@Koshka42 It's not something taped to his chest. It's a very interesting top that I'd be interested to know more about. I never noticed it before. Got to see Rush on this tour at The Forum in Montreal. The entire concert was filmed. My first concert was Rush at Ivor Wynne in Hamilton which was a stop on the mini-tour for Hemispheres. It was not filmed in it's entirety; just a bit of the soundcheck, Geddy running to the stage in his leather pants and I think an interview with Geddy.
@nkmcfrln it was a way to record the drums, obviously, but the sound was different then standard mics put up around a drum kit. the mic followed the player body and picked up the sound that he was playing instead of all the mics recorded at once. the tried it in this song, but ditched it because of shitty quality
@bllpg9 Thanks for telling me. Now I know the story. Where did you get the info? For a long, time, I haven't been interested in listening to Rush post Hemispheres, but now I'm starting to get familiar again with what I was very disappointed and upset with and enjoying more and more of it. Having said that Rush was never the same after Hemispheres and I will never re-visit Exit Stage Left and like it. When did you get into Rush? What's your take?
@nkmcfrln My dad mentioned it to me while I was watching the video, and I did additional research on Wiki and another website that I can't of. It's called PZM mic if I'm not mistaken. I got into Rush just a few years ago, ( I'm 15 I must add) and I agree they were never the same after Hemispheres, but I love all Rush. For me, their weakest "era" so to speak, was Hold Your Fire through Snakes and Arrows. Don't get me wrong, I love all Rush I just feel they should have went back to being
why is rush not in the rock and roll hall of fame yet its obscene its prolly cause their not dead yet neil pert is the best lyrics ever this is another gem from rush i was watching their new dvd time machine tour in Cleveland and i heard this it quickly became my favorite they need more credit than what they get it pisses me off
@gratefuldank The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame isn't Rock N' Roll. There never should have been one in the first place. It's something everybody should ignore like rock music critics i.e. failed musicians who never marry and die as virgins. Critics offer very little; elements of truth and that's it. It's Rush weather here in Canada by the way: Fly By Night, A Farewell To Kings, sorry, splintered, Hemispheres, Moving Pictures; recorded in Morin-Heights which is just winter bliss.
I wrote a plea to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation to induct RUSH after seeing this video. As thousands have asked via Youtube alone, what is taking them so long? Thanks for posting.
This may be my favorite song by Rush. I love the fact that they dialed into the ska/reggae vibe that the Police and others were using at the time and turned it into a heavy song that fit seamlessly into this album.

Yeah, the bass run with synth near the end is awesome! Love the last minute and a half of this classic!
Very inspirational tune! Don't accept normality and stagnation. Be different but be yourself. Rush lyrics are some serious shit!
