  • 10 years on and XP is still the best Windows OS ever

  • @Ograws windows 8 rocks !!

  • @xDarkGamerX9769 yes it will be indeed with the Metro look it makes it so much easier

  • Very Useful for me, thank you very Much =)

    Greetings from México

  • so how do you get your existing windows installation to run on and existing linux installation, in linux?

  • @TheLedhead44 linuxception?

  • Good video, I just hate this holes on windows, what's with your graphics? xD

  • Damn one of the best videos i have ever come across :) and installing Xp on Linux i like that... My favorit linux is and will always be Ubuntu

  • @BibToras No doubt!

  • do not risk your computer with more open virtual wormholes for viruses and stick with one os to manage!

  • @cactussheep linux computers cant get viruses

  • @vlptr wahahaha..viruses cant run easily on linux mate.coz linux have a high security when it comes on auto-running prog.,.,.,.not like in windows(OS for Noobs and babies)..

  • @Sprollucy Anything made by man can be broken by man. But Linux in general is much less susceptible to viruses due to many reasons. But vlptr is just jealous that 90% of his time and cpu goes to paranoia and anti-virus scams.

  • says i have no hard drive and i gave it 50 gb!

  • Most of the video was just you downloading and installing shit and didn't really answer any of the questions I wanted answered. Most people seem to be happy though, so eh.

  • @MrJepcats Yeah, life is pretty bad.

  • @EdgyRootStudios Nothing new under the sun mate.... Yet another "tutorial" that could have been done in under 2 minutes with smart comments instead of sequenced video game music. (no one wants to look at XP installation "scenes"..... please....)

  • @moby6111 I understand where you're coming from, but what made you think this was a "tutorial"?

  • @EdgyRootStudios hey, mate! thanks for posting this video.. Can you tell please if there's a way to run windows from linux in case when windows was installed in the first place?

  • danke

  • 500,000 views!!!!!! Well done, man

  • i don't know what linux is

  • It says i need a cd

  • UBUNTU already has it in the software center :D

  • uhhmm... I had windows xp and switched to Linux, but i can't get some of the programs i used before on xp... will it work that way too?

  • Do I have to partion the drive before hand? Like do I have to have one partion for linux and a second partion that's not being used for xp before I can install it, or can it be installed with only one partion on the drive?

  • @casey321b: for virtual machines you don't need to partition; you can just create a folder for your XP machine and point the file to be saved there (HD, external HD, Pendrive, etc etc).

  • hello mate can you tell me how you have it show ur virtual machine is installed on one of the windows switchers please

  • I'm newbie here.. Do we need to have Windows XP CD for this? Thanks for the reply. :p

  • ... DIS IS WAY 2 CONFUSING

  • where can i get windows xp for free?

  • @xXGhostChuyXx you get a job and buy it. if not your stealing!

  • can i run game on that windows xp under Linux???? If yes i would install Linux if not then shit on LInux

  • Hey i have a question. I am running XP and I installed Ubuntu INSIDE WinXP. I want to run my existing WinXP in Ubuntu using VirtualBox. Is it possible?

  • XD

  • And this is how I run Windows on my Xbox 360... lol

  • make it more simple

    its very complicated

  • how do i install windows xp when in virtual machine cause i cant find whee to install it

  • @iMaDNeZz1 you need a copy of winxp install cd fool

  • Comment removed

  • Steps 1 and 2 (and 3) are outdated, because now you can install Virtualbox straightly from Ubuntu Software Center and it just works :)

  • @juzzlin thats if you use ubuntu

  • would this work on Linpus Linux Lite by any chance?

if it dosent i will kill those who made Linux >:(

  • thank :)you

  • Thanks I like virtual box as it's a safe way to try out operating systems. I've got linux mint on vb on windows 7 and it's alot easier and safer than dual booting. Excellent video....thanks.

  • primer linux que veo que se lagea(pone lento)

  • Very usefull and cool vid.

Thanks a lot, and long lifes ubuntu.

  • If i run windows xp in virtualbox on windows 7, does that harm my system? (windows 7)

  • @MysoftwareCorp VirtualBox won't harm your system, that's what it's there for. So you can test software without hurting your host-system.

  • @MysoftwareCorp It won't harm the system but there is no point really, you can just install XP fresh since it's a better operating system (in my opinion) or just run in XP compatibility mode.

  • @MysoftwareCorp virtualbox wont harm your system but windows will (think drm and securom)

  • hey, why the windows xp opened an typed in: FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted. help please ;(

  • cool , i liked the tutorial fast and straight

    thanx bro .

  • where can I get that wallpaper?

  • what is that wallpaper u got??? where can I get it

  • you could have installed virtualbox through the software manager (synapitec) dude

  • slow as hell XD

  • Ubuntu just pwned Windows ! :D

  • did u just windows xp for free?

  • badass music man

  • New german porn format: pornthriller ! :D

  • linux is evil

  • @RedYoshiSonic12 Linux is for porn users HA!

  • @IchigoRukia09 You mean for everyone? ;-)

  • whats linux...?

  • @mYcHeMicAlFreaK17 Linux is an OS like Windows, but unlike Windows... Most Linux distribution are free, and open, and most Linux software is free, and open... Linux Ubuntu, and Linux Mint are the easiest to use for people new to Linux... Linux doesn't get viruses like Windows and for the most part seem to run smoother...

You can run most windows software in Linux OSes , but there are many some that don't work... Over all however I have grown to Love Linux... It can be hard to learn at first.

  • @maw88ify Linux is the kernel ... but when most people say Linux they are talking about a Linux distro...

  • I keep on getting a message that says I don't have the windows XP disk when I have Joe XP. I need a bit of help.

Also, must I always have the XP disk in to run Virtual Machine or do I just need to install once and done?

  • @EdgyRootStudios hi thanks for video. i am bit lost here at 3:16 how come you got the setup page. when i go to setting its say "FATAL: no bootable medium found! System Halted".

do you know what is going on.

  • why dont you use wine. It's not perfect but it gets the job done most of the time.

  • can we install and use software in virtual box which run only on Microsoft?

  • great music. I want it.

  • music feels like porn?

  • how much power it take from the computer is the question..

  • uhm, para que quiero un windows en mi linux?

  • excellent although this is 3 years old it gave me an idea, IT WORKS!!!

  • Thanks for the video, But I have a question :

Why we need step 3 ? isn't the virtual Machine work normally if we do or don't edit user/group ?

If any one now, plz reply... and thanks.

  • i dont want information i want to download

  • Bill Gates new edition of windows signature edition check it out /watch?v=bp-EHe7Tjho

  • ubuntu + XP is the sexe yo!

  • Hello, I can't install the package virtualbox-3.2

It says at the status Error: Wrong architecture 'amd46'

    Can you help me please?

  • The problem with any virtual machine is you cant run graphics card drivers. And I have also discovered problems with many 2D applications as well.

It is far better to just have separate hard drives and run a different OS on each, yea the rebooting sucks, but you know for sure you stuff will run on what OS is was made for.

Thats what I am doing until there is a really good virtual machine that runs the drivers of all your hardware and all the software works as if if the OS was all by itself.

  • Invoking the devil* by the way, where did you get your desktop image?

  • Why not install XP instead of the Linux in the first place?

  • @Rpahut1 I can't say specifically, as there are a multitude of reasons why one would use Linux. However, some of the more common reasons to use Linux include coding, increased freedom, and learning how an OS works. He probably ran XP in a virtual box for some game that he couldn't get to work with Wine.

  • @Ubernoob85 I can understand why one would use Linux, though provided list of reasons can equally be applied to the Windows. Question is - why use one OS + set of software tools to run slower constrained version of another OS, especially when it can be natively installed on the same machine.

  • @Rpahut1 Well, he may need to use Linux for things that he can't do on Windows (IE: an editor, ect.) and he may use Windows so little that he can't justify a Dual-Boot (his only other option). Another reason may be security.

  • @Ubernoob85 You got it 100% right. :-)

  • was ist der music... mien deutsch ist sehr schlecht. weil ich comme aus england...

  • i don't know ubuntu can do that , so how we can the windows softe en virtual box ? ( i'm a windows xp user )

  • hey can u play games on the Window XP visualiser

  • nm found it in the description.

  • love this song, who plays it?

  • man my XP works like yours veryyyyy slow what i can do?Instead to buy some RAM because y dont have money:))

  • Viva linux aunque yo uso Mac...

  • why you have a german edition of windows xp?

  • @thekillerpcone I'm not 100% sure, but maybe it is because I am German. ;-)

  • @EdgyRootStudios oh also bist du deutsch oder nicht?? also ich bin deutsch...

  • @thekillerpcone yep, bin auch Deutscher

  • @EdgyRootStudios wuuuuuhu deutschland power :DDD

    danke fürs video

  • @westsidethug45 Schlaaaaaand! Jetzt geht alles!

  • @EdgyRootStudios juuuhuu^^

  • @EdgyRootStudios SCHADE DEAUTSCHLAND ALLES IST VORBEI!!!

  • @EdgyRootStudios lol you owned his ass

  • imo its windows>linux>mac thats just cuz i love playing games and geting to run on linux is to much of a pain in the ass and i havent even found a way to use my dx11 card with linux yet

  • you can also boot ubuntu with a cd, but when you restart the computer without cd, goes it back to windows with all your saved information?

  • @skullmastermw

thats because your just running it off the cd, you have to run the installation file.

  • I got to where you add virtual box as user. The rest was too small to read

  • @FlamingoIII you don't really need to even run it as it's own user as long as it's not root =/ just need to download it from sun and then there is this kernel module you need to add so get the kernel source from your repository and virtualbox will give a complaint telling you to run the script that autocompiles it's module for your kernel version and pop it in then your good to go click add new machine and just play around in the gui shits really simple after the kernel module bit

  • thank you for the video i was looking for a vertual machine for my ubuntu 9.10 so thanx m8

  • Can i play games for Xp and Download documents and more with this ?

  • @Sandquisst: or you can download Wine and use it to play windows games :)

  • @MrShoy Are you Sure i can play game??

  • @Sandquisst: Yes. But you should check the wine website to know which game works or not.

If it's the latest game just released I'm pretty sure it will be hard that works, but if it is already 1 yr old, it should be able to work.

  • @MrShoy But WoW or Maplestory? :)

  • @Sandquisst: WoW yes it works.

Maple, you have to try it to see if it works good.

  • @MrShoy ok thank you very much :)

  • @MrShoy Yeah but it lags as hell.

  • @Hamster1505: Most of the times Lag comes from Internet Bandwith, not from a "emulator"

Some users said some of their windows applications under Wine worked better than using it on the windows machine. Depends all by the Computer and Internet :D

  • Mr.Shoy , not all the games work thru Wine , it "helps" you to run binary files ... Some games need adobe air or directX... One big question: Can i install drivers or directx on this virtual machine ? I played League of Legends and this is the reason i would install Windows ... otherwise Linux is better ... I would do anything to play League of Legends on my Ubuntu !

  • @thegoodhood: I know that.

You can install directx on Wine.

LoL isn't supported good yet, you should use a virtual machine or a windows partition to play that game.

Btw you can still check the wine website(now LoL support is counted as "garbage" means it runs slow and laggy)

  • @MrShoy actually nobody can play LoL on linux right now... even if you can in install it you cant run it...

  • @thegoodhoot: that is what I said.. :P

Garbage level equals to a "no" :D

  • @MrShoy so , you can install drivers in the virtualbox?

  • @thegoodhoot: I'm not quite sure, but I think you can.

If the Virtual Machine allows you to enable the 3d acceleration, then yes you can do it.

  • Yes if device is connected via USB

  • can you play games in the boxed windows ?

  • Why would you want to run windows on Linux, you ask. It's so you can run applications like Photoshop or Winamp or any program that's restricted to Windows without having to reboot the whole computer so you can start in Windows, or if you don't even have Windows handy at all.

If you don't see a need for it, then don't get it. It's for those who do!

  • Or you could use Gimp and Rhythmbox.

If your so set on Photoshop you could just run it in WINE

  • U don't need virtual box for that :) u can use WINE which lets u run windows softwares on Linux.

  • @GentleBoy17 Yea but Wine is limited. It can't run Photoshop properly with full RAM, and anyway the system profile won't allow it coz it won't get the specs, and most installers won't even install properly

  • it should be noted however that there is still ZERO USB support in a Karmic Koala build when running Vbox. nobody is talking about that - all this conversation is about is "why would you wanna do this?"

this video is obsolete by current build standards.

  • Linux desktops DO NOT freeze ALL THE TIME, its your brain that freezes

  • @buzzzIips

it freezes when you dont have enough RAM memory

  • why would you want to run windows on linux or mac?

i wouldn't want to run linux or mac in my windows. i think there is not such an app for that

  • As you would probably know, 90% of the WORLD'S laptop and desktop computers are Windows, usually because computer are more appealing to the average customer when theres no REAL work involved (os installation), and most of the time, the pre-installed os is, you guessed it, Windows. Therefore, if you're the sort of person who loves tocreate viruses/bugs), it's muchmore worthwhile to make it compatible with Windows, as like I said before, if you rly wna make a virus, you have a 90% of it being good

  • And the way Linux is built, you would have less virus spread targeting it, it would be harder to get computers infected too

  • @papas182 To install programs that only run on windows.

  • anneni sikeyim fener

  • Can you use the webcam feature on yahoo messenger on xp while running linux?

  • como es posible que windows dentro de linux sea mas rápido?

  • nice the mac style ;) but linux is better than shitty mac ;)

  • @melpy90 mac is build from linux:P

  • no mac is build from unix like linux but gnu/linux is another planet :P mac can crashes linux never!!! mac is expensive...linux is free and more fast...

  • oh yeah thanks c:

windows > crashes all the time

    linux > works or doesn't

mac > works or the app you want just doesn't exist:O

  • windows works fine only if you know how to use it..its bad quality is that there are more viruses..becouse there are many persons enviouses or lamer that want to ruin our life...

  • @melpy90 Agreed Ipods and I pads only thing apple has going for them, and that hardare sucks you cant really see the internet correctly they dont run Flash and I am not sure if they eve run java apps.

  • @melpy90 Shitty Mac? Lol, I love Linux but I saw how MAC works... Looks like u never tried MAC...

  • @melpy90 shitty mac you say? hmmmm... well... mac os is based on freebsd so I don't need to say more... think again kid.

  • @melpy90 and pc is better than gay penguin linux :P

  • mitico.....^_^

  • Once I upgrade my computer to my standards, I might as well uninstall Windows & reinstall it inside Ubuntu. Right now I would only use Windows if I play video games, and I don't want to wait for startup apps and stuff if I just want to web browse. :P

  • Why bother?

No one needs windows except for game addicts! And they need a life!

  • Their are many applications which run for Windows and Mac but not for Linux, so this is a great idea if you want some programs that are only for Windows.

  • @johnleeb I like Linux, but I would like to respectfully say to you that I RARLEY game on my PC and when I do it's online not via disc. I use Windows and it does not crash on me. It's either I'm lucky or I know how to maintain. I'm a Windows user, but use my Xbox and Playstation to game.

  • Wait so we need an xp disc?

  • one problem that most users will come across with virtualboxing any OS = USB SUPPORT.

we need a video showing how to get USB support with the current build of Ubu and the current VB app.

i setup a VB to try both a lesser version of ubu (9.04c i believe) & win xp to enable an MP3 player that is yet unsupported by default in karmic, and the thing wouldnt run USB devices no matter how i specified them at install/setup of the VB.

yes, i tried creating "usbusers" & other users after googling.

  • Im having the same problem dude. zero USB support.

  • @delvis11 bütün fenerlielrin götünü sikeyim

  • does the virtual machine detect an integrated webcam?
