  • This comment is to everyone who loves fast food and hates weight gain. You can eat fast food everyday and lose weight. The answer is atkins. Order all of your burgers and sandwhiches without the buns. Stay away from the fries. And only drink diet soda. Remember this one rule for weight loss, "CARBS ARE THE CULPRIT."

  • @kingofcrazy88 I don't really think that that's going to help to much. While it really depends on the person, but I think that exercise and variety are the best way to go. And a basic rule of thumb for losing weight; hunger = your body burning fat.

  • @0oPerson Well with atkins you don't need to exercise. Before atkins I was doing portion control and exercise and lost on average a pound a week. Then I gained the weight back because I couldn't stand being hungry anymore. With atkins I can eat all the calories I want and not gain weight. Also I eat fast food about 3 times a week because I can eat it do to it's low carb count. Before atkins I was eating 2,500 calories a day. Now I eat 4,000 calories a day with very low carbs and lose 2-3 pounds.

  • @cgiwattgrrl99 Let me clarify and state that the obesity epidemic is caused by a combination of things, not just fast food but lack of activity as well. As far as people doing what they want to do, I don't really care. But I certainly don't like how much medical costs cost per year which many could have been prevented had people taken some care of their body. Everyone doesn't need to be a gladiator but extreme obese people are for the most part reckless when it comes to their diet and lifestyle.

  • I watched Super Size Me... then I went and got the last super sized meal from McDonald's I ever ate... the discontinued their super sized stuff around here shortly thereafter. Now I've not eaten fast food in so long I tried a McDonald's breakfast the other day and was sick all day long. That stuff is rancid, but you only notice if you stop eating it for a while.

    You should never overindulge when eating. The idea is to make the right choices and eat in moderation.

  • @pccchurch I agree with this. I live off of coffee and cigarettes every day, now adding Slimfast for extra calories. I work at Burger King to support myself weekly. I can't afford a lot of stuff at all still, even with a second job in the household. I do NOT eat fast food, though. After getting food poisoning from McDonald's, any fast food makes me ill. Some people like fast food for the convenience in a busy life, and puts food on my table.

  • That documentary is not accurate! I eat McDonalds and did not blow up like the movie maker did in a few months! I gained weight over years! You should be more observant and realistic! Also I am not saying that anyone should run to mcdonalds and eat away because you will get fat over time and lack of excersise but having it once in a while hell even everyother day as long as they are being active, running and working out, and creating a calorie deffecit people will lose weight! :)

  • I moved to US 5years ago and after a while I experience terrible pains and headaches. I gain A bit weight not much though. Quckly I found that my diet was causing it. At home I ate only fresh fruit veggis and meet ( I lived on the farm) and here things changed. Now I eat better only nature made foods and I really got my body back- thanks for informing others.

    Good job you found out your diet was causing your problems early. I used to think I was terminally ill from something like cancer because of how bad I felt, a quick change in diet to low sugar, low fat and more fish and veg and I was back to my normal self.

    Food can truely make you feel terrible if you're doing it wrong for long periods.

  • You make a great point. However, eating McD's three times a day and super sizing it will kill anyone. That is pretty well known. But people can still eat semi-healthy if they skip the fries and regular sodas. That to me is the real killer in fast food joints. Stick with a burger and water and hold the fries and also skip anything deep fried such as the fish and chicken.

You cannot take a vegetarian and force feed him McDonalds and expect good results. He threw up after his second meal.. I would assume an average person would not hurl after one day of McDonalds. I don't see any problem with GMO corn and no harm has been found from eating GMO corn in fact GMO yeast allows ice cream to be made from milk instead of cream reducing fat and increasing calcium. I do have a problem with the corn lobby and sugar tariff only because these increase the price of food and are forcing confectioners abroad.

  • Hmmm...I don't really remember the part about the cafeteria food. But I remember when his girlfriend was freaking out and said he'd have to quit the experiment if his "eyes start[ed] turning yellow". And when he puked after eating a supersize fry (in Texas i believe it was). somehow that movie didn't really gross me out enough to stop eating at Mickey D's, but i never ate there that often before anyway. I've maybe gone from eating there twice a month to once every other month.

  • @Knoss still, a weight loss secret that i go by is to not get your calories from drinks. they don't give you nearly enough energy, so they are useless calories. everyone should learn how to use calories more wisely

I suspect that the way our bodies handle what we eat is way more complicated than we understand now, and are likely to understand any time soon. We have a long tradition of assuming we know everything about nutrition, and then wondering why, for instance, in the 19th cen. babies who were fed formula were sickly (hint: we didn't know about vitamins yet). I'm conservative by nature, so I'd prefer not to eat things I didn't evolve to eat.

    im in the same boat. i cut down trees for a living, im hungry every 2-3 hours. im 30 yrs old, 5'10 and weigh 150... used to be 135... before i was out of shape and hardly ate but i was skinny like you... now im getting bulky and i can hardly afford the food i eat and even worse... im famished all day. food makes me hungrier... i get cranky when i dont eat so ... what todo? i eat steaks , potatoes, healthy food, fast food. i just pack in anything i can get my hands on. =/ soo hungry

  • This may or may not be applicable to you specifically, but the Univ of California's video called: Sugar: The Bitter Truth might help. It's 90 minutes long, but it explains why people can lower their fat intake and still gain weight.

  • I cook the best potato chips in coconut oil. I cut the potatos really thin, don't peel them and cook them until they are crispy and then put vegie salt on them, so much better then fries!

    "You would have to walk 7 straight hours to burn off a meal from McDs". The largest meal you can get at McDs is about 1500 calories, well the average person takes in about 2000 calories a DAY. So this tells us that you would need to walk for about 10 hours straight to burn off all the food the average person eats.

  • I enjoyed watching the documentary but i do believe it has its flaws. What many people fail to realize is that many sit-down restaurants actually have way more calories than fast food, because the portions are larger and not necessarily healthy.
