol !!!
  • Big bro housemates have to learn this!!

  • Ahh, i love dick van dyke i remember watching him in mary poppins and chitty chitty bang bang, and then watching diagnosis murder on days off from school! Was on after neighbours i think?!

  • I have to say that I am appalled by all the idiots who think Family Guy's 'bag of Weed' came first. What kind of a childhood did you people have, did you never see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

  • Aw, lighten up, man.

  • Wow, so much energy.

  • This is the original...

the one you are on about is the cover!!!

  • I hope you are kidding - Me 'ol Bamboo was written specifically for the 1968 movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Family Guy parodied the song as "A Bag o' Weed". I enjoy what Fanily Guy does with the classics...

  • @RayC123456789 famaly guy sucks for that. they also parodied the- some one to care for

  • Family guy's 'bag of weed' was a parody this is the original you stoner jerk!

  • It's true.

  • best dance EVER

  • It's tied with "Step in Time" from Mary Poppins.

  • This is definitely my favorite song in that movie. Unfortunately, it's also the one I always forget about...

    TT 3 TT

  • thanx for posting this

  • i swear im sooo used to hearing Dick Van Dyke with a british accent!! lol

does anyone know if he is going to be in night at the museum 2?

  • Yes, he is going to be. I can't wait. ^_^

  • That accent was never British!

  • Yeah, but I don't really care and I don't think anyone else who's watched the film does. The accent is part of the charm, what the the accent is exactly.

  • Not strictly true. Charming or not the accent is still a national joke amongst a certain generation.

  • This is my favorite song from that movie <3

  • Thank you for posting this. It's a fun dance to watch and yeah, you can see that it's not an easy task. Dick Van Dyke is really great.

  • i have to perform it in theatre REALLY HARD

  • that dance could be very complicated , however if mastered u are successfull it winds up like this.. even dick van dyke had to master it :)

  • I wanna learn the dance for the talent show

    D=

  • love this scene :D

  • love that dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
