This commentary points to relevant data but in itself is not very productive. The focus should be on WHAT did the spending go towards that was ineffective. The object of this video seems to be for people to come away thinking that we shouldn't invest so much money in education. We need to address the real issue of HOW we invest the money - what programs are effective (and there ARE proven effective programs), not whether we should spend less.

The problem lies with the NEA, Dept. of Education. Once we get them out of the schools, then we'll have smarter kids.

We spend more on our children than any other country in the world & they are still dumb.

Check those that succeeded in life (Gate, Sam Walton, etc.) they went to small town schools & did better than what we have nowadays.

Today's teachers are only there for the 9 month job, but want a 12 month salary. They don't care about the children.

federal government wants kids to spend most of their childhood and the adolescence away from their parents, easier to indoctrinate them that way. have to teach them while their young that their goal in life is to be a consumer, and to obey what people in authority tell them to. and also more importantly, to be a good paid slave, a drone, a worker.

I hung my head when my little brother told me the GPA he graduated from HS with. Now they want to keep them there for longer hours and year round. If the feds can't get a missile to hit a penny from 80 miles away then they are on it, but when it comes to education... eh. Where did all that money go? Charter schools, consultants, vendors of educational materials, software, equipment, bonuses paid to teachers and administrators as incentives for raising test scores. Everyone went after the money, and American schools are still turning out students who have to spend two extra years remediating before they can handle advanced courses at university.
