  • I want to mainly go GTI but also I want to float charge my small battery bank for when/if the grid goes down. I have 3 PV panels 500W total each running 24V and I will run them parallel to a 30A 12V/24V LCD Display Solar PWM Battery Charge Regulator "CM3024Z". I need to know if I parallel my pos and neg wires from my solar array to the GTI and also to the charge controller that that setup will accomplish 1. keeping my batteries float charged at all times and 2. any excess to go to grid tie.

  • Can you run your wind gen and solar at the same time with the morning star charge controller? Thanks

  • So I know nothing about alternative energy sources, say I had 4x 1000 watt lights running basically 24/7 how many solar panels would i need to run that?

  • @DeFensorForTiSs The 1000 watts is per hour. so 24 hours is 4x1000x24=96,000. so for example, if you get 5 hours of good sunlight per day, divide 96000 by 5. you get 19,200. that is how many watts you need to be producing per hour of sunlight. so if you find some solar panels that you like, just divide 19,200 by however many watts the solar panels produce. you will also want a few extra panels just in case. Just to warn you, It is going to be expensive to get something to run that much power.

  • At 3:16 you are talking about the tristar ts60. im looking at doing the same set up. but (4) 100 watt duponts, (1) 400 watt air x. I realize the charge controller is the "heart" of the system but we cant afford $600 bucks for an mppt outback or xantrex. I like the ts 60...can you run your wind gen, and the solar system at the same time through he ts 60...thanks

  • @toddac1 had grammer errors

  • What's the wind-cam for?

  • Nice set up. However I would argue that building the panels yourself is the best alternative for those who have the skills and not the cash. Since 2007 you can now buy great panels at $1.5-$2 per watt. Great video though.

  • i would hate to fall from that height

    look at 2:53

  • it looks like you have about 9ampz are you sure its 7 ? an is your charge controller set to 12,24 or 48

  • what is the wattage of that inverter and how much did it set you back. Ilike to get a gride power inverter so I can also sell power back to the power company like my excess yet also power the home if I lose power and want to build one that will grow with me like how you are doing untile I'm completly off the gird and then my grid will be my back up. if you know what I mean.

  • nice set up friend. Good stuff!

  • umm. no

  • A good system but too complicated and expensive for the average homeowner I believe.

Visit solar cabin for small use wind power and solar power ideas!

  • Think of the energy saved if they'd started the project in Spring instead of the 1st October!

If he sustained and Eco footprint of zero for the rest of his life Mr Stroud would never offset the energy used the overuse of materials and machinery.

How much sense does it make to have to insulate more external wall surfaces by having having multiple buildings!

The people growing the weed were probably doing more for Gaia!

I checked the Survivorman...and commented on part1 ..sorry Les.

  • Hey man, Just wanna say thank you for all your work. You're helping GAIA. Jah Bless.

  • hey utite weirdo

    whats ur probelm with hookers

    they come in handy

and solar of grid systems are improving dramatically year to year

    so fak ooff jacoff

some people dotn give a sheat about gay gaia and do help old ladies

it jsut hapens to like to generate there own power,

and when its gonna be cheaper then paying the ulitity company a cheap ass indian like u gonna be the first to jump in

  • is it a sound financial investment?

  • do you actually save money?

  • it seems like you put out more money than you could ever possibly save

  • RS 232 interface lead?

  • wind generators go to same charge controller as panels?

  • @jordansname wish he would answer this for us....:)...guess ill call morningstar in the a.m.

  • hi,,,could you tell me where u got the wind turbine meter and stop switch boxes from,,

  • what are you using for a dump load for your air X and your tristar charge controller

  • They have a built in regulator.

  • Amazing. But what all do you use the power for? And why not charge it indefinitely?

  • go to

    greengeekjobs com

  • OK NOW I have 4 indep 60 watt systems like Ive told you about,so if one gos dead I have BACKUP,I have never had to use #3 or#4 KEEP IT SIMPLE YOU CANT BEAT FREE 110 POWER

  • This guy has to much stuff an has spent big money, lookslike never ending nightmare to me,,,people look at your power bill on an off peak hours is what you payed for,now add up all the ABATEMENT CHARGES an see where your money going,Goverment can not charge you for sun shine Yet

  • I have 1 60watt panel($350) 1 ,7 amp charge controler ($20) 1 12v batt. $55.00 ,1 inverter 1500 watt ($25 at yard sale)=$450 us.live central arziona, runs tv, raido ,lap topALL DAY LONG never has went dead untill 3 hrs after dark.ho the lap top is picking up free service,an runs a $59 for 5 year majc jack phone service FREE ANY where calls any time TRUTH SO HELP ME GOD, So spend all the big money you want!! I keep it simple COST IS EVERYTHING>ironweve@yahoo

  • cost insures your house doesn't burn to the ground.

  • If you need an electrician they can help with wiring and understanding loads.

  • Hello, cost is a big problem I have a simular set up and would like to tell you my idea>Get a 12v lesson motor, 2x pully and belt to a harbor freights 10,000 watt power head then a small float charger back to the batteries. Im gonna try it as soon as I get the $400. With the pannels and the wind generator with the charger it should have lots of extra energy!

  • Nice set-up. I forgot how dakotans pronounce roof "ruff" I miss it here in Texas (So Dak Native)

  • Awesome web site! That van rocks!

  • for your location...do you usually get more electric from the solar panels or the wind generator?

  • Why did you choose EVERGREEN SOLAR? Is the product solid and inexpensive? Thanks, John

  • very very informative, its just the kind of system Im looking to build (one that is expandable).

  • Nice one .. shame about the Air-x though ..

  • Very nice setup.

    :D

  • Five stars, man, thumbs up. I notice that your batteries are not in a vented box; is it not necessary to contain the hydrogen (which I realize is the lightest of gases and therefore gone before you know it, but Other People recommend isolation)?

  • Nice video, ive been looking for something like this.
