well its good to know that you guys know what a salary cap is. the hawks had to trade their players because they had to stay under the salary cap. duncan kieth and brian campell are 2 of the highest paid players on the hawks. thats not even including hossa kane toews or sharp. just saying. even though it does suck that chicago lost half of their stanley cup winning team there was a reason. go hawks, and leafs! miss you versteeg!

Versteeg that year...at least in this game played with Martin Havlat and Troy Brouwer.  Both those guys especially Martin Havlat are great players. Steeger is also a wonderful player and even a better person. I only have high hopes for him. Yall in Toronto better treat him right!!! We'll miss ya Steeger :'(

K ladies, let me set things straight. Both players are great. Versteeg is playing a great 2-way role in the playoffs, and had a great regular season, but he will not win the Calder. Mason was outstanding and is deserving of the Calder, which he will win. Sure, he sucked ass in the playoffs, but what do you expect? Columbus vs. Detroit...come on. and Bobby Ryan is proving why he was the 2nd overall pick behind Crosby. Great rookie crop this year.

Id agree that it was poor defensive play. Both players closest to him thought the other was going to take him. Still it takes skill to take advantage of that and finish the play. Versteeg definately has that and it looks like another Calder trophy may be coming to Chicago.

anyone notice that the hawks seem to have an eye for potential? first duncan keith, seabrook, corey crawford, patrick kane(over that russian kid that died earlier this year), jonathan toews(over kessel), they have great scouting, and now versteeg(from boston), he could get 30 goals this season, and looks like he's gonna surpass kanes 71pts from last year, and he's only 22, brassard is 21, and grabovski is 22, so its a pretty even rookie of the year race
