  • The author says that humans may be the only one's to acknowledge the beauty surrounding us. And that humans are different from all species on this earth in many ways, specifically our contemplation of mathematics (and therefore music). These things make us uniquely human, while no other species can claim uniqueness on so many levels (some may be somewhat unique, but not to our degree). My question is this: Why humans? Christianity says it is because we are made in His image. I believe it.

  • @surfer4992 I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but I'd like to give this a shot. Why humans? Well, this is an odd question to answer. It immediatly implies that there is some form of reason behind it, a purpose for being given these traits. However, that kind of a statement it only half true. Evolution (oh no, not evolution!) is most likely the cause behind this. Imagine a species aquiring logic. Living on the basis of A is not B probably increased survival rates, don't you think?

  • @surfer4992 Now, with logic came mathematics and as you put it, music. Eventually, humanity progressed at a much faster rate in building intelligence, which sets us aside from our ape relatives, who are still very smart. We progressed to the point where we weren't constantly fighting for survival, like we previously were. We developed inventions, technology, and with that, leisure. Humans, just like dogs or other easily excited animals, can have fun. We developed wonder and acknoledgement

  • @surfer4992 A species who wonders is a species who discovers, and as such progresses to the point we are at today. You speak of us being unique because of this. This may or may not be true. How would we know if a chimpanzee could gaze at the Teetons (spelling?) and feel wonder? It's not like it could tell us. Assuming that we are, realize that there is a first for eveything, is there not? Man has reached the moon. In 1969 America was unique in the fact that we were the only country to make it

  • @surfer4992 My question to you. Why America? Well, now that we're off the first thing for everything acknowledgement, with our exponential expansion, we have grown to the point where other species are now unable to follow the same sort of train of development, and because of that we will remain unique. I know not whether or not chimps form communities in the same way humans do if let be in the wild, but imagine if they developed a continueing vocal language beyond our sterotypical oo-oo-aa-aa.

  • @surfer4992 After that, they could expand in a similar way we did. However, there window of oportunity was shut down by us dominating the planet with our exponential growth. We will remain unique for quite some time. Why humans? Because we beat other species to the punch. Not because a God deemed it so. Why humans? Conditions allowed us to become this way, whether or not you beleive that. I more likley than not butchered this explanation, but I hope this at least somewhat sheds some light on it.

  • Thanks for the mirror. This video had no business being flagged.

  • While you're worshiping apple butter on a biscuit. Jesus is busy contemplating ways to torture you for an eternity. However it may be okay if his likeness is burnt into the biscuit first. Of course then the biscuit would have to be put on ebay and sell for $28K.

  • "I remember thinking to myself. Something much greater than me must have caused this. I know it...There are moments when I'm with good friends, where it just feels good to breath."

This is what I think too. I read a lot of Emerson and Thoreau, mixed with Sufi and Mooji. I don't class my self as anything like a 'spiritualist' or a 'Bill Hicksian', but I do think the spiritual life is pretty kickass. A simple phrase I follow is 'love all the people'.

    Awesome video!

  • @standforthmysoul Well put. Glad you dig it. Make sure to subscribe to AHughman08, he made the video. It was false flagged recently, so I've mirrored it here.

  • So you really mean your humanity. The DNA code is much larger, much more complex and more awesome than most people will take the time to know.
