I have a 95 GTS and walk all over those 96~98's with similar mods than mine...which are no mods lol...Only the 4v 4.6s are good in the SN95's IMO the 5.0 is the best EFI V8 to build dollar for dollar
my friend has a 96 gt vert and i have a 97 coupe, his car ran and 8.7 in the 1/8th and i walk all over him but the 96-98 are turds from the factory my best time when my car was stock was 9.45 with and rt of .04
1996-1998 was the lowest H.P. build for GT's due to the none P.I heads and intake. Ive owned a 1997 and 1998 and both sucked at the track compared to my 1995 mustang.ford rated them at 215 H.P at 4,400 rpm's 285 foot pound of torc at 3,500. wished I could race your 97 with my 95 GT.
I could count a full 2 seconds when you went forward before the guy in the alledge cobra even moved. run a 1995 302 car with about same bolt on's as you have and someone that can drive and bet you would be surprised. Im runnin 8.50's with mine with only gears,pullies,flows,65mm bbk TB and 70 mm c&L mass air, and K@N filter. MT slicks. stock block.8.50 is 1/8 mile run.
I have MAC Long Tube headers, MAC Off road H-pipe not cats, BBK cold air intake, Ford Racing King Cobra clutch, Steeda Triax Short throw shifter, Steeda Clutch cable and adjuster, Ford Racing Ring and pinion gears 3.73s and I think thats about it, Oh yeah Flowmaster GT 40 Mufflers

nice what mod you have on your GT?
i was have 5.0 with 4.10s & now 1996 4.6 With 4.10s the 5.0 was stronger but i can catch up with LS1 with my stock 4.6 npi with gears
