  • So beautiful. Miss Mary Chapin Carpenter's songs are so beautiful and Mary are interpreting them so nice! I love 'em both.

  • A beautiful cover of one of my favorite Mary Chapin Carpenter songs. Both of the "Marys" have pretty voices.

  • next to nanci griffith she is my favorite female singer!!

  • The best female folk voice ever to come out of Ireland.

  • La canta mejor que la propia autora. Tipica cancion country de Mary Chapin.

  • @MultiKs22 Somebody may have answered your question already , but just in case no one else did the lyric in this song is "blind mans curve" which refers to a roadway curve where you can't see what is on the other side of the curve. Hope this helps ....Cheers...

  • I am proudly Mexican, but I guess I must have been Irish in a past life, because I have kept a strange devotion for Irish music over more than twenty-five years now. Anyway, I've been reading about the recent financial mess that is happening in Ireland now, and although I know that means times of hardship are on their way, I really hope the Irish people leaves trouble behind as soon as possible.

  • @Jorgeller thank for likeing our music here in Ireland.as we love mexcian jewellery here in Ireland. about the country being in a mess . blame our politicians for all the money the taxpayers the money the have wasted with their lifestyles and the banks if the poor ordinary people like us has suffer for their mistakes.the are a crowd of wasters.

  • I heard Mary Black for the first time many years ago, when I bought a CD of female Celtic singers that the Putumayo label released on this other side of the ocean. I have wept many a tear with Mary's songs.

  • It doesn't get much better than Mary Black singing a Mary Chapin-Carpenter song!

  • I love Mary Black !

  • I wish it was 1992 again, I relyed upon my hand back then, now I have kids

  • Isaw them [the two Marys] do it together in Dublin long time ago but it still stays thatnking you for the post

  • L O V E L Y ....

  • Thanks for posting

  • I do like this version, but being the Chapin head I am, I think no one beats Mary Chapin Carpenter's version.

  • Beautiful

  • We love you Mary .... your voice, your spirit ... the calling down of the moon.

We lost our mom, and your voice saw I through.

All the spirit to yah! Our mom would give you a big hug! Keep strong.

  • saw her once in oxford , beautiful

  • ceeerrl ur 100% right shes amazing she sould be a million times more famous than she is shes just incredible, shes so down to earth,.. but i think ireland we wanted her for ourselves because she was and is so amazin,... id love to have grown up back then real music real people and ireland was at its best with music!!!xX

  • Very beautiful.

    thank you

  • amazing voice, amazing woman. Should be a million times bigger than she is, but i love her even more for being so humble for such a huge talent!

  • Relgious references are usually cultural and literary...rarely do they actually refer to religion. They are a result of centuries of cultural indoctrination. Even atheists use so called 'religious' references. They are literary. Maybe she is religious but a religious reference alone doesn't confirm it.

  • Mary Black is Catholic.

  • There are many religious references in the song. Altho' Mary Black did not write it her background in Catholic Dublin would make her comfortable with all that. Its also a song about feminism, freedom, flight, and the price we must be willing to pay for freedom and flight. That first generation of women who broke the mould and the rules had no guide. Just rely upon the moon and St Cristopher (Ancient, feminine, pagan moon and masculine Christian saint). Nice voice too, Mary.

  • Is there a reference to 1 Corinthians, 13: "When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things"?

    And this

Accounts for where you want to go,

And what you are running from

-seems like a reference to Alice in Wonderland, doesn't it? "One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response."

  • I can cry right now! I always listened to this song with my mum at home but now it's all in the past...I really wish I could go back there again someday...I was actually a little girl when the album was first released.

  • I had only previously heard Mary Chapin Carpenter sing this song but this is a beautiful and emotional rendition. This is a truly amazing version

  • I do think so too Pauline.

But I like Mary Chapin Carpenter's singing too.

At the most "Passionate kisses" (live version)
