Me and my little 10 year old friends would decide which one was cuter and which we'd let be our boyfriend based on nothing more than hearing their voices.. It was the magic of youth in the non video age.
I remember my cousins and I all lined up with hair brushes in our hands all wanting to sing our parts and fighting over whos turn it was to be CANCER and my name is charles. Brings A smile to my face just thinking about it!
This song reminds me of growing up in Newark,NJ and how me and my homeboys used to perform this in the hallways of those older blgs with great acustics. Most of my homeboys are dead and gone now but i will never forget that joy we had when we learned how to harmonize to this. We used to love to impress the girls with our vocal abilities. We would love to hear when we went to school others brothas from different blocks doing the samething. It was just pure fun and i miss those brothas so much.
Anybody outta Bay View Hunters Point (SF) remember the redlight parties on Underwood?! It was an Underwood in Ury Hood.............complete without pistols!
I can remember as a kid when my parents would stack about 15 forty-fives on the record player and play those same songs all day long! This was always the first song....COME WITH ME BABY TO LOVE LAND!!!
This is a great song from when I was a girl. My mom would put us to bed and put this on with her other songs to relax. i fell asleep listening to it and dreaming of the day I'd have a great romance!! Thank you Troy.
This song takes me back to my Army days stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. I met this nice young lady at the time and we used to really make out to this song...only problem is she was married, so we just had to "Float on."
Amen to that! This IS real music. Stuff like Lady Gaga, The Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears, and especially, Miley IS crap. Most of THOSE "singers" really can NOT sing, and must have their voices digitally enhanced. The men is THIS group truly COULD sing, and had real talent. You can't beat '70's soul, some of the BEST music ever!
Boy do I remember this song! I was a kid in grade school. My big brother and his friends had parties in the basement. I remember "afro centric zodiac posters" w/the velvet on em and the black lighting to make the neon color on the posters stand out...They would be down there "makin out" with the girls, and I and the other little kids would be bothering them and turning on and off the lights, just putting a dent in there good time LOL!
(sigh) Memories...nothing like em, definitely a simpler time
LOVE THIS SONG!! It brings me back to the time when I was in junior high school and I use to hear this song a lot. I really wish music was still like this today. I love the Floaters, the Spinners, Blue Magic, the Stylistics, Bloodstone, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Ohio Players, etc, etc. They're the best when it comes to old school. Thanks!
I remember this great song from my childhood. I grew up in a mainly Italian neighborhood in N.Y. & we got into romance. I remember sitting on the beach, looking off into the water, hearing this coming from someone's radio. The mood was perfect- the sun was setting, the waves moved in mellow time with the harmony & the lyrics had me thinking of way off lands of wonderful women & great relationships. I sat there & watched people going by, getting into the song. It'll always make me remember that.
Love it!!!
