@papiiuenvy186 John Candy wasn't a drug addict, his family had a history of heart problems and that makes a difference.....one was a family man and the other a party animal. farley was more slapstick as well with alot of his comedy coming from physical stunts. Candy was a better actor as well. the fact that they were both big is why you see the comparison.

@yetitracker I think you're absolutely correct. Candy and Farley could not be any more different. I was just remarking to someone recently that Candy NEVER let his weight affect or color his characters or performances. Not the case with Farley. And Candy had subtlety. Farley's style was a lot more over the top and in your face than Candy's.

My in-laws met Mr. Candy and had several pictures taken with him in Las Vegas not too long before he passed...they said that he was incredibly fun and nice and one would never guess that he was a celebrity, very down-to-earth...so sad that he is gone, especially with some of the other "so-called" celebrities of today.

He was a very nice man. I wish I could've met him. If you ask for an autograph from an actor/actoress these days, they'd look at you and say "buzz off" or "that will be $500".

I introduced my 15 yr old lad to John in the last few weeks. Firstly it was Stripes and then Uncle Buck.
His response suggests that we are looking at a man who will remain ageless.

every movie john 'acted' in was not acting, i wouldn't consider it acting, it was like he threw his soul into his roles and he seemed so human in all of them that i would believe his characters actually existed in real life. that's how much of an amazing talent he was. love and miss you JC, watching planes trains and automobiles for the 5th time this weekend
