  • He will always represent the best of us

  • He was the best of us

  • @TheDudar He really was. What a great guy.

  • I'm proud as a Canadian to have Lived in the time were this man stood up and said what was right, i really wish he could have been Our Prime Minister at least before he past away, and Canada has lost a great leader a man that no-one could ever replace , RIP Jack Layton and i hope that your Legacy will be carried on be the next NDP leader.

  • RIP Mr.Jack Layton.....you will be missed..until we meet again...

  • rip

  • A great Canuck and a great man wish there were more like him.Missing you Jack.

  • Jack Layton wasn't a politician he was a leader.

  • I got no idea who this guy is but I like the music

  • beautiful

  • There's something about him that was just so genuine. Good video!

  • R.I.P JACK

  • The only real leader Canada has had for a long time now.. it's a damn shame he was never able to become our prime minister.. damn shame indeed..

    Canada lost a great man.

  • Jack Layton was a great leader and a very great man. The NDP were very lucky to have a man like him. He proved that he was a fighter and worked really hard to get where the NDP are at today. Jack Layton, we will never forget you and for your famous motto "Let's not stop until the job is done!"

  • can't believe I didn't hear about this guy until he died.

  • @ScientificExploits Silly nationalists think that where they happened to be born matters.

  • @callumCGLP Hey! I'm just expressing the stereoscopic American view on Canadians, no foul. :P

  • @callumCGLP Make that stereotypical not stereoscopic, though that would be quite interesting.

  • @callumCGLP Silly statists think politicians deserve praise.

  • @oshory I too am apposed to the state, but I don't see an anarchist revolution happening anytime soon. So for now, I'm going to appreciate politicians who actually try to better the country for working and middle class people instead of sucking up to corporate interests.

  • @Dezzreck This is my observation: Atheists deny the father in heaven just to worship big brother in government. Why? My theory: People are inclined to feel subservient to a higher power for security and peace of mind. Just my thoughts...

  • @oshory Oh sorry, I thought you were a legitimate anarchist, but you're just a right wing libertarian christian who probably loves ron paul. Here's a newsflash, church and state are seperate, and assuming that all atheists are left wing is ridiculous. I know plenty of racist and greedy atheists.

  • @Dezzreck Whats wrong with Ron Paul? Oh I know, he is a *gasp* christian. He doesn't accept evolution. OH NO. He doesn't like abortion. YIKES... If you knew anything about Dr. Paul you would know that he wouldn't ban abortion, wouldn't ban teaching evolution or stem cells, and he only talks about his religion when asked. He would audit the FED however. He thinks the president should have as little power as possible and I agree. If RP wants to end the wall of separation that is new to me. Proof?

  • @ScientificExploits Canada matters a lot more than your bankrupt, yellow blooded, scared of your own shadow, has been, joke of a country.

  • @ScientificExploits fuck you u stupid little prick.. Canada will be stronger than the US in the next 20 years! 100%

  • @sabzz23 I doubt it. We spend 75% more in military than Canada does.

  • @ScientificExploits nah man.. im not talkin about military strength lol.. that dont matter. Im talking about economically. Already, Canadians have MUCH better lives and are richer and are cared for more than Americans because of the nations they live in.. Im just saying, you guys are REALLY falling

  • @ScientificExploits silly american

  • Sadly, there is less hope now that Jack is gone...

  • Jack Layton was a personal inspiration and the reason I became passionate about politics. There was no better voice of the voiceless, I remember him as the only politician that connected with young Canadians across every university campus, putting our future into the debate when nobody else would. I am honoured to have had the chance to stand by his side and actively support his final run to the greatest victory in NDP history.

  • @andrewclunn I fail to see how honouring a dead politician qualifies as "pushing...progressive politics". Especially considering I worked very hard to ensure this video was entirely non-partisan (do you see his party's logo anywhere?). He was a great man, regardless of his politics. I would give the same treatment to a right-wing politician who met a similar fate.

  • @callumCGLP

Oh my. I was actually unaware that he had passed. I didn't watch the last 30 seconds of the video and haven't followed Canadian new. My apologies.

  • @callumCGLP: Good job on your video I agree, that this would not be deemed partisan by any true measure ! He was a great Canadian and above all held public office which requires the uttermost respect. Great work!

  • @andrewclunn

Science also provides progress for our societies. You are against progress? You do not want things to get better her in the West?

  • @zwwalker

That's not what progressive as a political philosophy means. Let's not get into a political discussion here. I commented without watching the video all the way through, and as a result made a mistake about its context. I've apologized. Let's leave it at that.

  • @andrewclunn

    No worries friend, cheers :)

  • @d3st88 Nationalists don't have the capacity to do that, unfortunately. They think their opinion matters.

  • @andrewclunn haha buddy your a moron.

  • @andrewclunn Oh good, nobody wants to be associated with you anyway.

  • Join us on facebook in our quest to have one at Jack's. Search for ETERNAL FLAME FOR JACK..

  • While I may not have agreed with his methods, I certainly agreed with his beliefs. "Don't let them tell you it can't be done."

  • This video has no 2:37 o_O

  • I remember when Barak Obama talked that like that. It was incredibly inspiring. That was short lived (flop).

    How did this man die?

  • @MrSupercat9 Unknown cancer. He had been diagnosed in Feb 2010 with prostate cancer.

"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world." - Jack Layton

  • God I'll miss him

  • I turned 18 a few months ago and had the privilege to vote for him and his party in the last elections...and I will do it again when the time will come, and again, and again. Jack Layton's ideals will one day become reality. I just can't wait.

  • It was really amazing what his party was able to accomplish in the last election, and I feel that it was all because of him. People believed in him. What a hard hit for the NDP.

  • If only there were people like him running for office in America.

  • @macmac1249 Dude, you have an even more awesome guy in America and his name is Ron Paul. The problem with Social democrats, at least here in Sweden, is that they sound very caring and hearty but their politics is on a very unstable moral ground. The whole Social Democratic system is built on coercion and violence and when you start to think about it becomes very upsetting. /watch?v=PGMQZEIXBMs&

  • @oxfile

How is it built on violence

  • @893160007 Look at the video I referred to in my last post.

  • @oxfile

I did, thats called government. Every society will do the same if you don't pay taxes.

  • @893160007 Yes, and that is violence.

  • @oxfile

How can you say Social Democracy is built on violence for something every government would do (although civilized countries would resort to peaceful means first, and try to avoid violence in the arrest). Also how is Ron Paul so different and "awesome", I like how he is more anti war than most of their politicians, but he doesn't want gun control, and wants tougher borders, how is that non-violent.

  • @893160007 Government per se is violence. A government would do lots of hearty and lovely stuff but first it needs to get the money to do so, and that is accomplished through taxes. Taxes ain't voluntary, it's robbery. You can choose not to buy an Iphone but you can't choose not to pay taxes. If you do the government or the state will use violence against you. And gun control is a violent thing, restricting your freedom to protect yourself and making you dependent on the state for protection.

  • @oxfile

In democratic societies people decide to have taxes, and if you don't like it than move to a country with less, but enjoy not having the money to afford health care, and having no cops to protect society from crime. Gun control is not violent, it discourages violence by making it harder for criminals to get weapons, and giving police information on where weapons are

  • Scientific advancement. Humans escaping Darwinian evolution.

  • @shankerman10 can you elaborate what you meant by that?

  • @addictedtopiano Nothing lol just bored.

  • Totally didn't expect this from you callum but this is great. Thanks! :)

  • He was 1 1/2 years younger then me. Kind of sad to die that young.

  • No doubt about it Jack will be missed. The other parties would try to knock him down but he always came up swinging.

  • RIP Jack.
