When the wall fell, all the world knew that planned economies could never bring as much health, wealth and happiness to the people as market economies could.

Soon, even communist China started to implement free market reforms. The result is the fastest improvement of standards of living in China in centuries.

Markets work. Competition and capitalism is better for the poor. Central planning, and govt ownership of business fails.

This lesson needs to be retold to each generation.

This is very true and we must also remember that after this recession and unstable markets we remember that we have been here before and that the free market must be more stringently regulated across the world.

I think it is bad govt regulation that got us in to the recession. The USFfederal Reserve kept interest rates too low too long, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac increased loans to those who could not afford them, federal debt pushed yields down, the bailouts create moral hazard...

This recession was created by, or at least made dramatically worse by govt.

And then it bailed out Wall St. with taxpayer dollars. Shame on them.

We need more free market, not regulation.

These are all govt policies.
