Part 2:

The opening puppet show is "Santa"'s re-enactment of their meeting, and when the "Brandon" puppet confesses to "killing just for fun" it is "Santa's" moral judgment, not an actual confession. "Brandon" is not only in danger but having trouble understanding why "Santa" would treat him this way. Pretty f'd up but brilliant stuff in the context of a 4-1/2 minute "holiday special". Woo!

This may have been covered in an earlier post; too many to read. Anyway, this is not only a great song but one heckuva condensed short story. As I see it, "Brandon" still believes in Santa and, having been tormented for that, went over the edge not only to avenge himself but to defend the big guy. The "Santa" character is some sort of Dexter type without the redeeming moral code, and used what he learned about Brandon's Santa obsession to trap him. (cont'd)
