Guys it's called satire there making a strong point. None of us wanna look like this or want to see the music devolve. That's the point stop being so sensitive.
Crockett and Canon are comedians nothings off limits.
Nas is primarily concious and Nick and Affion surprised me I didn't think they could be so sharp and biting and funny.
Maybe I should read some NAS raps. I assumed he was lock-step with this sort of rap to begin with. Is his stuff REALLY much more intelligent than this visual insult?
If it is, I can't applaud NAS enough for being involved with this declaration of HUMANITY, DIGNITY, and SELF RESPECT.
Rapper Nas (aided by Nick Cannon) put together this "Public Service Announcement" to illustrate the downward spiral of rap and related imagery in today's pop culture. It's a rather funny way to showcase the buffoonery of today's "rappers." Funny thing is that if whites portray blacks the same way, there would be an uproar, but evidently, it's ok for blacks to get away with catering to the worse elements of self-degradation.
I think you missed the point - NAS is making a satirical and TRUE statement about the SAD-ASS state of mainstream Hip Hop. Whether or not whites portray us like this is secondary - why? Because way too many times, you've got ignorant-ass "rappers" takin' Massa's lead and taking the slavemaster's role. I mean, how could you not miss the very beginning of the video where NAS pretty much SPELLS OUT why he did this? Wow! Media Literacy is lost on some.
