  • I've been on this its a schindler

  • Schindler?

  • and theres also a safety thing that will stop the elevator if its going to fast down/up. no need to worry, just call the service and they will fix the bang sound.

  • No need to be worried. the thing wont fall. I work with elevators. and the "BANG" thing is just something hitting something in the shaft. and the thing that makes the elevator "bounce" up and down, is that the elevator i used to muched in a short time, so theres air in the cylinder, so it will "bounce" up and down. and even if it wasnt a Hydraulic, and just a line elevator. dont worry, the lines will hold for 12 times the weight. its just the motor that can handle the weight.

  • @NoPatchNow Millar never installed.

  • @suzzex did you look at the inter lock? it looks like a schindler

  • Bouncing ones make you think (oh crap this things gonna break) and also slowness makes you think it'll stop

  • I wonder how often the alarm button wears out and needs to be replaced? Probably once a month! :D

  • @dickcheney6 I JUST rode this thing yesterday, and man did it put on a show! :D

  • Why do you think they put EPCO Survivor fixtures on there? Well, when you are moving, you pray for survival... :P

  • @guineaphinea LOL! :D

  • Whoa nice impact cam!!!! The jolt is a little unnerving!

  • Uhhh yeah I'm gonna stick with the stairs at this store......

  • @nospeakamericano97 The escalators are actually pretty cool. They have grey handrails :O

  • @suzzex Thats pretty cool!!

  • #1 low hydro fluid that's what's causing the bouncing

#2 The banging you hear is a roller hitting the toe guards that roller is what opens the outer doors.

#3 that elevator is a montgomery elevator. But I could be wrong here that looks more like a dover

  • @johndeerman66 Installed 1997-1998. Montgomery is out of the question. Filene's at the time used Schindler, so our assumption right now is Millar/Schindler.

  • 3:19 3:23 you'll be needing those.

  • @thyssenelevator97 Most definitely.

  • lol. your pretty brave to ride this! :)

  • That is pretty scary!

  • Did you guys install this back when you were MontgomeryKONE? This mall was built in 1998.

  • @KONEamericas Did you install it when you were MontyKone?

  • Yes, I think it is a Heights elevator.

  • I think this is a Heights elevator, and not a Schindler or Dover. It's a HEIGHTS!

  • LOL! It very well could be! If I had to give my absolute best guess right now, I would go with Schindler, but I am not 100% sure, and I am not saying it is.

  • I think you could consider this one of the worst elevators you've ever been on.

  • This is almost as worst as the Delta-Beckwith and Heights elevators I've been on! Maybe worse!

  • It always seems to me that this elevator is nice besides the startup jolt, but no one says it is, I guess that is a silent but deadly ride. The brand escapes me too, I say Schindler or 3rd party. Its challenging because this is the only newer mall that doesnt use one brand for the whole mall. The Mall of Georgia is an example of this trend of 1 brand.

  • I agree that it is either a Schindler or 3rd party, but it is in no way nice. People are scared to ride this elevator. Employees are scared to ride this elevator. You have to come and experience it in person to see how bad it truely is. Also, Impact Cam Mark I shows how the elevator made the camera jump in the air for a bit. Revo8778 and I also found out that this is a roped hydraulic.

  • Did you notice the electric rating on the door interlock?

    "230 Volts, 2 Amps"

    That's very unusual.

  • It is indeed.

  • Also notice how the lantern doesn't ring until a floor is selected, just like the Schindler roped hydro.

  • Most controllers do that too.

  • Those are Adams keyswitches, and i think only the Adams version of Survivor + uses the red jewel alarm button.

  • This thing needs some work, and for the brand, I'm guessing some 3rd party brand.

  • Definately. This is a very difficult call to make, since it points to several companies, but 3rd party is most likely what it is. Ih8escalators thinks it is a Millar/Schindler, dea41396returns thinks it is a 3rd Party by some name that escapes me, and I have no idea what it is!

  • I believe, regretfully, that it's Schindler.

  • I am starting to believe that to, although 3rd party still haunts me. That pump does sound awefully similar to Schindlers, especially the roped hydro we rode today.

  • This is not a borehole. It's holeless. I shined a camera flash thru the doors on P once to see if there was a piston directly behind them. There wasn't.

Fixture-wise, it bears a lot of resemblance to the roped hydro Schindler we rode today.

  • I think it is roped too. It bounced like there was no tomorrow, and it did behave just like New Roc, except New Roc isn't a death-trap.

  • Those fixtures look like one of Thyssenkrupp's vandal resistant line. It was probably modernized though so I can't say for sure.

  • Dover ripped this line off, and of course ThyssenKrupp just stole everything from Dover.

  • 40ft? Try 95ft into the swamp. 20ft/floor and 15ft for Parking

  • That is 9 stories drama queen.

  • 40' is too low, 95' is too high. The minimum height requirement for a parking structure is 8' (8'2" handicapped) to meet code. These look like they're about 10' ceilings (from what I can tell based on the height of a car in relation to a column). Mall levels are a different story though and are typically around 20' floor-to-floor, although this varies dramatically. This puts the rise at about 50'.

Regardless, in-ground hydro should never have been used given the ridiculously high water table.

  • I would say @ least 20ft/floor w/ 5ft in-between floors...

  • I agree. I did not know about that requirement though, so thanks for informing me!

  • No prob. Remember too, the elevator doesn't go to the roof, so the jack is really 10+20+20.

    (floor-to-floor does not equal floor-to-ceiling)

  • Thanks! :)

  • @suzzex : Was the elevator broken before?

  • I have no idea. I have only stepped foot in this store twice, although I have been to the mall several times.

  • Comment removed

  • ADAMS fixtures. Look at the key switches..

  • Thanks! :)

  • Adams. You can tell by the key switches. EPCO uses round keys, while Adams uses the regular types.

  • I'm no expert in that, since I don't have keys or experience. Thanks for the correction though!

  • No problem. I'm always happy to share what I learn. Of course I have the keys and know the locks, so I have an advantage on these things..

  • come on it's not so bad :D anyway, i agree, i have a good take of this elevator and i remember it sucked pertty bad.

  • You have to come back and ride it! It got much worse!!! Doesn't impact cam prove it with that start up, banging and scraping against the shaft and bouncing like a superball?

  • GAFCO

  • I'm no expert, so I would have to guess Dover or Downey-Goodlein.

  • Downey-Goodlein is a 3rd Party company that is more upperstate. This elevator doesn't really scream Dover to me. That pump sounds different than a Dover pump.

  • DEATH-TRAP, lol.

  • That is an understatement!!! :)

  • I think those fixtures are by Adams (survivor), and I can certainly see why people were taking strollers on the escalators.

  • Sorry, it's Adams.
