  • Well your not supposed to use Wikipedia anyway. Anybody can change the info on it.

  • if you sew this news cast live he also went on to say that his parent company supports the bills... little conflict of interest id say haha

  • BOYCOTT CBS FOR SUPPORTING THIS MONSTROUS ATROCITY

  • Who gives a shit about Wikipedia,?

  • That is so misleading a deceptive. "Websites like wikipedia that link to copyrighted material"

ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING ME?! FUCK YOU NEWS CHANNEL PAYED OFF NOT TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS. TALK ABOUT FUCKING CORRUPTION. FUCKKKK YOUUUU!!

  • I hope those bills will get passed. That would really stir this shit up

  • I'm voting Ron Paul. :D

  • If my fav porn site gets shutted down, I'm voting Ron Paul. :D

  • FUCK NO MORE FREE MUSIC OR PORN!!!

  • @cds417 Boy, you better hurry up and get your porn while you can. LMFAO! I've been spending last week stocking up, video taping every porno I can within the last week. It's like a shopping spree race!

  • @Tonetare hahahaha forrealss

  • Why can't the public decide yay or nay on laws by way of a popular vote, vice congress deciding what laws are good for us? Most of them are in office with one goal in mind: gain more and more wealth.

  • Now they shut down minecraft and wikipedia

  • FUCK SOPA and FUCK PIPA!

    Support the 1st Amendment.

  • No fear! I know chinese.... click.... FUCK!

  • 32 second news coverage, of which they spend 8 seconds talking about SOPA. It would have been less insulting to not talk about it at all.

Fuck you CBS even more !!!

  • THATS IT?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • it's crazy how much i use Wikipedia.

  • Try pressing the "stop" button while the Wikipedia page loads. Usually freezes your desired page, instead of redirecting to the blackout.

  • CBS, you never mentioned the two bills!!!

Another reason why not to rely solely on corporate media news when they withhold the simplest information of the titles of two legislative bills, SOPA and PIPA.

Post-Google, Yahoo, Youtube, Wikipedia era: What bills are they passing? I have no alternative source.

  • SOPA Suck.

  • You can still access it. Just disable javascript.

  • ...we used a portion of this for the 13th Art House Video!!

  • 0:15 ... against two anti piracy bills

They aren't anti piracy bills, they are anti public participation bills.

  • i guess its a start, posted on my fb...hopefully some people will get the message

  • Pppshh... why do I need an ad to extend this video when it was just 30 seconds of a news report?

  • What that hell.. I can't believe I spent my 30 seconds watching coverage from a CBS news report.

  • Are niggers aware of this?

  • the solution to the wiki black out is to press the 'esc' key before the page load

  • "I'll just wait until tomorrow to do my work, i'll use Wikipedia"- my thoughts yesterday.... -______-

  • this is bullshit

  • Say Good Bye to the internet folks

  • They aren't going to close down Wikipedia or Craiglslist. They are going to force websites to sever their links to copyrighted material on demand. If you accept the idea of copyright, this is a reasonable approach because only a comprehensive approach will work. Though, maybe the idea of copyright itself is flawed. But, if they can't milk their copyrights, they won't produce the product.

  • U.S congressmen are loads of morons and greedy bastards!

  • Even craigslist is blackout!! WTF??

  • @Tonetare You know nothing.

  • @Tonetare To any black person out there, I invite you to go to the rants and raves section of craigslist in any city and see the amount of anit-black racist remarks are spewed about our racial group by redneck hillbillies. I invite you to go to the urban dictionary which Google places among its top search results for the "n" for whatever reason and look at the amount of filth spewed about blacks. It's. PLEASE GOVERNMENT CONTINUE WITH UR VALIANT EFFORTS IN CENSORING DESPITE THE REDNECK PROTESTS

  • @Tonetare the internet is full of racist not just black... anti-white, anti-black, anti-asian, anti-arab, anti-semitism and all other anti crap out there... if all this is about race then the effort should be free the world from da internet...

  • @ImperialEarthEmpire That is the biggest crock of bull I have ever heard. When you see a white person doing wrong on the Web, you don't see a sea of anti-white comments in the posting sections. And it's not the case with Asians, Arabs, Semites either. It's only the case with black people. If you'd like proof, just let me know. I can send you countless examples via e-mail of people turning to anti-black racism just because they see a black person doing wrong. U show me this for whites

  • @Tonetare you just proved the racial stereotype...

  • Thank you U.S. government for replying to my repeated letters asking to censor the Web a few years ago. I'm sorry but the amount of anti-black racism spewed over the Net coming from racist members of the white community, and likely other non-black minorities that redneck whites have been able to whitewash, is through the roof. For everytime I see a news story about a person who happens to be black and has done something wrong, there's always a sea of racism. This will nip that crap in the bud!

  • @Tonetare The fact that websites like Stormfront and N*ggermania are up in running is the very reason every black person should support this effort by the U.S. government to censor the Web. Do not listen to the folks encouraging you to go against this plan. They're all likely whites who do not have to deal with seeing ugly racism about them wherever they're race is seen doing something bad over the Web. This is not something they have to experience so therefor they aren't interested in censors

  • @Tonetare Wikipedia never seems to give two shits when a user has been wronged by their system of majority rule they use on that site. Wiki Admins on the website are constantly abusing their power and often times they accumulate a few close friends on the website so as to make their positions stand. Now the tables have turned and their bitching and complaining to abuse of power. What a load of crap. I couldn't care less if I never see that piece of crap site ever again as long as I live

  • @Tonetare And if you don't believe me about the abuse of power that goes on at Wikipedia, I invite you to actually utilize the Website. That means not merely looking at it to find answers to your school work, but going in and creating an account and trying to make a few edits. Give it two weeks to a months before you're drawn into some drama with another trolling user before a couple of admins step in and abuse their power

  • @MegaDeathwarrant ...Not to mention, piracy is not even as big as you may think it is. Piracy actually in a way gets the game/song/video out there even more, by those people telling there friends about it/whatnot (quote from Eminem, a huge rapper, that would know more than enough about media). Again, they cannot stop piracy, its out there, its illegal, putting up new laws against it won't make it any more illegal. A crime is a crime. Feel me?

  • @FOoMan777 like i said people don't know how to handle it properly it can easily be stopped.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant If it can be so easily stopped, tell me how. Im not trying to offend you in anyway, you seem to be very insightful with these wise words on how easily it can be stopped.

  • guys its really simple to stop this. JUST DON'T PIRATE!! There very very simple.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant says the guy on youtube that would also be affected by sopa

  • @hardwirecars yea cause of you morons who keep pirating it's simple you have the power of the internet got look for a fucking job.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant YOUR PIRATING RIGHT NOW DUMB ASS!

  • @hardwirecars oh gees im pirating from an uploader called cbsnewsonline, moron...

  • @MegaDeathwarrant oh sure this is the only video you have ever watched and you made an account just to post on it

    suurree

    dont be a fool

  • @hardwirecars Go do research on what online pirating is first before making yourself look stupid.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant maybe you should go see what sopa is before making yourself look stupid

  • @hardwirecars wow dude are you really retarded or what?

  • @MegaDeathwarrant I love how you have no real rebuttle

piracy is bad sopa is way worse piracy will never and i mean never end it has been proven time and time again and guess what any one that wants to pirate will pirate why dont you go look up a lan ammo box

other then that lets stop this back and forth all that its geting done is starting a fight and we need to fight the real problem not each other.

  • @hardwirecars Piracy can end people just don't know how to handle it properly.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant I believe @hardwirecars thought you uploaded the mercenaries 2 theme song, which according to this bill, would be considered piracy. Yes, you did infact favorite the video, not upload it, so it's fine for you. Anyways, this bill cannot stop piracy. This bill stops people from uploading damn near all of the content on youtube. I agree with hardwirecars, piracy cannot be avoided. Piracy is already illegal, you think those people give a shit about a new law against it? ... cont.

  • @MegaDeathwarrant

and in case i didnt make my point does the mercenary's 2 sound track ring a bell

    guess what thats piracy

  • @MegaDeathwarrant there is now a copy of copyrighted material on your hard drive.. pirate

Ever use a DRV? Are you one of those dirty pirates who records TV with a digital recorder?

If you were to post this video on your page should ALL OF YOUTUBE BE SHUT DOWN?

  • man I miss Wikipedia already! COME BACK! It's like crack cocaine, I'm addicted

  • @corbipen forreals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • i think we should all stop going to the movies stop buying cd's stop watching tv stop everything and show the government who is in charge i can say those greedy people in hollywood is loving it cause they need more money to shove up there asses

  • @3160jimmys I'm already there dude. I stop watchin' tv, movies, and buying CDs over a decade ago, and it ain't becuz of piracy. I hope the anti-piracy bill pass to be honest, so it can prove that hollywood and the music industry are losing profits because of their pass decade of shitty films & music and not because of piracy.

  • @b75s It's not just anti piracy. If that's all it was, there wouldn't be such an issue. This bill puts the power to shut down websites into the hands of the big companies, so they can shut down websites that they just SUSPECT of showing copyrighted material. On top of that, it gives the government the right to shut down websites that show content that is copyrighted even if the sites have the copyright holders permission. It's an oppressive bill that takes away even more freedom than prohibition

  • @xxcl0n3xx Ooooh, that is serious, thanks for breakin' it down for me. Either way, even if the bill pass, their's no possible way the government can really stop piracy unless they shutdown the net entirely, which scares me because it may lead to that final conclusion.

  • @3160jimmys FORREALLLLL DUDEE TELL EMMM MAKE YOUR COMMENT TOP COMMENT!!!!!!!

  • this is some goddamn bullshit and I hope the fucktard who decided to blackout wikipedia spends an eternity burning in hell!

  • Comment removed

  • pirate websites will still be accessed via other methods than ttp addresses and DNS blocking...

As detailed by Lifehacker and Gizmodo.

  • Do you guys talking about artists, copyrights, and Hollywood Internet Censorship actually realise that the Stop Online Piracy Act won't actually stop piracy in the end?

Because while mostly innocent websites and people can be ruthlessly targeted (shutdown) without any preliminaries under new censorship, the really stinking fun pirate websites will still be accessed via

As detailed by Lifehacker and Gother methods than htt addresses and DNS blocking ...

    izmodo.

  • I'm proud to have voted for thus blackout! I made a difference in this historical occasion!

  • Scott Pelley is dumb idiot. He called Iranian president a dictator? He was elected, unfairly but nevertheless

  • damn nda sopa whats next? they buggin

  • Stop the SOPA and PIPA acts!!!!

  • Why is the happening...?

  • Wow! Thirty-fucking seconds of coverage from CBS on primetime about the SOPA and PIPA even when Wikipedia joins the blackout....

  • @armandogro91...yeah I know... good point... and you can see how much influence already the government has on the media.

  • The Government should be afraid of its people. The People shouldn't be afraid of its Government.

  • @Minecrafter1235467 exactly, its a fucked up world we live in. just because theres pirating doesnt give them the right to control the internet.

  • @Minecrafter1235467 No, no one should be afraid of each other. But a person said, the goverment serves the people, not the people serves the government.

  • @Minecrafter1235467 V For Vendetta /glasses

  • Good luck to any procrastinators out there that have a project due on Thursday. :3

  • all im saying is CIVIL WAR 2. coming soon if this gets passed

  • @BurnTheBlackWolf it wont be two factions fighting each other, it will be all out hell.

  • You assholes were one of the groups supporting this shit.

Now that you can't feign ignorance anymore, you have done an about-face on SOPA and PIPA and started covering it.

    Fuck you, media assholes.

    Fuck you hard.

  • They will come in behind SOPA with PIPA as the alternative, it's no better than SOPA so keep an ear to the ground and an eye on the horizon.

  • @67Glasseye Go fuck a dog you donkey licking fascist

  • @67Glasseye You dont understand what sopa would do. The artists do not get hurt. the companies that hire the artists do. And they dont give a shit about the artist. The only reason SOPA is happening, is because the companies brought it to government and the companies have so much influence in government it's not even funny. And the gaming industry will be hurt from SOPA. So will social sites. Places like youtube, google, facebook, twitter can all be effected from this bill.

  • @masterjarred32 i know, but we know by now that congress won't listen. The worst part is, the people deciding this bill, have no idea of the importance or how much we depend on sites.i'ts like having a kid listning to old music, they would think it's the stupidest think ever, because they've never gotten to know it. They just pass it because they think it's a good idea, but really, it's not. I pray to god we still have youtube when it's passed. (I'm 99.99% sure it will be passed)

  • ooooh... so now that a major website is protesting, it's news. But when no one took any action, they just skimmed over it.

  • It's good to see real support for anti-SOPA protests, but a dislike for the Media -- and the Entertainment Industry which seeks to have unlawful rights over the internet.

  • You are not suppose to use wiki for references in your projects anyway!

  • Didn't these bungholes learn anything from history and what censorship leads to? Reminds me of Germany circa 1932. Yes, burn the books.

  • so i watched 26 seconds of Star Treck adverts, for a 32 second clip with no real information. Nice! :\

  • My You tube channel now has gone into its own media blackout.

  • The whole idea is ridiculous. I think the internet is just fine the way it is.

  • RESPECT

  • FIRST!! and about fucking time...
