Never realized Eddie could sing, but he was obviously very interested in Music. I was just reading where he had some of Woody Guthrie Guitars in his Estate when he passed away, must have led an interesting life.
@TheGuitarPat Half a century ago Eddie Albert was starting an acting career in Hollywood. Eddie and his wife let the Guthrie family stay at his house for a few weeks. Woody gave him a guitar in gratitude and a friendship began. Years later when Dylan first got to New York one of the first persons he looked up was Woody who was in the Hospital with Hodkins Disease. So it makes sense that Eddie would record a Dylan song as they both had Woody Guthrie in common. + Its a great song,
Heavens to Sam Drucker! Hearing this today for the first time REALLY made my day! I had no idea the late great Eddie Albert had once recorded an album. Not only was he a gifted actor, but a pretty good singer too! THANKS for posting this delightful "blast from the past"! You've MADE my day & my week! :-)
He is on British T.V. right now playing a murderer in a brilliant Columbo episode. My and I love Roman Holiday where he was the best friend. Great actor.
Thanks for posting this. I fondly remember Green Acres from my childhood but I had no idea Eddie could sing. This is just great! I've really enjoyed researching him on the net - the world sure did lose a good man when he passed away.
Eddie Albert - all I knew was Green Acres and Switch. He was so much more. I heard about him saving a group of Marines in WWII. His films, His Singing, One wife all his long life. A son who stayed with him till the end. Some life!
I'm that one person? That is very cool. I have that song on my mp3 player. He was a great activist and kind person by all accounts. There's a quote on IMDB or somewhere where he says something like "I used to think I was a singer, but I was wrong." I think he was right.
Have you heard the 1949 B'way cast recording of Irving Berlin's "Miss Liberty"? The songs are pretty mediocre, but Eddie sings his beautifully. I should put one of those up next.
It would have sounded better except Mr. Haney sold him the recording equipment!
