Hey Ramekin, I've been watching your videos for a while now. First off, great videos, man! Got a quick question for ya! What are the gear requirements to enroll in the MSF Course? Is it full gear; Helmet, Gloves, Boots, Jacket, and Pants? Or just helmet gloves and jacket?
you need a vicious tuck to break 100 on a 250, once i upgraded to a CBR1000 i could tuck 100 mph in third gear. i spent 6 months on my 250 before upgrading, heavy bikes are amazing to ride...
So i was thinking on getting a Ninja 250R for the summer, ( which is right around the corner.) Is the 250 a good beginner bike? or not really? ive heard a couple of different things about them, such as "they are too slow" which is quite obvious compared to a 600cc. So what would you recomend, 250R or a ZX6R? thanks
still riding Ninja250? nice ;) are you thinking of moving onto 600+ ? ive been riding my 250 for a year and i kind of want to move on, but too lazy to sell/buy new bike!
@TheExoticGod I hear if you do more than 20 mph over the limit its a misdemeanor or w/e and you CAN go to jail for that and your bike/car tower and impounded for 30 days!
@SuYehChea bullshit man. your are either lying OR your speedo is wrong. I know mine always shows +7-8 extra MPH ( brand new 250 09 ) these bikes cant go over 100...
I agree with KFOXX, I dunno how much more you would have really gotten out of it but my shoulders "wag" if I'm sitting up past 75 or so. So lying on the tank may ensure a smoother, more pleasant experience! Ride Safely/ Wide Open MC
Hey - Ramekin. A couple thoughts/comments.I dunno how long you've been riding but I'm sure your gonna get used to that 250 pretty quickly, as far as speed and power are concerned. I started on a GSXR600 - jumped to an R1, then went to a CBR 900 which suits me perfectly. I had some work on the CBR9 - it cranks. Bottom end and top speed are superb. In my opinion, the R1 was too torky, just not necessary. Lastly, ALWAYS USE HIGHWAYS TO TOP OUT, for safety's sake. PS 85mph is 2nd gear on my 9, JSYK
@eeezymoney I agree. I have a 2012 ninja 250r. I hopped on my bros cbr 600 the other day. More than a enough power for me. Big difference in handling and power.
@PublicWifi Sorry to burst your bubble... but the pre-new-gen ninja250's (prior to 08) had several issues with their speedometers. If you google "ninja 250 speedometer error percentage" you can find a calculator to find out how fast you were actually going. More than likely you were topping out right about where I was too. Sorry mate.
@iamramekin There's a variance of up to 10%. I've done a few exhaust mods, nothing fancy, along with rejetting. Also, the gen1's are faster then gen2's.
@PublicWifi Yea, I've heard that argument several times and have never found it to be the case. Had a friend with an old school ninja who claimed his was faster on the low end, but the new ones were faster on the top end. I beat him on both sides of the spectrum with my 2010.
And I've pulled away from the newer ones likewise. Although, I don't recall the year (08-11, obviously) What's more, the speedometer inaccuracies aren't limited to (what I call) gen2 Ninja 250's. I'm still working on a decent GPS mount. I enjoy your vids, keep them coming.
You know, the more you think about it, Having a 250r that can top out only at 91-93 is perfect. It's not like you can legally go past 70mph without getting a huge ticket anyways. Cheap on insurance and cheap on price. perfect!!!
cheap mods to make higher top end, you'll scrifice your acceleration however, go down a couple of teeth on the rear sprocket and up a couple on the front... or vice versa, for a faster acceleration...
Back when I had my 08 ninja 250r It's top with me was 105mph my weight is 150 and I'm 5'6 lol I miss that little bike so much. My 03 R6 I just topped it out today at 150mph scary as shit my helmet was pushing into my face rofl.
I've been to an indicated 110mph. I weigh about 135. With my girlfriend on the back of the bike we are weighed down another 130 pounds or so and I notice a HUGE difference and a lack of acceleration. I can still get the bike up to speed, but I doubt it would be able to do 110. I was doing 110mph into the redline though so I was fully pushing it the hardest it will go.
Its not all about top end really is it, I used to own an old cd250 with a full rickman fairing that on a good day would hit 90mph though it only had 85 on the clock, your bike looks good and Im sure handles well too so enjoy it :))) Ride Safe
@iamramekin yeah fixing to say, they honestly do not cost much. plus people always do something and decide they dont want them anymore and you can buy like 08/09 for less than 2,000 like once or twice a month
@oMemzi Really you little bitch! No I didnt, not everyone puts one, so I didnt even look. Way to be a complete shitbag! Next time mind your own fuckin buisness moron.
Hi dude! Brazilian guy here....I was doing some search on the web about the ninja 250r...in the kawasaki store here in my city, the manager told me that the final speed of the little ninja 250r 2012 is about 180km/h (112mph)...wanted to see if someone can prove it on youtube...very nice video, really put to the test!
Just saying, 95 is really fast for a bike like this. You could, as you mentioned, get a 100+ laying down but if you want more speed, why not just get a ninja 600?
@magicmike1122 Small bikes are fun to thrash the tits off, whereas a 600 is more difficult to thrash to the top speed coz you need a longer strip of road to get there.
A 250 is already not too far off the legal limit when it goes for it's top speed so they only need about a 40mph increase in speed until the top speed is achieved.
I got my FZ6 up to 153mph after flogging it doen a motorway for around 4 miles!
Love the EX250R, a gorgeous bike. I had an 87 GPX 250R and I used to ride with a mate who has one of these.
My bike had slightly more power than his ( higher reving 14K ) and a touch more torque I would say. On hills I would pull away from him.
its still pretty much the same engine, but just different tuning ( the new one being more drivable and accessable power, the old EX250 being very peaky )
The fairing on these bikes certainly allows you to hug it, getting your drag down is excellent.
you can get an aprilia 125 to go 166 km/h on a flat road. you were going about 152 km/h. you'd think a 250 would over power a 125. the italians really know how to push it when it comes to speed.
i had my ninja 250 up to 150 but my camra f**ked up dose your bike has a govener on it if your have any questions e-mail me vmvipervm40@gmail.com it might take me a few days to get back to you but i will thanks and ride safely
what is your weight? maybe a lighter person could get it faster. Were you suited with full leathers as well? Was there wind? Going uphill? I would like this info, nice video.
got mine in feb of this year, currently has 15000 miles on it, did aggresive break in, have had it to the max at 120 mph, never had the valves adjusted just regular maintance. It can be done, its all in how you break it in. a racer told me to give it hell during the break in with alot of engine breaking and high revs. it still runs great.
you should have had an instrument to measure your exact speed, just because the speedo says something doesnt mean its true, i was going exactly 100 by what my gps said, yet my speedo read 120, but regaurdless nice vid :D
I have no intention of ever trying this (unless an earth-shattering asteroid strike is imminent), but what top speed do you think a small-framed guy weighing 130 pounds could clock in at?
@RicardoSS85 your brain is way beyond your body.. probably you left it at home when you last went out and now you can't remember where you left it.. I feel sad for you :(.. NO, I'm just kiddin'
@RicardoSS85 me neither, I'm just saying that you are quite an idiot for saying that the ninja 250 does not worth buying. It's clear for me that your experience with riding bikes is equal to zero, most likely you don't even have a bike at all. Ninja 250 is a good bike for beginners and for ladies who start riding.
Morons like you that just jump on 600 cc are the next on the organ donors list. For quite a reason! Before running, didn't you just learn how to walk?
@smart2cry I rode a Ninja 250 in my 2 first bike lessons. Piece of shit. I then learned on a CBF 600 (not that good, but a world better then the 250). I've had, since then, a '99 Hornet, a '04 GSXR600 and I currently own a '09 Duc 848. I go on track days in AIA and Circuito do Estoril at least twice a year. I've had, until now, one accident caused by sand on the road. So, as you can see, when you know what you're doing, you ride whatever you want. When you don't, you ride a Ninja 250.
@RicardoSS85 Well, others might learn a bit slower then you do, and having a 600 cc bike between their legs might be fatal to them. That's why it is recommended, but not mandatory to learn on 125 and 250 and then move on.
even consider maybe a scooter first, then move upto 125cc, then 250cc for beginners, never start on 600cc or 1000cc . people that think its ok are morons, you are missing so many vital learning curves by going straight to 600cc, i heard people tell e to get a600cc for a beginners bike.. they are morons.. noone wants to hang around on a 250cc but we all gotta learnt to walk before we can run.
This is funny because I just realized where you were. I was there this weekend with some buddies for the first time. If it was in a different county it would be perfect spot, just scary up there to me. Good stuff either way. Also message me about where you got the scanner stuff please.
This is to everyone, when im older i want to get a motorbike and possibly this motorbike, are they easy to ride because they look great for getting to a-b very quickly
hey drop a tooth on your counter shaft sprocket and you'll have a litte more top speed and the bike wont rev so high on the highway. i did this on my '08 that i had and it helps abunch. i could do like 103mph on the '08
just an FYI, it all depends on weight. Im 125LB, and i got to about 112mph, but i have a performance exhaust, and a few others small mods. sitting up or tucked=no difference.
From the look of you shadow on the road it looks like you sitting up too high up. you gotta get low and hug the bike for less wind drag. that should squeeze in some more mph
@iamramekin also, what if you were to run over a pothole while going that fast? Can the bike handle that? I live in Toronto Canada, and our highways are full of potholes lol. I can imagine the bike drops and you go flying for 100 meters.
@backlash170 if you want more speed i would just say get a 600 lol thats what i got a 2011 GSX-R600 and i have no prob getting to 160 lol but thats just me and im 5'11" 220
Also 110-115 is going to be buried deep into the red. But all top speeds are always in the red. It won't hurt the bike unless you do it for mile after mile after mile. Also you would need to be tucked in (crouched with your elbows against your knees. Wind resistance makes a huge difference to top speed. If your sitting up straight your body has a huge air brake effect.
Either it is brand new and still needs to be broken in or you were sitting up straight or both. You need to crouch and tuck in with your elbows touching the sides of you knees you will see 110 to 115mph
Wow mrjackasses3 down there just made himself look like a moron!!!! Anyone that really rides bikes knows what I'm talking about so I shouldn't have to explain!!! I got a cbr600rr for my first bike... It's all in keeping yourself in check....
Reason he probably only got 95 is because he hasnt regeared his bike for highway and interstate the bike comes stocked for acceleration not top speed if you regear your bike you can get 10+ more mph on it.
@MrJackasses3 dude do you know why they are riding 250's? THEY ARE BEGINNERS. And shut the fuck up, you dont know shit about motorcycles. wanna know how i know?? No motorcycle goes 300, not even a hayabusa turbo. hb turbo can probably go 250. so stop acting like a hardass when your not, dont even act like a biker when youre not, a true biker would support these people, not rip them apart
@TheDemonStr Ive never seen or heard of it going that fast, id like to know so please show me where u found out. not even a z06 corvette can do 300mph
@Fewstanator the bike in the video is in mph no kmh so you would assume a person would talk about it in mph. The guy just said 300 so i assumed it was in mph, not kmh. So yeah its believable that one can go 300 kph on a motorcycle
exactly i hate idiots that think its reasonable to buy a 600cc or a 1000cc for a beginners bike PML youll be dead.. you need to get the gribs of how a bike handles and works on a 250 cc for a few months or at least a year, when it starts being really easy to max out and handle, then move up to 600cc .. you dont start off on a 600cc thats just moronic.. well you can if you want, but its STUPID lol
@MrJackasses3 You Lying little SHIT...# 1 YOU Wish you had a 1000 #2 you Wish you could EVER even handle the power of a 1000, #3 You wish your little SHITTY 100cc dirtbike could EVER even go past 40 MPH!
sorry for asking if you already answered this question in a video or description box, but is Mr.shakie the dude that lives down the street from you with the black suzuki? haha in the video "The Chase"

You'd be better doing this on a racetrack so you not need to worry about the police pulling you over. Any racetracks in your area?

im thinking about getting this as a beginning bike, and putting a valentine 1 on it.
MeSoHornyMeSoStupid 2 months ago
what is your weight? maybe a lighter person could get it faster. Were you suited with full leathers as well? Was there wind? Going uphill? I would like this info, nice video.

Oh and to answer a dudes question of why a 250? well basically the gas mileage, and why would you need anything bigger?
MtneEMT 2 months ago
got mine in feb of this year, currently has 15000 miles on it, did aggresive break in, have had it to the max at 120 mph, never had the valves adjusted just regular maintance. It can be done, its all in how you break it in. a racer told me to give it hell during the break in with alot of engine breaking and high revs. it still runs great.
MtneEMT 2 months ago
you should have had an instrument to measure your exact speed, just because the speedo says something doesnt mean its true, i was going exactly 100 by what my gps said, yet my speedo read 120, but regaurdless nice vid :D
Basshead215 2 months ago
I have no intention of ever trying this (unless an earth-shattering asteroid strike is imminent), but what top speed do you think a small-framed guy weighing 130 pounds could clock in at?

Why would anyone buy a Ninja 250 is beyond me...

@rizud30 I know, it was ironic. But nevermind, Happy New Year! :)
smart2cry 1 month ago
@RicardoSS85 me neither, I'm just saying that you are quite an idiot for saying that the ninja 250 does not worth buying. It's clear for me that your experience with riding bikes is equal to zero, most likely you don't even have a bike at all. Ninja 250 is a good bike for beginners and for ladies who start riding.
Morons like you that just jump on 600 cc are the next on the organ donors list. For quite a reason! Before running, didn't you just learn how to walk?
smart2cry 2 months ago
@smart2cry I rode a Ninja 250 in my 2 first bike lessons. Piece of shit. I then learned on a CBF 600 (not that good, but a world better then the 250). I've had, since then, a '99 Hornet, a '04 GSXR600 and I currently own a '09 Duc 848. I go on track days in AIA and Circuito do Estoril at least twice a year. I've had, until now, one accident caused by sand on the road. So, as you can see, when you know what you're doing, you ride whatever you want. When you don't, you ride a Ninja 250.
RicardoSS85 2 months ago
@RicardoSS85 Well, others might learn a bit slower then you do, and having a 600 cc bike between their legs might be fatal to them. That's why it is recommended, but not mandatory to learn on 125 and 250 and then move on.
smart2cry 2 months ago
even consider maybe a scooter first, then move upto 125cc, then 250cc for beginners, never start on 600cc or 1000cc . people that think its ok are morons, you are missing so many vital learning curves by going straight to 600cc, i heard people tell e to get a600cc for a beginners bike.. they are morons.. noone wants to hang around on a 250cc but we all gotta learnt to walk before we can run.
quickmantan 2 months ago
This is funny because I just realized where you were. I was there this weekend with some buddies for the first time. If it was in a different county it would be perfect spot, just scary up there to me. Good stuff either way. Also message me about where you got the scanner stuff please.
trdtuner7 2 months ago
you can get higher top end by making the lighter aswell possibly
Pashworth1 2 months ago
I usually top out at around 90 on the freeway on my 250r. I once got it to 105 on a slight downhill and about 500-700 RPMs past red line.

im just gonna get a 600 for my first bike, when i can afford it, ive riden dirtbikes os i think i could handle it.
Fewstanator 3 months ago
You forgot to factor in the rider's weight because that will have a big impact on the top speed.

How in the hell did you use your phone as a police scanner?
videoman223 3 months ago
in a cooler weather you can get the bike up to 105mph cuz i have tried it, but in warmer like hot summer 95 is the max i could pulled.
Island728 4 months ago
hey drop a tooth on your counter shaft sprocket and you'll have a litte more top speed and the bike wont rev so high on the highway. i did this on my '08 that i had and it helps abunch. i could do like 103mph on the '08
RacerDude78 4 months ago
just an FYI, it all depends on weight. Im 125LB, and i got to about 112mph, but i have a performance exhaust, and a few others small mods. sitting up or tucked=no difference.
whysosad1234 4 months ago
my 08 250R maxed out at 105mph.
russianoleg 4 months ago
From the look of you shadow on the road it looks like you sitting up too high up. you gotta get low and hug the bike for less wind drag. that should squeeze in some more mph

@iamramekin also, what if you were to run over a pothole while going that fast? Can the bike handle that? I live in Toronto Canada, and our highways are full of potholes lol. I can imagine the bike drops and you go flying for 100 meters.
iHacksorzz 1 month ago
@backlash170 if you want more speed i would just say get a 600 lol thats what i got a 2011 GSX-R600 and i have no prob getting to 160 lol but thats just me and im 5'11" 220

knash92293 5 months ago 9
my buddy got his bike up to 110 on flat ground. you got ride to redline in every gear.
quadguy112895 5 months ago
Also 110-115 is going to be buried deep into the red. But all top speeds are always in the red. It won't hurt the bike unless you do it for mile after mile after mile. Also you would need to be tucked in (crouched with your elbows against your knees. Wind resistance makes a huge difference to top speed. If your sitting up straight your body has a huge air brake effect.
Scootertuner1000 5 months ago 3
Either it is brand new and still needs to be broken in or you were sitting up straight or both. You need to crouch and tuck in with your elbows touching the sides of you knees you will see 110 to 115mph
Scootertuner1000 5 months ago
