This is the mayville cardingal singers, not some "Cookie cutter group" when you are watching them you know that you are going to see a good show. And if you dont think that this is a typical opener look at what groups are doing now, this was 4 years ago. Groups are now opening with a down tempo song showing that they have tallent not just flashing lights and costumes, and for all the haters this is what mayville does, when they do something amazing, a year or 2 later groups do the same.
Okay.. STOP WITH ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!! I am a Mayville student, and a STRONG SUPPORTER for the Mayville Cardinal Singers!!! It takes extreme talent to be as good as everyone in this video! I don't know of any school that has more tallent than Mayville. GREAT JOB TO EVERYONE IN THIS VIDEO!!! YOU ALL DID AMAZING!
haha. whoever said very white just proved the point of this song. STUPID!! white black who cares. it's not about skin color or race. in this case it's about talent. and although they did try, and were very well prepared. It needed a bit more soul...not Blackness. just soul. there is in fact a difference.
These kids have the fakest show choir smiles. This wasn't the typical show choir opener, so try having more expression in your face matching the song's content. I love the song, but every time I see these cheesy smiles I want to gouge my eyes out.
@Mchenrjld It takes a lot of someone pissing me off to comment on youtube. So congratz. Mayville is NOT a typical show choir. And we pride ourselves in that. I was in this show, and if you knew anything about show choirs you'd understand every lyric, note, smile, a drop of sweat that is our passion for something we love; making great music.
@BrianRyczek I loved the song and I thought the group was very talented, but I still think that the group was somewhat cheesy and fake. I did both show choir and drama in high school and this was as I said very contrived. Later in the show, the emotion and facial expressions I thought were spot on, but I can't help but be a little irked by those cheesy pointless smiles!
This is a show choir competition. The Singers must but loud, in your face, they are competing. and have you ever stopped to think perhaps the stage was too hot? This performance took place in a high school gym. Not all the acoustics are going to work in your favor in a gym. as for the soloist, I feel he has a great voice with a wide range. Oh and by the way, the writer of this song, James Taylor), was white and does NOT sing this song like a gospel singer. know your music b4 u comment.
this is terrible... they do well on gettin their notes.. thats it. the soloist, the dynamics, style, everything... badbadbadbad. not a bad voice for the soloist, maybe for another song.. not GOSPEL! and when the choir comes in 1:15 BOOOOOOO calm down choir!
i think the soloist is ok. but yes the choir came in way too strong...unless the choral director wanted it like that. I'm doing this for HaZamir and i know for a fact that its supposed to be soft when the choir comes in.
The guy who did the solo has a brilliant voice. Who is he? I'm from manchester (UK) and run a small studio. His voice is prefect. I unfortunatly don't make enough money to fly him to the UK to record some tracks but he is just want i need. I hope he does well in the future. Robin Forsyth
our select choir did an arrangement of this song as well, I thought that the soloist was great, the song is really poppy, and I felt it was too operatic, but that could just be the style of the group.
this song was in mayvilles high schools show choir 2012 very good job high school

i really enjoy this arrangement, but the soloist gets me...he needs to work on his posture a bit more.
I also didn't care for the random "voiceovers" in their show.
