No no, you misunderstand me. I was not referring to this ad, but to the 1978 film Watership Down, where Richard Briers voiced the rabbit Fiver. The way Fiver is portrayed in the film is this scrawny, jittery, paranoid thing, a la crack addict lol!
Our local Midland was actually the first in the country to trial the "autobanks", even had a sliding cover on the front so people couldn't press the buttons with the card inside. Though it was always covered in milkshake or sick.
It also never had a griffin with no willy that sounded like Richard Bryers by it either.
@dollydot123 Yes its called natwest now(naziwest) Yes and the is a great advert for natwest with a cash machine filler who fills up the cash machine the musics great.

UK ads are very annoying! We americans have better nostalgic ads like the slinky song and the Energizer Bunny which has kept going for so long! This is something to skip!
British ad agencies made some of the best commercials in the world during the '70s and '80s. Bartle Bogle & Hegarty, Saatchii & Saatchii were always winning awards. How wrong can someone be? Quite a bit.

Sorry but I can't listen to Richard Briers anymore without picturing a scrawny, probably crack addicted rabbit lol!
Blackfish100 3 years ago 2
That's funny! It's not a rabbit though, I think it's supposed to be a gryphon (winged lion).

Can you imagine how stupid you'd look if you actually tried talking to that ATM?

Boy, a bank that actually listens. I can take all my financial problems to them and they'll listen!
I wish we had that kind of bank in the US.
palmercomm 3 years ago
The midland bank is defunct now. It's part of HSBC as far as I'm aware.
dollydot123 3 years ago
Do they listen? Is the griffin still there?
palmercomm 3 years ago
I really couldn't tel you if they listen or not, I bank with Lloyds TSB, so I couldn't say.
The griffin is definitely no more, though.
dollydot123 3 years ago
Is TSB still the bank that likes to say 'yes' then?

Having spent quite a bit of time in the US the irony of this post is most amusing.

This is a rubbish ad. However, as an American you must surely be a connoisseur of rubbish ads.

Gee whiz, now that whatever animal it is (griffin?) finally stopped listening in his circle and went to a listening ATM.
