Yea mines sound like that RIGHT NOW... I just havent replaced muffler yet but hey its all good.. oh & by the way im @ 234,6-- & still rolling strong...(92 Accord EX) 4door
@TheDragonHelix Oh how I wish my Accord had been a manual. I would have probably kept it a lot longer than I did. Alas, I sold the Accord when I bought a 2007 Civic EX - with a 5spd manual of course!
wow. mine sounded like that about 4 months ago, when i first bought the car..then i out a magnaflow fart can, yes i say fart can cuz piece of crap is now burnt out, i mean i only driven it 9k miles since i owned it. o well its better than nothin. next it will be headers and all4-2-1
Sadly, I sold this car to a friend recently. It left my hands with just a few less that 145,000 miles on it. The new owner is quite mechanically inclined, so I'm sure it will see many more miles and years of use. These cars are literally reliable like a tank.
lol nice those are low miles i have a 92 dx with 130 lol but could have twice that i have had it a week and has not changed haha and have traveld about 1000 miles haha
@joc1394 I hate pot holes but i have 96 supra lowered down and i hit a pot hole and my hole cat back system failed i was losing power and my mpg went down like 40 percent
automatic? what motor? i hacked off mine and it was the loudest air plane in the world! haha i have a clip actually and the camera didnt capture really how loud it was.. oh yeah i have 90,000 more mile than you haha
mine just fell off too XD it rusted at the seem and my driveway ripped it off.. i like the sound so im leaveing it off for now until i can get a whole new exhuast :)
Nice, mine has 146k and my bros has 279k. By the way that muffer couldnt have been installed correctly or else it wouldnt have fallen off. I jsut replaced mine and it was welded back on.
1st, it seems like your transmission likes to let your engine do all the work! It seems to let the revs get too high for no real need. Unless you like it that way, maybe you could save some MPG's by adjusting it?
Also, I've got a '90, and I experienced rough shifting (160k miles on transmission). I am a mechanic, and a few mechanic buds recommended the Lucas transmission fluid treatment. I was skeptical, but dumped the stuff in. Worked great! Smooth shifts!
Those aren't the normal shift points. It just didn't have it's normal pep without the muffler and I was putting my foot into it more than normal. Also, I solved my rough shifts by changing the Trans. Fluid for the first time at 117k putting in genuine Honda ATF. Fluid was like $15 too!
My brother has a 93 accord EX and the top of his entire exaust on the S peice got rusted away. Sounds very similar to yours i belive his is a bit louder though.
Just a thought...had my front axels replaced and changed the trans. fluid while I was at it...Replaced with Honda Auto Trans. Fluid and it shifts smoother now. The fluid change cost me $20 to do it myself and about 1 hour tops - you don't even really need to jack the car up if you don't want to!
There's a couple of reasons air would come out of the oil filler cap while the engine is running. Such as normal engine operation. Or worn piston/piston rings/worn block or any combination of the three.
You should have heard my '92 Accord when I blew out the flexpipe. It was way louder. It sounded like a dirtbike when I got on the gas. Mine was an old lady's car and its in good shape, 147000 miles and going strong.
That's NOTHING. My muffler didn't fall off b/c it was securely bungied when I got the car. But it gradually became disconnected, and the resonance ripped up the flex pipe. That's the part of the exhaust directly under the driver's seat. The critical damage came as I was driving cross country. Unable to bear the noise any longer, I went 90+ all the way across Indiana (the home stretch) alternately blasting the stereo and trying to "meditate" on the engine howl. Mine is a 91.
I noticed your abs dash light was on mine was like that for ages till i took it to a honda dealer who told me it was just the float in the fluid bottle for the ABS all he did was disconnect it and all is well. My accord has done 174000 miles now and thats the only trouble i have ever had
The system is claiming a faulty Right Rear Sensor - I just don't feel like fixing that, so I just pulled the fuse on the pump...ABS is just something I'm willing to live without.
Yes, She's got almost 105k on her now. I bought it off an older couple who finally decided to get rid of their "third" car because they rarely drove it. It's a great car and doesn't have much in the way of usual rust.
haha same here man i got a 91 honda accord... 113k miles on it... just put a new radiator in it though surprisingly a brand new one and service only 200 bucks
The stock muffler is back on and it is once again quiet...I have to drive about 15 minutes down the interstate to and from work, and even inside the car it became annoying and nasty after a few days. I just had to wait for the weekend to come around so I had time to fix it.
i have a 92 with 175,xxx 5spd and the exhaust is broke right after the cat and its crazy loud lol but it doesn't sound to bad

Did you notice loss of power and fuel economy and btw how the fuck did your muffler fall off
hady11 1 year ago
@hady11 I wouldn't say it lost power, it just revved a lot higher to put out the power. Fuel economy stayed about the same.
A massive pothole snagged it and pulled it right off the rest of the pipe.

mustangcobras128 2 years ago
just a thought
if you want some performance mods
never ever get an exhaust on a 4 cylinder
they lose a bunch of torque
and you know they have none to start with

Yes, usually. The transmissions in these cars are notoriously harsh, but they hold up rather well. They're known to go 200-300k miles.

yeah they hold up well but
if you take off your oil filler cap on top of your valve cover, and if you feel any air coming out, that means you have to rebuild your head
:(:( spoiler alert!!

does the F22A come stock on the 92's??
jimborob76 3 years ago
Yes, DX/LX Models had the F22A1 and the EX Model came with the slightly tweaked, higher output F22A6. At least as far as I know...
joc1394 3 years ago
kool beans thanks man
jimborob76 3 years ago
you're half right...
90-91 DX/LX has the F22A1s ( internal coil )
90-91 EX has the F22A4 ( internal coil..but has a different header and DP )
92-93 DX/LX same F22A1 BUT has External coil
92-93 EX/SE has F22A6 ( External coil ) / ( has secondary runners and slightly different cam than the A1 and A4
F22A4 has the best header and DP combo..( tubed NOT cast ) F22A4 and A6 has 4-2-1 BUT the A4 has the more free flowing header/DP.
