Fuckin Lars was on the way to become a very good drummer but somewhere along the way he completely lost it and I'm not talking about speed only, it's everything, the guy can't play for shit nowadays, you can see that from the Kill 'em all albun to the AJFA album he grew a lot as a musician, even the black albun was good cause that albun was meant to be more simple than the previous albuns but the way the guy plays now after 30 years it's fuckin lame.

I've watched this video, as well as the other 7 parts of this clinic, about 10 times & just now decided to leave a comment. Dave has always been my favorite metal drummer, since listening closely to "Chemical Warfare" back in 1984. His attack & approach to the drums is unique & all his own. Modern Drummer magazine were right on to include him in Drum Gods volume 1. Dave is the epitome of metal drumming, period!

Lars...brilliant at times, yet more often than not can't keep up the high standard. His drumming style is very unique in that unlike most other great drummers, his fills are 'messy'. Not so much in a bad way, but his notes aren't played with the perfect precision that Lombardo, Portnoy etc. display... yet it's a style which has helped shape metallica's sound. On occasion he may struggle during live shows due to the band generally ramping up the tempo on already difficult songs.
