  • When he finishes, he does up his button, like a boss!!

  • loved it! the old man rocks!

  • I've spent the better part of my night learning this song. So far Im about 50 seconds into it. If I could play it as well one day (or even just close to as well) as he did. i shall be very happy with myself.

  • I don't like his high tempo

  • How would Mozart have played it? Anyone got a time machine?

  • meraviglioso

  • This is refreshing after hearing lots of slow versions

  • Beautifully done runs - not overemphasized as in other performances I've heard of this tune, one of my favorites.

  • Nice to hear a quicker version than Gould's performance. I thought that maybe the strange dramatic parts at like 0:50, and 2:59 would sound better when played faster than Gould's performance but this version omits the painful suspense that playing that part slow does. But I like how the rest of the piece is quicker and less boring. Good performance but the killer part of the piece is missing for me.

  • @invalidsyscall

Agreed, I'm also partial to hearing the last bit, 4:34, played out slower and more emotional to contrast with the earlier appearances of this theme, then built to an allegro, dramatic climax.

  • He is not "playing it fast". If you listen to the accents, he is playing it in Alla Breve (aka "cut-time"). I've seen scores where its in 4/4 and others in 2/2.

  • @SFChristo

You are right, correct text has allabreve, Andante allabreve, then Adagio allabreve. i feel Leygraf plays very well.

  • He plays the piece too fast, it should be quiet and calm and filled with much more senses. He didn´t touch my heart.

  • @Simonkolina

    yeah, he plays very fast,

  • it actually sounds a bit better (although i think he should've used the petal in the adagio section or played more smoothly)

playing it fast gives the impression of a storm coming

and this works because the adagio section following sounds like sadness and pouring rain

  • what's with the extremely fast pace in the adagio section? it is rubato, sure, but that fast?

  • How amazing it might seem, he still gives concerts! We will listen to him playing a Haydn-Chopin-Debussy program in Piteå, Sweden, Feb 15. We have a splendid concert hall, and a very nice Steinway, which he actually wanted to buy some 40 years ago.

"I will do an encore. It is not a very long piece, it is by Mozart. I played it 80 years ago, and I like to play it once more!"

  • How amazing it might seem, he is still giving concerts. He celebrates his 80th year as a performing artist this year! We will listen to him playing a Haydn-Debussy-Chopin program in Piteå Feb 15 in our splendid concert hall!

  • omg i can see the professionalism in his fingers!!! i love it!!! im still learning it :)

  • This is the 2nd best version i've seen on youtube. My #1 is Giancarlo Scalia's

  • If the recording date is right (and I'm sure it is) he was almost 88 years old at the time of the recording!! ...deepest respect...!

  • die Musik mit der Ehrlichkeit und Natuerlichkeit .

    einfach schoen !

ich bin so froh dass man in YouTube sein Spiel hoeren kann .
