  • poor old richard bries in a care home in hendon he is 89 but can not walk anymore

getting old is a real pain

  • Richard Briers is a legend

  • Midland bank - Good old days

    HSBC - Bad days

  • Appalling. Like banking in general. Thanks for screwing up the world, Chaps...

  • The griffin has no willy

  • Why does he have no willy

  • The griffin still has no willy.

  • I think the auto bank voice is , Brian Blessed.

  • Happy days

  • The griffin has no willy

  • Why does the griffin have no willy

  • @TheJonny165 Griffins reproduce asexually.

  • No you are.

  • a gay griffin talking to a face in the wall...f**k me..lol

  • this is so fuckin gay but i like it

  • I see many a man shouting and swearing at cash machines on a drunken nite out

  • Hrd to believe that was the height of technology back then. I mean what next? Fire? THE WHEEL?!!! LOL!!!

  • Sorry but I can't listen to Richard Briers anymore without picturing a scrawny, probably crack addicted rabbit lol!

  • That's funny! It's not a rabbit though, I think it's supposed to be a gryphon (winged lion).

  • No no, you misunderstand me. I was not referring to this ad, but to the 1978 film Watership Down, where Richard Briers voiced the rabbit Fiver. The way Fiver is portrayed in the film is this scrawny, jittery, paranoid thing, a la crack addict lol!

  • Can you imagine how stupid you'd look if you actually tried talking to that ATM?

  • Our local Midland was actually the first in the country to trial the "autobanks", even had a sliding cover on the front so people couldn't press the buttons with the card inside. Though it was always covered in milkshake or sick.

It also never had a griffin with no willy that sounded like Richard Bryers by it either.

  • Boy, a bank that actually listens. I can take all my financial problems to them and they'll listen!

I wish we had that kind of bank in the US.

  • The midland bank is defunct now. It's part of HSBC as far as I'm aware.

  • Do they listen? Is the griffin still there?

  • I really couldn't tel you if they listen or not, I bank with Lloyds TSB, so I couldn't say.

The griffin is definitely no more, though.

  • Is TSB still the bank that likes to say 'yes' then?

  • They are indeed! :)

  • @Xxfancythat79xX They were until they died.

  • @dollydot123 Yes its called natwest now(naziwest) Yes and the is a great advert for natwest with a cash machine filler who fills up the cash machine the musics great.

  • Americans need to sort there banks out or there superpower status will be gone

  • So THIS is when the bank stopped listening, and the machines took over. Aaaah.

  • Yes. Midland Bank = Skynet.

  • Having spent quite a bit of time in the US the irony of this post is most amusing.

  • This is a rubbish ad. However, as an American you must surely be a connoisseur of rubbish ads.

  • Gee whiz, now that whatever animal it is (griffin?) finally stopped listening in his circle and went to a listening ATM.

  • British ad agencies made some of the best commercials in the world during the '70s and '80s. Bartle Bogle & Hegarty, Saatchii & Saatchii were always winning awards. How wrong can someone be? Quite a bit.

  • Well they wouldn't be very fucking nostalgic to us, as we wouldn't remember them would we??? Div.

  • it sayz u get money for free..i wish :(

  • You get your cash...and the bankings free! Not for much longer, the greedy swine.

  • The fully-automatic Auto Bank, and the banking's free!

  • Thats how you do it

  • wow... I remember this ad! And cash machines were a novelty!!!

  • wish we still had adverts like that these days!!

  • This is such a good bank!

  • this is a catchy song!

  • midland bank is now hsbc
