  • I would love to see an HD remake of this game.

  • this is game is out on the ps3 psn. Xenogears is already out. Next could be threads of fate or Legend of Mana next week on the psn

  • I always thought Ashley Riot looked like a Japanese Brandon Fraser. It's one of those weird resemblances like Will Smith in Resident Evil 2. The PS1 was amazing :D

  • Ashley Riot ooo

  • I can definitely see the similarities to FFXII, just from the setting. Awesome.

  • Such A Good Game!!

  • Lol when they did that pan up in the intro I thought this is so ff7 like esp after cloud jumps off the train.

  • Finnaly I found the game I was looking for. My brother and I had a hard time beating this game, not sure if we ever beat it though, but I always died when it came to that ghost who was immune to my attacks.

  • Imma keep this simple, One of the best games EVER MADE.

  • This game had class.

  • 1) WTF 2 crits in A ROW?! o_O

2)The sound when u play VagrantStory on TV absolutely BLOWS U AWAY and makes u feel like WHOA O_O from how awesome it is. Composer of sound was very impresed fro mdedication and carefullnes with which devs made game and was very carefull at creating fitting sound. Its epic and dark and full of mistery like as if its Batman moovie but original and perfectly fitting.

3)Graphs are uber for PSone and chars have not jsut faces and mimics they have moods on faces readable

  • This game is simply enormous. Should Sony release a sequel for ps3, they would sell more copies than god of war and heavy rain together. I can see the influence of this game on final fantasy XIII, by the way.

  • @stonerdemon The guy who made this made ff XII...

  • @stonerdemon It is coming out shortly as a PSOne Classic. They're releasing Xenogears on Feb 22nd 2011 and Squeenix said they were gonna do Vagrant Story too!

Just saw the date of your comment... oh well, information is information.

  • @Kirzan66 I bought a psx two months ago, just to have the chance to play these games again, with a controller, the old way. but this concole cannot read disks copied at 4x or more!! i need to fix my old pc! i wanna burn at 2x :(

  • Oh, good old classics. PS1 games like this will simply always be good

  • Hmm I never did beat this game....

  • By Far one of the best games i ever play, along with shadow of the colossus

    adventure RPG

  • I love any Squaresoft/Square-Enix game that takes place in Ivalive, it's such a wonderful universe !

  • 2:05 = absolute class!

  • No, it is not played on emulator. I played this (like all my ps1, ps2, gc etc. videos) on real hardware from real disc.

  • IMO Ashley fits towards a male than a female

    Sounds epic too

  • reinforcements?? i'am the reinforcements!!

  • good grafic for Psx, i know many games with very worst!

  • EL MEJOR JUEGO DE PSX LEJOS ¡¡¡¡

  • The dialogue and directing for this game was top notch... Its hard for me to find games that I've enjoyed as much as I did with this one

  • Fantastic! I love this game!

  • hmmmm.... sain serkuilta ps1 ja muutaman pelin siihen ja tämä oli mukana.

PS. mistä sais ostettua FinalFantasy VII?

  • i still dont get how u make ashley stronger im stuck in the forest with the dragon and i only have the game not the manual

  • why do those two guys at the end have girl names?

Well I guess Ashley can be a boy name in Europe... but Sydney?

  • That was a virtuoso sequence.

  • Uno de los mejores juegos que he tenido la oportunidad de terminar cuando vendi mi ps me quedé con el juego esta super

  • This was a very good game, especially the story. Its a real shame they didn't make a sequel.

  • I've always wanted to play this game...but i never had a chance. :(

  • Its not too late!

  • Never will be too late to play a classic game

  • so true.. and i'm downloading it right now.. gotta try this one

  • I never got the chance to play this game, but I heard it was really good.

  • Loved the game and the main character...well also his haircut and first name were a bit strange....Ashley??? thats not a man`s name! and what are the two antennas on his head?

  • it is a man's name in some parts of the world. I know a man named Ashley from the UK, for example. I think some people named Ashley tend to go by the name Ash though.

  • where are you suppose to go in the forest i keep getting killed by this big ass dragon and i dont know where im supposed to be

  • Man the character designs are pretty weird...

  • Was that a coincidence you got two critical hits when fighting Sydney's subordinates?

  • the first time I played this, I unwittingly prompted through the dialogue at such a rate, that the footstep in the puddle matched exactly the first big drum beat, and the rest of the music matched perfectly to the actions on screen, anyone else done this?

  • At several points in the game, the music goes into short loops of subtle music, awaiting your button press to advance the dialogue/action. When you do so, the loop either plays one last complete measure, or finishes the current measure, before throwing in the musical swell, which is intended to match the pre-rendedred cutscene.

  • come on, akihiko yoshida's kinky outfit design really adds something. he seems to concentrate on characters that are almost fully clothed but with small parts of flesh showing. you can see this trait in FFXII too, with Fran and the girl with the pink little skirt.

  • I think they should really re-do this game on PS3

  • Really shows what the PS was capable of.

  • one of the best RPG's of time

  • Man I remember playing this game though it was so long ago I cant remember how far I got. I dont think I got a chance to beat it

  • Awesome game, thank you for taking the time to capture and share this!

Also, @ 4:59, I thought Ashley cut one xD. Just the music though.

  • only thing i didn't like about this game was the main character's outfit... it looks like it was made a female char. thats just me...

  • i wish to play this on PC now, my PS broke a long time ago :)

  • Ashley's shorts are historically factual!

    ... I think...!

  • THE best opening to a game ever. Drops you right into the middle of things and even gives you an opportunity to learn the battle system before events proper begin. Also features probably the greatest orchestral work ever composed by Sakimoto; even his scores for FF XII and FFT don't compare to this one track.

For those interested, it's called "Climax of the Grayland Incident". It's almost 12 minutes long, and it owns you. HARD.

    Vagrant Story FTW

  • The greatest game in my opinion.

And I have played more games than you could imagine.

Calling this game a work of art is the biggest understatement a veteran gamer could make.

I guess you have to like RPGs to find the beauty in it.

  • I used Plextor ConvertX capture device to get the s-video signal coming from PS2. I would used original Playstation but unfortunately it was manufactured by Sony (==cd-drive is nearly busted).

  • now where i can find this game i whant to play it i am big fan of square soft/squarenix and i am woundering where in hell i can find this game lol

  • I'm just curious, but did you get this from the game yourself?

  • Yes.

  • in Ivalice indeed.

    the game progression goes,

    FFXII > FFT > VS > FFTA

the are separated by centuries at least.

  • great graphics :) (for PSX)

  • I`ve never heard of an Iocus priesthood in any European country. or even a Kingdom of Valendia, in a land called Ivalice, for that matter. FFT and FFXII were set in Ivalice though

  • This game takes place in the same world as FFXII and FFTactics :D

  • I love you. LOL

  • amen to all that. Im gonna start a new game now :D

  • i have the game but i haven't play it that much. i don't understand the battle system

  • I completed this game and it has one of the most complex stories in a game, EVER!!!

It also has the best music which so perfectly fits the games atmosphere, too bad they did'nt make a sequel. The game really should have had less wandering around in deserted towns or catacombs and more encounters with the main characters. The ending with sydney was a bit confusing (was he the Duke's son??? or someone else?)

  • Yeah, I think he was his son.

I am planning to make video about the ending as well.

...Damn save is middle of the snowfly forrest and I cant remember how to get to the location of the final showdown.

  • Yes, Sydney is the Duke's son.

  • one of the most fucking beautiful games eveer made, and so damn underrated, thanks to all fucking idiots who dont appreciate good works of art, back in the day, this was my favorite game, so sad they dropped the project and didnt do a sequel..long live VS

  • I really hope that they will make a sequel...

Reason why people did not like it was that it was a hard game to get into. At first it seem slow, clunky and confusing. Oh, and that inventory system, thanks to it you'll have to discard every other item you found.

But in the end, if you put time on this, you'll discover what great game it is.
