    Faster tempi may create fervent excitment,

    a restrained tempo shapes a flavor of piquant wit and maintains the tension in between those quarter notes.

    Speeding up is actually "easier" in a sense.

    People outside Russia/Former Soviet tend to accelerate Russian compoers' works.
