  • Vince did things that no one has tried in the NBA. Big difference.

  • who gives a shit. vince did it with millions of eyes watching him and all the pressure in the world to win that 2000 dunk contest. and whats up with calling it eastbay? its a between the legs dunk. that funky name shit is lame as hell. the "Honey Dip" LOL.........ps: vince carter made this jameel guys dunks look way better

  • hey whats the difference between rider and eastbay?

  • @Luraj7 rider of one feet

  • The difference is one is good at dunking, and the other was good enough to make it to the NBA, dunk on anything in his way, and score 20,000+ points along the way.

  • jr smith? u mean rider?, isiah rider? vince got the elbow dunk from sum1 too

  • @liflyguy yup, if memory serves me right, Vince Carter specifically stated in an interview that he took the elbow dunk from Jameel Pugh as well. A lot of the stuff he did in the 2000 dunk contest he emulated from Jameel. With the exception of that phenomenal REVERSE 360 that he got a perfect score from the judges.

  • @mumsdawerd ya its def jameel, i remember hoopstv.com havin tons of interviews and jameel said that vince hit him up saying he liked the dunk.....he got that 360windmill from some 1 else too, it was @ a nike camp, him and this other guy were the highest jumpers, i cant remember dudes name but I read it some where, its a famous dunker too, some1 @ hoops mixtape def knows

  • @liflyguy damn, that's crazy man. I didn't know he practiced that 360 at nike camp. I wish i knew who it was where he got the idea from, lol. Is that guy you're talking about, does he play in the NBA or is he a streetballer?

  • @mumsdawerd street baller never played in nba, i wish i could find the name

  • @liflyguy Was he on CitySlam? I bet he was.....

  • Hoopmixtape, exact reason why I watch basketball, along with all the ankle breakers. If you can't dunk yet, you have to start training. I highly recommend you to try the one I'm using - 50inch vertical[dot]com - I m 5 7 and I can dunk!

Vince Carter Took The Eastbay From Jameel Pugh? Gymrats '99 zfhmcleyegkvaexgy rkitjsbhtobfth #Hoopmixtape

  • Listen, the 360 at 0:12 is the best 360 dunk I have ever seen. I mean, the power in that dunk and the way he spins is just outworldishly.

  • J.Richardson was the first to do the real EastBay...u have to dunk it with the left going between ur right leg...duh

  • Idiots!!!!!! The East Bay was done by JR Rider fist idiots!!! and its called The Eastbay Funk check out the vids its when he played for the Timberwolves!!!!

  • hoopmixtape i think is still trying to hate, even though he tries to make it look like he aint. Since we're on this history lesson anyway, what about the honey dip? Chuck from TFB once said VC did it in 98 in a Gary Payton charity game but it seems this one goes way back as well.

PS: For all we know every dunk we think was done for the first time has been done before by some unknown cat. What matters is who makes it look good enough first for the fame. eastbay and the honey dip BELONG TO VC!

  • Vince did do the elbow dunk the summer after his rookie year at the Gary Payton all star game. It was all my friends could talk about the next day at school.

  • in the description: "JR Smith would make it popular in 1994"

    that's awesome for a 9 year old kid :D :D

  • dang this dude can slam with authority

  • doesnt mean he took it....maybe they had the same ideas at the time..and vc's dunks are way better

  • Pretty sad how many people don't understand the difference between rider's between the legs dunk and this one. Rider's was off 1 foot, this was off 2. It's a different dunk, plain and simple.

  • vc all day... who cares who did it first. theres guys that do it from the free throw line now. Vc is still best nba dunker of all time

  • @dleerox24 thats right bro, i dont give a shit about jordan or any other dudes when vinces name comes up. that dude was the only one not afraid to TRUELY go up on people, and sometimes over people. vc is the best of all time and nobody will ever match him

  • the first guy ever to put through his legs was isiah rider in 94 i think not sure

  • Orlando Woolridge did it in the 84 or 85dunk contest

  • What up hoopmixtape. Croon3. Do you have any video on Joey Johnson. He's Dennis Johnsons little brother. I played summer league with him in L.A. He was a freak. I saw him come in the gym in jeans and a baseball cap, walk up to the rim, and dunk his hat into the rim off his head. I mean literally, lean his head in the rim and drop his hat into the rim. I also saw him do a double-windmill.

    Croon3

  • VC Did it in 1995 with high school dunk contest!!!!

  • Yes he did. in the Mcdonalds All American he wont the dunk contest in 1995 doing the two foot easy bay.

  • It was woolridge, rider, kobe, this guy in da vid, then vince

  • Ever heard of JR Rider? He was the first to do that dunk...and he's from the Bay Area, hence the "East Bay"

  • yeha but this is meaning the 2 foot version of that. And JR Rider wasnt the first, orlando wooldridge was.

  • Some people are Creators ! and Some just copy from other people....

  • Whats Eastbay???

  • It's short for the Eastbay Funk Dunk, which basically denotes the dunk in which you put the ball between your legs in the air before dunking the bal.

  • yeah it was jr rider and i VC's was way tougher than this one

  • vc did it off an oop tho and thats sooooo much tougher to pull off! (by the was i think u guys mean jr rider not smith :p)

  • I disagree, for myself I could never eastbay without a lob or bounce, It's easier to jump without the ball.

  • really??? its the exact opposite 4 me, i can never time the eastbay off the bounce right, ive always just gone up with the ball. maybe its because i go off1 foot instead of 2??

  • fuck the police

  • I AGREE !!!!

  • sick video man, takes me back to watching pughs footage on hoopstv. he was a beast in hs

  • JR smith was like 10 years old in 1994 lol

pugh has always been an amazing dunker but the rest of his game... :\

  • is it just me or did he try and dee brown that 360 and fail? also, when you say eastbays, all the young people dont know what ur talking about.

  • Orlando Woodridge WAS THE FIRST ONE! in '84!

  • bro, JR Rider, not Smith, hahaha

  • Vince Carter has finesse... This cat... Eehh, not really...

  • Dang, this guy could jump.

  • JR Smith? Dont you mean JR Rider?

  • This is a true story I still got the video of VC saying it on vhs somewhere. He said also stole the honey dip from ronnie fields. But VC makes both those dunks look better anyway.

  • agreed carter is bigger, dunks harder, and jumps higher.

  • wow, jameel banged that thang with his forearm! shows what he really had, heard the hoopstv footage was AFTER a full workout session.

  • lovin' the old school, exclusive footage. keep up the great work.

  • HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF JR RIDER?

  • and how tall was he at this time??

  • i like the first dunk the best...look like he could have jumped from farther out maybe...and in high school...

  • Vince does it better

  • does anyone mind educating me on what an Eastbay is?

  • between the legs dunk

  • oic... but what does it mean by vc stole it? Im sure this guy wasnt the first to do an 'eastbay'

  • well Vince openly admitted that he didn't create that dunk so don't hate

  • and he stole the elbow dunk from Kobe

kobe did it in "98 in Manila

youtube kobe bryant in the phillipines 1998

  • how did he steal it?

  • who cares vc is a way better dunker anyway

  • no wayy!! these are typical dunks...not even TFB worthy

  • It's a true statement...He did this dunk before Vince off 2 feet. Everyone needs to stop crying. Not like Hoopmixtape is saying he is or was ever better than vince...It's fact, read the SLAM

  • actually Jameel "stole" it from JR, then VC just added a bounce of the floor from a TMac

  • Jameel's was off 2 feet, JR's was off one.

  • This Was BS

    Cant Disrespect VC like This

  • JAMEEEEL.....

  • Jr rider was the 1st to eastbay

  • Orlando Woolridge was. He did it was before Jr. In this video I was talking about a between the legs off 2 feet though, not one.

  • That shit happened before these guys had pubes.

  • i agree with 100 percent what u said d15craxx

  • That's ridiculous!!

  • JR Rider made the Eastbay Funk Dunk famous way back in like 92 or something. Kobe also did it to win the dunk comp before this. What kind of crap is this??? Vince Carter never claimed to invent it. Neither did Jameel Pugh.

  • Those were off one foot. The whole title is based on the 2 foot eastbay. Orlando Woolridge was the first noted to ever do the eastbay off one until someone has footage to prove otherwise.

  • Look at "Jameel Pugh!!!!!! NASTY SLAM!!!" in the related videos and at 1:23 he does the btl dunk and talks about how Vince was quoted in the paper as to seeing Jameel do this dunk!!!This is old news!!

  • Comment removed

  • disgraceful, hoopmixtape, absolutely disgraceful...

  • How so? Vince even admitted to getting the idea from Jameel. I'm not saying Jameel's was better im just stating what happened.

  • FIrst off Vince did that off the bounce with tmac - and this guy didnt invent the 2 foot eastbay ive seen it b4 that ..... stop hatin on vince

  • he's asking the question, hense he doesn't know.

  • read between the lines bro.

lost a lot of respect for them after this kind of BS they pull.

  • Agreed

  • If Vince came out and said ''Yo, i invinted that dunk!!'' Thats something else... But if he just did the dunk and went off thats not STEALING!!! We see people always in the Nba Dunk Contest do the same shit!

  • good point, people will always try to do dunks that others do if they feel it looks cool.

  • 13 comment cool vid

  • The first person to do an eastbay dunk was Orlando Woolridge in the 1984 NBA Dunk Contest.

  • &These ppl swear they know about basketball...

  • 100% true. Woolridge gets zero credit for this, and his is actually much nastier than Riders version.

  • first to do the 1 foot eastbay was Woolridge, first to do the 2 foot eastbay was Joey Jackson.

  • Think you mean Joey Johnson...but yes, that is true.

I will hook you up with that footage.

  • @Hoopmixtape How do you know Joey Jackson was the first to do it off 2 feet? have u seen the video? If u have seen the video, then Joey Jackson was the first to go between the legs off 2 feet...on video that we know of....

  • This must be the contest that SLAM magazine was talking about when they introduced the world to Jameel Pugh. Funny how Jameel taking off from the freethrow line off two feet wasn't as far back as I imagined back when the article came out.

I need to post Joey Johnson doing the between the legs dunk off two feet even better back in 1990.

  • that dude was lefty... vince carter is not lefty

  • so what if vince stole it who the fuck cares...he did it and won 2000 slam dunk contest. he aint make that up and he aint neva say he did.

  • This guy didnt even make it up. Isiah Rider did the eastbay i think first. WAY before ths guy so its been out. And vince did it off da bounce from T-Mac. Hoopmixtape... You just hated for no reason

  • this guy can get up there

  • Comment removed

  • wow ur a clever 1 aint u

  • i dont think people understand just how hard that is.

they make it look so easy.

...go to your nearest park and try to just jump that high. forget about even holding onto a ball.

  • Good Lord.

  • welcome to Orlando! he must really be ambidextrous, dunking lefty

  • oh shit. looks like he did.
