  • Nice sound you got there! Keep playing dude!

  • Where did you buy this great guitar ?

  • everyone who hates on mayer has been brainwashed by having girls go crazy over his radio pop stuff. he can actually play the blues really good

  • nice strat! '86 Mij Strat here too :)

  • Hey , that's great playing and TONE !

I have a couple of JV strats and the same AMP - what settings are you using please?

  • WOW!!!.... i mean wow heh.... im seen a 88-89 mij fender strat on ebay and this video just gave me goo goo eyes towards it.... I wanted a G&L rampage initially but now this has got my wheels turning. + i want a guitar with some history behind it... i dont like new stuff.

  • great choice of songs. you got a good grasp on the strat sound.

  • People talk against them cause they are way better then the american made. More expensive and better hadcrafted.

  • THE FENDER JAPAN WERE THE BEST GUITARS EVER

  • God.. That Guitar, that tone, and dude you can play! :)

  • You can play son... nice chops

  • the song of J.Mayer seems lot from ppl get ready of c. Mayfield

  • Good strat and good player!!

  • I admire your MIJ Strat ,and you play very well.. check my MIJ strat you wont be dissapointed its a 57 r-i..

  • really nice, this is papatom from stratconnection com. stop by my site and get connected. So many musicians are learning the vintage MIJ Contemporary Super Strats, Strats and Telecasters are the best made by Fender after Leo sold the company.. lol papatom/stratconnection com.

  • Cool tone but come on John Mayer? Meh.

  • its kinda under the bridge

  • Nice vid mate, whats the serial on this guitar out of interest, this was a good year for the jap strats i believe.

  • Hey. You're good.

  • man, that tone.

  • Yeh...nice guitar tone...very expressive picking...sounds like this young man can play!...Keep it up!

  • Put a black pickguard and buy a tube amp, you'll have a beatiful guitar with a mindblowing tone!

  • Hey Bro. EXELENT CLEAN SOUND!!!! WHAT STRINGS (and string gauge) ARE YOU USING ? THANKS . . .

  • nice sound..

  • What settings are you using?

  • I got a really nice fender strat and i cant get it to sound anything like that

  • Wow, I would never have thought that my amp would sound that good with a strat :O Very awesome dude. nice playing btw.

  • @Vazquez100

It's called a Glossed neck. It's on most of the 50's era stratocasters.

  • @Vazquez100 Actually, it's natural. I have a jappie myself and the fretboard finish is awesome. Some Mexico and cheaper American strats don't have this kind of finish, so that's why they look bland. American guitars have this finish, but not as "glossy" as the old japs.

  • Fender Japan '80's Strats Are Really Cool Strats!! I Have One Myself In My Strat Collection!! Great Playing By The Way!! Rock On, Bro!!

    - BigWillieWillHom :)

  • good groove

  • great dude ....

  • Like the tone you've got. Got the same amp for home playing. Will have to try those settings. Is that a JV Squier or Jap Fender?

  • @alwaysopen If I remember correctly, all the 80s MIJ Strats are 57 RI.

  • You play with feeling..

    Keep rocking boy ;-)

  • Excellent tone ...nice job...

  • Cool

  • I think I?m getting that Gear.

LOve the MIcro Cube for home playing

  • how do you do the hammer on at 0:59 -1:00 can't figure out

  • Lovely crisp sound, do I detect a bit of Mr. Frusciante there?

  • You play a little lower? Eb tuning?

  • good sound not only because the guitar is good, but because the player is good too, nice feeling

  • Really good man !!!

  • '57 MIJ Fender Stratocast..its use texas pups?

  • and you're only using the Roland cube? no pedals?

i was doubtful between the Roland cube and the fender frontman 212R and i play the exact same artists and style you do and i must say, if that is pure strat (which i happen to have) and RC power i'm totally in love with the Cube!

  • sweet sound!

  • @Eduardot12345556 Yes ...very nice playing..... assface????

  • @Eduardot12345556 assface??iam sure u look like one

  • I have an 88 MIJ Strat as well. How do you know it's a '57 RI?

I paid $400 for mine new - how about you?

  • For a young player... you have some soul my man.. excellent playing.. keep playing and practising..

  • not bad but tune up brother...

  • good job man i like it

  • where did you get that guitar?

  • Awesome! Sounds great!

  • Congratulations, i like it. Sound forever!!!

  • jesus christ

  • Hey there great playing... Was just wondering if you have any thoughts on a 1986 fender strat made in japan . It's white with a maple fretboard...its on ebay the seller says there is a small crack in the headstock which was professionally repaired and is now "rock solid"...I think i'll be able to get it for £400 roughly $650

    Cheers

  • dude john mayer is a good musician. don't call me a pop faggot either, cuz i'm an indie guy anyway. i just think he plays good music and he really can perform too. just as good as the national, radiohead, and all that good stuff- just different.

  • blues not pop there buddy.

  • this is good but not blues

  • yeah but squier now made some new guitars to revive the glorious days of squier japan, its the squier classic vibe 50s, 60s stratocaster ,50s telecaster ,duo sonic, and they have vintage basses too...etc

  • @rodrigoconstantino

They made but i can compare japan stratocasters to new Made in usa FEnders, and i think that old japans are better than ths 2000 + stratocaster. Vibe never will be better:P

  • i have a MIJ '88 strat... theyre soooo good, better than modern strats in my opinion. mine has a black scratchplate though.

  • Man that is a gorgeous sound. What is it people have against the old Jap strats anyway?

  • @DeafFret Nobody has anything against the MIJ Strats. They were vastly superior to the crap Fender was making in the USA during the same period, and even today. The MIJ quality rivals Custom Shop guitars of today, making them extremely collectible. Most who had them assumed they were cheap knockoffs and beat the hell out of them, without realizing the gem they had. Rolls Royce quality for Honda prices.

  • @DeafFret they're definately generally the best build quality...

  • @DeafFret They're Japanese LOL

  • @DeafFret Cause of the crisis in the fender US between 82-89 probably. The old Jap is good, if not better than the new US.

    Id love a 60`s Pre-CBS thought.

Got a 87`57 MIJ with Kahler Spyder tremolo org. myself.

  • is 300 a good buy for one of these?

  • YES.

  • Thats a great buy

  • nice job, stay so and never stop playin'

    practice,practice and practice...

  • quick Lil Question

Tell Me The Differences between a Fender And Squire ....Anybody....

Coz Im Thinking Bout Getting A Fender And Don't Want to Get it if sounds just like My squires

  • squier is made in china or indonesia and lacks the quality that fender has. they're nice guitars, but a fender sounds better and is the real deal. fender is made in mexico, the USA or Japan.

  • @thegoodtruth they are now being made in Australia. im getting a MIA standard sunburst strat for my birthday, for now i have a Ashton AG132 electric guitar. with whammy bar.

  • go into a shop and try one and you'll know... streight away.

  • cuntz

  • How old are you?? You play really good!!

I like your style, keep on rocking, well done!!

  • man, that's pretty cool, very nice

  • godamn that litl cube sounds good

  • Very nice. I have an '87 MIJ '57 Reissue (candy apple red) that I bought new and still have, great guitars indeed!

  • how much was this!!??

  • I have a MiJ Strat too, 1986.

Got her for £295, mostly because a few dents here and there.

    SHE IS A BEAUT!

    I love her to bits.

    Best guitar EVAR!

Awesome tone too. I love that pickup selection (neck and middle) it is awesome.

  • how much was it?

  • たまりませんな!

  • effects ??//

  • really incredible tone ! i'm really jealous ! i only have a "mexican strat" how much does yours cost ?

  • oh i bought it on an annual guitarmeeting, but you can always search on ebay 'nsuff

  • nice tone out of a micro cube

    you rock =)

  • lovely guitar & cool laid back guitar playing that ''waiting on the world to change sounds cool

  • Nice sound man, i love Fender

  • I just bought one, second hand, its older than me ! It was first purchased in the 60's...

  • Nice, how much?

  • Honestly I got it for Rs. 18000. Scratches here and there, one of the nuts was also broken etc but when i heard it for the first time i was in love...she has such a beautiful sound...btw bro nice playing, I chekd ur vids out : ) Really like your choice in music too.

  • Rs. 18000?

Do you know how much that is in USD?

Thanks for watching my videos XD

  • this kid is fucking nasty. we should be friends for ever.

  • really cul guitar i hav 1 lyk it except its a 1958 strat

  • Sounds Great!!!

  • really good

  • when did u start playing guitar and how old r u now? ;-)

  • sonido perfecto para el tipo de canciones ;o)

  • omg man your a guitar god..

  • Sweet. Are these the stock MIJ pups ? Or 57/62's ?

  • Sweet tone

  • The sound is just great.

  • One more thing....:)

Ya know, if they stuck a 9.5" radius neck on these strats, not one person would buy a US strat ever again.

Right now you'd pay twice as much for the US strat, but it's not twice the strat! I honestly believe it's the other way around and the Jap strat is twice the guitar the US one is. Why don't you just try one?

  • Can you just tell me something about your guitar.... What is a neck radius(7.25 or 9.5)?, Is it basswood or Alder body? Are the pickups stock? btw it sound like a dream

  • This model has 7.25" radius neck and made from basswood, which is awesome to listen to, as you can hear. Basswood is a great tone-wood somewhere between the more mellow alder and the brighter ash. Personally, I'll take basswood over both of these anyday. Thr Jap guitars are superior quality to USA models. So much care and attention to detail, it's unreal. They should be selling for two to three times their asking price, they really are that good.

  • How much are they?

  • Just google 'japan' + 'stratocaster'. You can find them for 500 dollars new and 300 dollars 2nd hand on ebay if you're really lucky.

Some day these will be worth more than the US ones, the world is starting to catch on to how good they are.

    I kid you not.

  • Also, should say that the more recent models are available in Alder and/or Ash if you're not into basswood. Either way, the tone is awesome and the strat is a perfect guitar to play.

  • Man, i crave its sound. Also; great playing.

  • exact same taste as me. amazing tone as well.

if possible, please give me the exact tone knob settings you have at the time of this vid

    and amp settings if possible.

    thank you.

  • see the oldest comments

  • yeah ... john mayer rule's

  • nice guitar and damn your pretty good man

  • Nice one! I too have a Jap '57 and I can tell you "we are spoilt rotten". They beat the USA strats for tone any day. How do you find it though for fast playing and blues bends? Great playing btw.

  • Black Panel Setting

    Tone: 2 o'clock

    Gain: 11 o'clock
