This is a serious suggestion, try to sell it to FPSRussia, he makes videos like this all the time, he would buy it and it would do a lot more good then having it sit around! Millions of people could enjoy it and become educated about m-80's. Just my two cents, and nice find!

Never seen a "real" M-80 I'm only 39 but living in China I can tell you people make those things illegally at home all the time and of course it has no safety sticker. Most are sold near spring festival. I bought a case of 100 firecrackers which are m-80ish power for about 60 bucks.

These firecrackers were made by Him Yuen Firecrackers Co. Macao. At least the ones that I have were. They look exactly like yours and the brand was Phenix. The size on the front of the box was 2" 1/2 50 which ment that they were 2 inches long by one half inch in diamater and 50 in each box. I saw your blog on pyrotalk and was supprised that no one really informed you of what you have. Sorry they are not m-80's, just big crackers made before 1966
That is not an M-80. That is a classic 2" paper cracker. I have several of them in my collection. They are probably worth around $5 per cracker. If you had a whole pack of 10 they would be worth around $45 per pack on the open market. I will find a photo of a real M-80 and post it. I have several original ones in my collection. Did you know that the M-80 and Cherry Bomb production was primarily done in the USA. We made some of the best stuff around.

Okay what you have there is a 2x1/2 inch Buffalo super-charged flash salute they are a good sounding strong cracker certainly no m-80 wich hold 2+ grams of flash or in my case 2 micron magnesium. And they were made between 62-66in Macau. And they were selling for 20.00 apiece at this years PGI convention If you are not a collecter shoot em off.

It's not an M-80. M-80 is military issue only, very plain red wrap that says M-80. Look up firework collectors they can tell you, and may buy it. You can also look up pics and info on vintage fireworks. Have fun and don't light it!

That is called a AMERICAN BUFFALO SALUTE made in 1965 in macau they came in boxes of 50 I have many different sealed boxes of them by different Brands A box I can get anywhere from 200-400 for I have seen single ones at auction sites go for 25.00 for two or 15.00 for one. if it's in mint. it's no where as near as strong as a real what you call M-80 that I can make. It's no biggie if he lights it or not!

It is not an M-80. It is a 2 incher firecracker. cherry bombs, m-80s, cannon crackers, silver salutes, ashcans, torpedoes, were all banned due to the 1966 child protection act. In the 1940s you you could walk into any store and buy these. Today they are illegal.
The m-80s that I have seen dont look like that. They are a short stubby red cardboard tube with a green fuse coming out of the middle. The tube is sealed with wax on both ends to make them waterproof. Just saying...
That isn't an M-80 nor a 1/4 stick. It is a salute (firecracker) and they came in boxes and wrapped in packs, just not strung together. I had about a dozen of those and if I remember clearly only 1 worked and it wasn't any louder than todays firecrackers. Firecrackers from the 70's and 80's were much louder. I know, I have been involved with fireworks for years.

I remember this type of firework from when I was a kid.
They were called Flash Salutes and they made quite a mess from all the paper.
I used to get bricks of them in the mid to late 60's. Really cool firecrackers. I have not seen them since the late 60's.
These are not to be confused with Silver Salutes which are bassically M-80's but smaller in size.

That is a real M-80 from the 60's. My buddy's dad had one of those saved that we lit off on new years 2000.

That isn't an M-80 nor a 1/4 stick. It is a salute (firecracker) and they came in boxes and wrapped in packs, just not strung together. I had about a dozen of those and if I remember clearly only 1 worked and it wasn't any louder than todays firecrackers. Firecrackers from the 70's and 80's were much louder. I know, I have been involved with fireworks for years.
