Lying is only allowed when ones life is threatened. Some other groups extend it to when one needs to solve a dilemma between friends or family. Other than that, there are no other allowances.
In fact, all scholars say that you CANNOT lie when it comes to advancing the religion. If the religion is to be advanced, you have to tell the truth. It's not optional.

To be honest, I dont think anyone inclined to lie is going to make it dependent on whether it is or isn't explicitly condemned in their holy book or not. After all humans are masters at BSing themselves, so theyll find a reaosn satisfactory for their conscience on why it was justified, no matter their religion.

good video :). part of the misconception has to do with the shia sect (and what an evil sect it is). they practice taqiyyah in both major and minor issues. they believe they are rewarded for practicing taqiyyah, and so they do this all the time (and not in extreme circumstances where a Muslim's life is in danger). don't worry too much about the anti-muslim mushrikeen...rather, fellow Muslims need dawah with regards to all the afflictions and divisions and misguidance within our Ummah.

All peace and respect to you. I am however an atheist. I guess my problem with Islam is that it is a continuation of the Abrahamic God. I have never read the Koran so I don't know very much about it. I was raised Roman Catholic, started to ask questions about my faith in the last 20 years or so. With all the problems I found in the bible, and the God of Abraham, I just don't see Allah as an improvement on a non-existing god. Any comment? Peace and <3 the camels.
