  • Santa's got a gun. You kids really better be nice now.

  • the gun was never shot dropped once...

  • LOL that was Christ-MAS !!!

  • french rifles the best of the world

  • This is a MAS 49/56. It was based on a 1938 design, for a semi-automatic rifle which was to equip the French army in 1941. Hitler and the god of battles decided otherwise...

I had one for free, with as many rounds as I wanted, and also the various types of grenades the MAS could launch... just for a year, during my military service.

  • That is not a MAS-36.

  • This is an exeptional rifle and quite possibly my favorite MBR design. It is my "Got-To" MBR. I bought mine winty fresh, with 4 mags and all accessories for $400.00 a few years back, I know have about 10 mags for her.

  • That is a Mas 49. It was the first semi-automatic rifle the French used and designed themselves. Nice vid! 5 stars!

  • do you own a famas too ?

i had the honor to test it .. it's a wonderful weapon, u should try it

  • I have an un-issued MAS that came in a lot of rifles i picked up, flat-ass new condition manufactured 1972 i beleive. wondering if you would know what it would run for price wise.?

  • I would go as far as $1200 if it truely is in great condition and with accessories. No lower than $1000, though!

  • its truely in great condition with 12 mags, picked it up with a handfull of mousers and parts kits from a lady i work with whose husband passed away last year. you would shit to know what i picked everything up for, im in at about $76/rifle for the 12 of them. but thanks, made my day! next few gun shows i will have to look around and price some of these items out.

  • Holy Shit!! I would say you stole them. Yeah, if you don't want the rifle I am sure your gonna get your money out of it!!! LOL Have a good one and deffinetly push the price at the shows, god knows everyone at them does!!

  • "I got better things to do than argue with the internet." Pot and the Kettle, sir! That is all you have been doing since you have commented on this site! Arguing

  • Your absolutely correct! And I choose not to let people do that on my video page. It is my choice to delete people who will treat others without disrespect to avoid bickering!

  • The point was not that I have an AR. It was that I do not favor just French rifles, but if your such a collector you would have at least noticed the excellent condition of the MAS in my video. I am not impressed with your childish reply. And don't call me a slob, please!

  • haha what a dick. An unissued 49/56 will always be a great rifle if you can find the black tipped surplus ammo ;)

  • Maybe if your smart azz would look at my other vids you would see I own American rifles. Next time try not to make such an azz outta yourself.

  • This rifle is 7.5 but when we first started shooting it was not feeding properly. We were afraid it was the rifle but lucky for us we bought reloaded ammo and it has not had a problem since. Thank god.

  • The Mas 49/56 did very well in combat. The gun could take a beating and still shoot very straight. Where that guns runs into trouble is when Bubba(Here in the U.S.) got his hands on it and did a hack job converting it to .308... I feel the 49/56 in the 7.5 will hold it's own with the M1a...

  • It is well known that the French since WW2 have had a habit of retaining surplus military goods long after they're obsolete. Perhaps if this were not the case more MAS-49s and even 36s may have proliferated in greater numbers and we'd have a different opinion of this piece.

BTW, it's okay for me to hate on the French. I have a French last name. ;-)

  • Actually, I'm not very fond of the M1 Carbine either. It was designed in 6 weeks and constructed of parts by so many subcontractors that shoddy construction was inevitable. The sole advantage it has IMO is being lightweight. Good for rabbits though.

I'm not hating on the French in general, just their politcal/military decisions and choice of infantry rifles.

Look how short the MAS-49 is compared to it's weight. Hence, "tubby". French rifles do make good conversation pieces.

  • 3 words: Dien Bien Phu

But I did some research regarding this rifle. Suprisingl I learned that if it weren't for a hidebound military command, socialists and commies stalking about and general social indifference they Frenchies might've had the MAS-49 much earlier...say by May 14 1940.

For the Frogs, having a semi-auto infantry rifle might've made a big difference. But still, after WW2, Algeria and French Indo-China I have very little use for the French or their tubby rifles.

  • You say " I have very little use for the French or their tubby rifles". Well, you're spending you time here making stupid remarks. Take the vid for what it is or move one. I happen to own 2 of them, and find them quite nice. Besides, half of the French troops at Dien Bien Phu were using US M-1 carabine, so by your logic, those suck too. What next? You're going to guage the M-1 Garand by it's performance at Kasserine Pass? Want to hate the French, fine, go do it elsewhere.

  • Lots of Vietnamese didn't seem to mind.

  • and look at how many of them died because of it.

  • Sissy French guns....

  • Would you care to stand in front of one and still think that? Me thinks not....
