An amazing film! Great performances too, Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi the best in my opinion! I hope that Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu goes on with another film like this.
if there was a direct connection with the deaf girl story, it would have been better. But, you know when the jap guy sees the american family on tv in the bar, just for a second, it made me think about people we see on tv and we dont think too much about them. That was the only connection I made, along with the pictures the arab police officer shows the guy he beats and the pics on the wall in japanese house. Great movie!
@mooyldz the deaf girl father is the one who gave the gun to the man.and the man sell the gun to the boys and their father... that's the connection the deaf girl has to the story
@mohammadzafar Alejandro's first two films: Amores Perros and 21 Grams.
There are European and other films shot in a similar style, and another film Alejandro was executive producer: Mother and Child directed by Rodrigo Garcia
One of the most underrated movies ever created. The ending is just outstanding.Unbelievable acting, music, venues, camerawork, dub, places, story, takes you in another level of art.Can not believe it only has a 67% in Metacritic. One of my favorites films.Ever.
i when to see it and when i came out i was shoked, the the anglosaxon people keept saying what a long boring movie i was so upset i almost told the to go ans whatch vin disen on xxx whith the explosions and the american flag... people do not apreciate god cinema only entertaining empti garbage aver here on the usa ( most of them not all of curse )
Films that are based on reality are often looked down because it's not filled with action or beautiful special effects. In my personal opinion, these are the best movies because it shows a side of the world that not many people are aware of and that in itself is shocking. I love movies like these
Brad Pitt's Best Performances: (These films are in no particular order, but show his true versatility) 12 Monkeys (1995) The Curious Case Benjamin Button (2008) Moneyball (2011) Seven (1995) Inglourious Basterds (2009) The Tree of Life (2011) Fight Club (1999) Snatch (2000) Babel (2006) The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
this movie is a really good film. the reason why it is because the drama is so realistic and the whole movie shows how situations can be relaed all around the world.
@calvinhobbes888 She wrote "I know you rejected me because I have a hairy beaver but I can't shave because I get a horrible rash down there every time I do and it's just uncomfortable. I know you need to drink a lot of alcohol to get over the horror you saw so bottoms up!"
@calvinhobbes888 Well, I think that was point Alejandro made in that bit with the note. It allows us to think up what else could be wrong with Chieko (played by Rinko Kikuchi). Perhaps suicidal tendencies, but we'll never know. Great film overall!
Yeah this movie sucked!!! Less story line please and more explosions!!!! Oh and some tities! I hate when I have to use my brain when I watch a movie so this movie sucked! Also I need to see explosions in the first 2 minutes otherwise I can't focus and I start thinking about who will win the upcoming NASCAR race!!
@cyberise psch. this movie was outstanding. glad to know you're all about the superficial stuff. you didn't have to use your brain that much to understand the movie. and i think movies with storylines are better than mindless explosions.

you know this movie is actually amazing, but one problem, The Japan part, why? just why is that needed, it's basically 2 movies in one and i skipped pasted the japanese scenes towards the end. lady shot in Morocco, children are in america and the nany has to go to a wedding and on her way back from mexico with the children some stuff occur and they're in big trouble. brad pitt and his wife are fighting to get help and eventually do. then you just randomly get these japanese scene :/
@MoroccanStarFRMF In the last half hour they explain why they showed it, because it's somehow connected with the other story. Even I thought "Wtf?", but movies MUST BE WATCHED FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. Watch it again, and watch also the Japan Part. I don't want to say what's the connection.
@AngusYoungForMayor see my problem was i watched it online and there were no subtitles, i under stand Moroccan arabic and of course english, so thoes scenes made sense, the mexican part was very easy to get hold of even without subtitles. so to be honest i'm critising the japanese part but after your explanation i guess i didn't get the whole storyline.

I think I have never read so many comments on a movie in which becomes obvious that people obviously missed the point. I think it's ironic that that's the case with a movie that's all about the problem of understanding each other. :/
@Viahandel06 Technically, aren't all the remarks a person makes without knowing what they're talking about considered "ignorant remarks"? So how do you know when you know enough to start talking? Just dropped some philosophy up in here :P but yea, nights1900 is an dumb nugget.
This movie was just plain disgusting. Nothing beautiful about it. The morrocan little boy jerking off in the beginning. Then the Chinese girl wanting to get laid alll the time and showing her hairy vaginia. I don't get how that is amusing to people.
crash is more about discrimantion a.k.a closet-Racism because a persons skin-colour/Skin complextion /race and this movie is about so-called terrorism or rather islamophobic typical assumptious stuff... so again in what way are you reffering to
@CushiticSomalianMale What part of Somalia do you come from? Somaliland? Puntland? Somalia? Have you already been there? I don't mean to be tactless but I'm interested in your people (somalis). I went to Somaliland for professional reasons and had to write a report on my way back
you went to somalia land for profesional reasons you say.. hmm well for one dude, what is Somalia land, and how come their so-called flag does not even exist nor does the region in terms of sovereign country, but when you say Somalia, i can understand since its a east-african country next to Kenya... which is also east african country.. and for your info im from Puntland reguion of SOMALiA, again of as in within Somalia, just like california is within amerikkka, im no separatist.
@CushiticSomalianMale Mudane firts of all im pleased to talk to you. Secondly, not only that ive been to Hargeysa (HGA) and Berbera (BBO) but to Bossasso (BSA) and Galcayo (GLK) as well. And no, I haven't been there for documentary reasons but within the framework of an automation of those airports which is totally different from a journalistic report obviously.I understand that you're not separatist but the thing is that many people I encountered in the four cities mentioned on the above claimed
and since you say you been to Hargeysa which is a small city of north western Somalia... well if that is the case, then are you amongst these to gentlemen that went to Somalia, for documentary reasons, heres the Link for the video i am talking about: watch?v=Ds7K2QQQK3s - its called trip to Somalian land... you should check the video out, its very intresting even tho im rather from north eastern part of Somalia a.k.a Puntland-region of Somalia... hence i havent been to Hargeysa
@CushiticSomalianMale for independence as they didn't want to be part of the "big" Somalia and assimilated to the Shabab milicy and had deep hopes to see their region improving economically and peacefully. Nevertheless, the port of Eyl - the pirates' spot - was a few kms away from GLK, along the coast. In Hargeysa and Berbera, they are even more revendicative of their independence as the self-claimed autonomous region is economically sustainable. Not to mention education which is one of the main
@CushiticSomalianMale assets in Somaliland. Most of them would probably be yearning for a Somalia united as one, like it used to be in the past but most of them don't believe it'll happen. Sorry but that's the truth. And Somaliland should recognized by the International Community. They have everything to be considered as an entire nation : a stable and democratic government, a stable economy, banks, schools, universities, hospitals, a flag. Not to mention all the exportations from Berbera
Una pelicula inspiradora y brillantemente elaborada. Uno no imagina como se puede planear una historia así, tan inteligen y como el director de esta obra de arte logra envolvernos en esta cinta
such a perfect film.Just dont understand, why many dislike this movie. Last day I asked my friend, did she enjoy ,and she said:I didnt like movie ,because it was so sad.
@TheEgidija Exactly the same for me.. I love the movie too, but when i ask people about it, they either love it or hate it because of its sadness. I dont think its sad. I Think its beautiful..
@TheEgidija some people are simple minded! all the movies they want to see are movies that are meaningless, vulgar and filled with idiot humor!!! its sad!!!
@Posmeallie Very good description on Inarritu's work. So what do you think his next film is going to be like? A continuation of Biutiful or do you think he'll explore another territory entirely?
@Viahandel06 I think he'll probably continue to explore life and death in his next work (even if he's addressing proverbial or metaphorical life and death versus actual life and death), but I'm really hoping he does a story set in a different time period (such as during the civil rights era in America, the Bubonic Plague, the French Revolution, etc.)
@Posmeallie Yeah you're probably right, but I don't think he'll do a film set in the civil rights era, the French Revolution, or the Bubonic Plague. He mainly focuses on the here and now.
He'll probably do another film that involves globalization and the effects of capitalism as he did in Babel and Biutiful. Then again, I'm just speculating.
this is a very good movie. When i saw it i was tripping out because i have been to all the countries in the movie. And to some of the same places. Got to thank the US MARINE CORPS for all my adventures.
@Calakaz I know right? I mean like the movie Broken Flowers was amazing!- if you're into deep movies like that but the trailer sucked! At least this trailer looks complicated, the first time I saw it I just shook it ofbcuz it looked a little boring. Hell, if my friend hadn't told me about it and how good it really was then I wouldn't have seen it, and that would have been a very big waste! God, what a beatiful movie, a favorite
God, I want to find every pretentious, racist, bigoted, and/or war-mongering fuckwit on earth and force them to watch this movie. They need it, and so does everybody else.

I think I have never read so many comments on a movie in which becomes obvious that people obviously missed the point. I think it's ironic that that's the case with a movie that's all about the problem of understanding each other. :/

@nights1900 Don't make ignorant remarks until you know what the fuck you're talking about!
Viahandel06 8 months ago 5
@Viahandel06 Technically, aren't all the remarks a person makes without knowing what they're talking about considered "ignorant remarks"? So how do you know when you know enough to start talking? Just dropped some philosophy up in here :P but yea, nights1900 is an dumb nugget.

This movie was just plain disgusting. Nothing beautiful about it. The morrocan little boy jerking off in the beginning. Then the Chinese girl wanting to get laid alll the time and showing her hairy vaginia. I don't get how that is amusing to people.

In a way this film is similar to Crash.
FriezaReturns00001 9 months ago
@FriezaReturns00001
in what way...
crash is more about discrimantion a.k.a closet-Racism because a persons skin-colour/Skin complextion /race and this movie is about so-called terrorism or rather islamophobic typical assumptious stuff... so again in what way are you reffering to
CushiticSomalianMale 8 months ago
@CushiticSomalianMale your right all portraying people that in the end is about humans figuring out the curicumstances.
FriezaReturns00001 8 months ago
@CushiticSomalianMale What part of Somalia do you come from? Somaliland? Puntland? Somalia? Have you already been there? I don't mean to be tactless but I'm interested in your people (somalis). I went to Somaliland for professional reasons and had to write a report on my way back
scaramosca80 8 months ago
@scaramosca80
you went to somalia land for profesional reasons you say.. hmm well for one dude, what is Somalia land, and how come their so-called flag does not even exist nor does the region in terms of sovereign country, but when you say Somalia, i can understand since its a east-african country next to Kenya... which is also east african country.. and for your info im from Puntland reguion of SOMALiA, again of as in within Somalia, just like california is within amerikkka, im no separatist.
CushiticSomalianMale 8 months ago
@CushiticSomalianMale Mudane firts of all im pleased to talk to you. Secondly, not only that ive been to Hargeysa (HGA) and Berbera (BBO) but to Bossasso (BSA) and Galcayo (GLK) as well. And no, I haven't been there for documentary reasons but within the framework of an automation of those airports which is totally different from a journalistic report obviously.I understand that you're not separatist but the thing is that many people I encountered in the four cities mentioned on the above claimed
scaramosca80 8 months ago
@scaramosca80
and since you say you been to Hargeysa which is a small city of north western Somalia... well if that is the case, then are you amongst these to gentlemen that went to Somalia, for documentary reasons, heres the Link for the video i am talking about: watch?v=Ds7K2QQQK3s - its called trip to Somalian land... you should check the video out, its very intresting even tho im rather from north eastern part of Somalia a.k.a Puntland-region of Somalia... hence i havent been to Hargeysa
CushiticSomalianMale 8 months ago
@CushiticSomalianMale for independence as they didn't want to be part of the "big" Somalia and assimilated to the Shabab milicy and had deep hopes to see their region improving economically and peacefully. Nevertheless, the port of Eyl - the pirates' spot - was a few kms away from GLK, along the coast. In Hargeysa and Berbera, they are even more revendicative of their independence as the self-claimed autonomous region is economically sustainable. Not to mention education which is one of the main
scaramosca80 8 months ago
@CushiticSomalianMale assets in Somaliland. Most of them would probably be yearning for a Somalia united as one, like it used to be in the past but most of them don't believe it'll happen. Sorry but that's the truth. And Somaliland should recognized by the International Community. They have everything to be considered as an entire nation : a stable and democratic government, a stable economy, banks, schools, universities, hospitals, a flag. Not to mention all the exportations from Berbera

I've really come to respect this director, Inarritu. He really knows how to address the broadest, most important human issues:
Amores Perros- Animal cruelty, how human beings mirror that in their treatment of each other, and how the animals mirror them
21 Grams- Death, love, grief, guilt, revenge, hope, forgiveness, and redemption
Babel- Human miscommunication
Biutiful- Death and love
Posmeallie 9 months ago 3
@Posmeallie Very good description on Inarritu's work. So what do you think his next film is going to be like? A continuation of Biutiful or do you think he'll explore another territory entirely?
Viahandel06 9 months ago
@Viahandel06 I think he'll probably continue to explore life and death in his next work (even if he's addressing proverbial or metaphorical life and death versus actual life and death), but I'm really hoping he does a story set in a different time period (such as during the civil rights era in America, the Bubonic Plague, the French Revolution, etc.)
Posmeallie 9 months ago
@Posmeallie Yeah you're probably right, but I don't think he'll do a film set in the civil rights era, the French Revolution, or the Bubonic Plague. He mainly focuses on the here and now.
He'll probably do another film that involves globalization and the effects of capitalism as he did in Babel and Biutiful. Then again, I'm just speculating.

Its ironic how most movies with cool looking trailers suck, and this one that has a pretty lame trailer is such an amazing film
Calakaz 11 months ago
@Calakaz I know right? I mean like the movie Broken Flowers was amazing!- if you're into deep movies like that but the trailer sucked! At least this trailer looks complicated, the first time I saw it I just shook it ofbcuz it looked a little boring. Hell, if my friend hadn't told me about it and how good it really was then I wouldn't have seen it, and that would have been a very big waste! God, what a beatiful movie, a favorite
