do you know if all spyderco knives have that deminsion my manix 2s pocket clip is lose and needs tightened i dont know wat size or shape bit i need tho
I remember when I had just received my D2 Para I bent the pocket clip when I was bending down the the clip caught on a show box. Luckily I was helping the shoe dept and my main dept was the knife counter so I repaired her when i got back to the counter. It has been bent a couple of more times since then and bent back but it still does not look the same but it looks nice and used.
hey cajun ,, looks like you have a common problem ,, pocket clips are a pain in the butt , ,, im retired and with time on my hands , came up with an idea to eliminate pocket clips all together ,,,,, yes ,, no clip to get in the way of anything ,, no need for them ,,,,,, i am talking to a relative of mine ,, he's a corporate attorney ,,, i want to fine out how to mkt. the idea ,,without getting white washed ,,, anyway,, good luck with your clips ,
thanks for the vid cajun. I just flipped the pocket clip on my para 2 to tip up, and mine took a T-6. I tried 2 different sets of torx bits and both fit a T6 perfectly snug. I wonder if spyderco used T7 and T6 hardware randomly or at different times. That would surprise me though.
What up Blaze! That's sucks the Spydie charges for screws and pockets clips. I stripped the paint and gashed my BM 585 clip and called them up and they sent extra screws with the pocket clip free. Got 'em like the same week too. Still a perrrty knife though.
you should use lock tight when you put the screws back in - otherwise they'll loosen up on you after a few months pulling it out of your pocket and banging into things.
When putting the screws back in, to prevent re tapping, I would have backed the screws out first before screwing them in. I'm glad you were able to bend the clip back into place.
I destroy pocket clips. I've torn up the best of them... both of the Spyderco pocket clip types, the flat ones like you show, plus the wire ones. Heck, I tore up 2 of the wire ones in about 2 weeks time! Heck, even my favorite brand, Emerson, I've tore up clips on, and theirs are over-engineered. But the one pocket clip I've yet to destroy is that Benchmade split arrow design. Benchmade imbues them with some kind of magic that deflects snags. Maybes its the angles and pointed end?
I use to catch my knife on my stupid steering wheel cover all the time when I would get outta my car, with the same affect. Always annoying when it happens, but quick fix. $6 bucks a piece... dang... looks like I will just keep bending mine back out as long as I can. Nice video Blaze, keep'em coming.
@xxmtgxx yeah... that's disappointing coming from spyderco. When my clip screws stripped on my bm710, i called them for 2 screws, they sent me 4 screws (clip only takes 3), and a new clip too....
Have to say I was kinda disappointed to hear you say Spyderco wouldn't send you a replacement pocket-clip for free. I stripped the screws on my Zero Tolerance 0301 and Kershaw sent me some more and an extra pocket-clip for free, no questions asked.
And how in the world does one bend a pocket clip like that in the first place?

@thecajunblaze where can i get one of those skrewdrivers? I have three pocket clips that either need tightening or converted to tip up carry
ShockAndAwe408 5 months ago
@ShockAndAwe408 I picked these up at a local hardware store.
thecajunblaze 5 months ago
I dont think the screws are torx. I use a 5/64 hex on the pivot screw and a 1/16 on the clip screws.
douglasfcalvert 6 months ago
@douglasfcalvert they are torx, but sometimes allen/hex will work

i've done this before. The towel is always a good thing. Helps keep the pliers from scratching up the clip.
