  • lars has some pretty simplistic drum playing. nick menza from megadeth is so much better

  • @SanSalvador15 If megadeth is so much better go listen to them im not saying is good because i like them too but i dont you have to on this vid and talk crap

  • \m/

  • I want that beanie...

  • YEAAAHHH LAAARRRSSS!!!!!

  • funny to play the guitar over it. I'd been playing this song for years but now I find it different to play it over the drum track: you have to be precise to keep a perfect cadency, you have to be like dancing with it.

  • @JonMan1994 sounds exactly the same to me with the exception of some slight ring which would be buried on the original anyway once the other instruments are in. The toms are spot on.

  • How did you solo the track?

Or did you just simply record yourself to the song?

  • @Lodashtaroth Guitar Hero track, Metallica gave them seperated tracks I guess

  • @Mordownick

these tracks(other than the vocals}were recorded by session musician's.Because of stuff like this,if they gave the real masters out then bored zit faced teens can mix their own versions of songs

  • @mattallica464 You mean that James didn't record guitar tracks in "One" or I missed something?

  • @mattallica464 You mean that James didn't record guitar tracks in One or I missed something?

  • @mattallica464 no, and who cares if people remix songs, its a learning process for future audio engineers

  • fuckin awesome thnx

  • Nothing sounds better than the sound of drum triggers :)

  • @syafiqare i dont think lars used triggers :)

  • @mankepierdasss No fucking way. I'd be VERY suprised if he did.

  • @syafiqare

did triggers exist at this point in time?

  • anyone eles doing guitar in there head?

  • @MolesMalone I was humming the whole way until the solo.

  • LARS FUCKIN' "UM"RICH

  • I got those sticks =)

  • Fantastic i love lars

  • this alone got me headbanging!

  • something's wrong with this track

  • @Pmsolodkin how?

  • @ragnaroksama its not the same as on the original recording

  • @Pmsolodkin how can u tell? cant u consider the possiblity that red octane did something with who recorded this and got ahold of the files and put on guitar hero so whenever u miss only wat ur playing...stops playing, and maybe that this guy used sound card recording thingy and recorded this while everything else was off like i do when i want A7x drum tracks :P?

  • @ragnaroksama i dnt play guitar hero. i listen to metallica to damn much so i can tell if its kosher or not. btw what u said made no sense

  • The snare makes my desk shake! aweesome!

  • I need new pants :/

  • well I've just realized this is not the original drum track but I've heard some drum tracks that actually are the originals... i need to do that someone please tell me

  • This wasn't very technical when it came out, and it's even less so nowadays. People give Lars too much credit in that regard. But it sounds massive, angry and dynamic. Lars used to deliver performances with power in the classic Metallica days, that's what he lost.

  • @antonio610

I hate spoiled death metal kiddies who think only fast constant doulbe bass drum patterns are worth a damn. A reminder, this song won the first for metallica and that for good reason. The drums play a perfect role in this song and are very creative.

  • @Basketalbi I'd think mainstream metalcore is particularly guilty of that nowadays. The Rev is a good example.

  • @antonio610 - Indeed. I too have fallen victim of metalcore, but still, no better genre than that IMO.

  • 5.29 Fast :D

  • @phenom371 kjakjakjaka se noto que no entendiste el sarcasmo

  • i have those drumsticks! :D

  • Lars with facial hair ;D

  • Just been sitting here reading a few comments and laughing my ass off. Lars not able to play the double bass for One anymore because of age???? Come on now people. It's his music. Artists can play their music any way they want to play it and try something different to see how it sounds or maybe he was trying out a new peddle. But please don't talk about age because i have an 80 year old great uncle who can play One on the drums. lol.... Lars is a very talented drummer and a great entertainer.

  • So Great!!!

  • for some reason i cant stop hearing the bass in my head while listen to this

  • Deleted comments. Im not in the mood to discuss with closeminded children who cant seem to accept the obvious bye.

  • 3:26

  • Justice for all was the only album where Lars was fairly ''impressive''.

but people who think he's the best obliviously have their heads up their asses.

Same goes for all those typical folks who think Joey Jordison is the best.

  • @Guyverhoeven I think he's the best not technically but for his stamina (fucking 3-4 hour shows with shit loads of playing in the '80s) and his ability to create the drum beats for Metallica. Yeah, not always the hardest beats to imitate, but they go perfectly. And what do you mean fairly "impressive?" If you listen to Ride the Lightning and Kill 'em All songs live, he's a fucking monster (in a good way). Albums aren't always the best way to judge a drummer. Look at him in his prime.

  • @Guyverhoeven He's one of the best Metal drummers ever, at least I think. I mean, obviously Lombardo is better technically, and same with Joey Jordison, but what Lars has helped to create in magnificent.

  • Comment removed

  • @Guyverhoeven That's interesting; you make a claim and refuse to back it up. As I said, to each their own. However, nothing I said can be reproved, for it's all a matter of opinion. I think he's badass, you don't agree. Think whatever tickles your fancy, but he at least deserves respect for helping found the arguably the best metal band ever and for accomplishing what he has accomplished.

  • Comment removed

  • @Guyverhoeven Once again, you make a claim and fail to back it up. Overhyped? No, many bands, such as Slipknot and Lamb of God are overhyped. Not talentless, for being overhyped has nothing to do with talent level or music quality. It has to do with what people make them out to be. Metallica is made out to be simply fantastic, and while I'll admit they had some shoddy years from what, the black album until reload? They are still great. Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets,

  • @somekidfromaplace And Justice for All, and maybe even the black album, and Death Magnetic have all been great albums. Even St. Anger doesn't suck too bad, just the absence of solos is a bummer. +The recording sucked diiiiiiiiiiick. Anyway, the even more impressive part of Metallica is/was their ability to perform live. Have you listened to Seattle '89? Or Mexico '93? It's amazing man. The drum fills, double bass additions, solos, vocals, bass; they're all beautiful. Overhyped? No. Get over it.

  • Comment removed

  • @Guyverhoeven Metallica is in fact not over hyped. your argument states that he cant do the double bass in one correctly anymore. there is the thing called AGE. how old were they when they did the seattle 89 concert. Metallica was in its prime then. that was like 21 years ago. metallica and everyone in it has grown older by 21 years.... Lars would have to stop aging to have the same skill he did then. Your argument holds no fact and is based on your sole opinion that it has no facts at all.

  • Comment removed

  • @Guyverhoeven and i should care who those ppl are why? yes Lars isnt as good as he used to be. and from a opinion standpoint everyone will say that the drummer of their favorite band is the best drummer. i am not a fan of new metallica im a fan of when they were in the prime of the bands existence. Ex. Seattle '89

  • @NissanSkyline666 Go see 'em fuckers live now.Did last year on the Sonisphere in Sofia. They kicked fuckin ass more than 2 and a half hours of playing!

Gotta tell you when you catch that pick a week later you are still walking around with that BIG smile on your face and it's impossible to get it off your. There isn't a better feeling in the world!

  • @Guyverhoeven Dave Lombardo can still do Angel of Death and he's in his 40's as well.

  • LARS IS A JOKE LMFAO...........HAHAHHAHAHAHAH A TENNIS PLAYER DIED A DRUMMER WAS BORN

  • E X E L E N T : c o n g r a t u l a t i o n s

  • Metallica wrote WAAAAAYYYYY better songs than Rush. Geddy Lee's whack-ass voice ruined it for Rush. That and 10 % of their songs were actually good. Great technically, for sure. But come on. I can only name about 5 or 6 Rush songs because they are BORING. Watched the Rush in Rio DVD. BOR-ING! Being good enough technically and great at making songs is what matters, sorry....

  • @thislifeimn here is what I think: Metallica is NO DOUBT better than Rush. But if we're talking about drummers alone then Neil is 100% better. Now, if we were talking about Lars from the 80's Lars would destroy Neil.

  • @Megadethfan889999 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I fucking defend lars and metallica with my life from any hate spreading douchebags who call themselves "real" metalheads but your fucking insane if you think lars has the same spirit for adding musical drumming to a song. Neil changed the way people play drums or even look at rhythm instruments in general

  • @espChris93 that is true indeed but that is just my personal preference. I just loved the way he used to play and how he incorporated double bass and so many different rhythms with his drum tracks. My bad, i'll say this. I know Neil is better but I just like Lars more.

  • @Megadethfan889999 That's fair I apologize if I came off as an ass too.

  • i love the end!!! *crash* crash* china* *crash *crash* *china * crash* *china* haha love it !!! SNARE!!

  • @NathanXPablo you suck

  • It feels like the drums got sound replaced.

  • there are less snare fills then there should be

  • 3:28 <3

  • Funny how you see a lot of people thinking Lars is crap... Look at where he is, now look at yourself. Point made.

  • @Jacopsman Then again, I'm not nearly as much of an idiot as Fred Durst (and frankly a far better vocalist) and here I am, not being successful. You and I both know skill/talent and success have no real correlation.

  • Say what you want about Justice's production, at least these bass drums don't sound like shit.

  • ufffff the bes solo 3:25

  • 3:39....i love that beat.... its simple, but fuckin badass \m/........lars isnt the greatest drummer in the world, but there is NO better drummer for metallica

  • Lars is not as good as people have painted him...actually, if you hear him live, he´s not even able to perform the sixth notes with his double bass drum as you can hear on the original track, in fact, he never perform his tabs as same as in the records, he makes so many different breaks that you can even feel he´s improving them while recording, cause he can never do them live the same. In my opinion, a good drummer is based on good groves, rather than one who can only play with his heart

  • @batera84 actually he does, if you've ever been to a concert. I know he's not the most technical drummer, but doing the sextuple is easy for any drummer, especially for lars who made the beat and has been playing it for 22 years...

  • @chestus12 hey dude, how´s it going?... you´ve got to hear his last concert, the one of the death magnetic tour, cause i have the real audio of it...it was recorded by the sound mixer and put onto mp3 audio...it has a really cool quality, kirk is a kick ass guitar player, and what can i say about hetfield...he´s awesome, but lars didn´t get even quite close to perform those sextuple notes, i swear, you gotta hear it too

  • @batera84 see the thing is when they mix the audio from live recordings, the bass drums are always mixed poorly. It's been this way for a while now. Another thing, they actually play the 2nd part of the song faster now than in the 80's and when he does the sextuple, he doesn't put much power into it but goes for speed. When you hear the recording, it sounds all messed up because the recorder muddles the beats together. When you hear it live, the sound is a lot cleaner.

  • @batera84 I will say though that Lars has gotten lazy nowadays and doesn't play fills the way he did in the 80's and even skips double bass in some songs. My point is just that he still does it cleanly for the song one.

  • @chestus12 i agree, when you hear it live is way much better, because of the cleaner the audio is, that´s right, but the way they mix the sound is no excuse to hear more or less beats, and the breaks are all changed from the original version...download it and judge it yourself: type on google "metallica concierto en costa rica audio" and choose the first link that appear on taringa, you´ll find a megaupload link

  • @batera84 it sounds like he's playing it really fast instead of giving the beats good intervals, so yea maybe it's a little sloppy. Regardless, they play one way faster now than they did in the 80's, so the double bass part is going to be faster anyways. But yea, I guess he could do it cleaner.

  • 3:27 best part!

  • my fav metallica drum track fuck you lars haters

  • The bass drum sounds weird a lone...

  • @lionslicer9999 alone is one word. and no it doesn't shitnuts

  • @aaronJORDON its called pressing space on accident.... and in my opinion it sounds weird, if you have a problem with it, jerk off to a picture of Lars

  • @lionslicer9999 I WILL! hahahaaha

  • killswitchmanforlife is uplouding a metallica video question mark?

  • i have those sticks!!!

  • I don't get why the drums have so good sound in one but not in blackened no offence the drum sound in blackened is also good but in one omg!!!

  • I have those sticks :D

  • !!! i love the drum track for this song!! especially when it gets to double bass! oh, and i might be getting ahead drumsticks for my bday tomorrow!! along with a brand new drumset :PP i cant wait

  • @DaFeasher did u get the new drums?

  • I think they created the first break-down where the whole band has the exact same rithm.

  • 3:27 part you were looking for...

  • lars ulrich esl mejor baterista del mundo lars ulrich the besth drumer of the word

  • Not even remotely close to being the best drummer in the world.

  • @tylerfaro

Not even remotely close to a relevant comment. Please, who the fuck cares that Lars isn't close to being the best drummer in the world?

He's very good in that he really knows how to use his drumset to serve the music. In that perspective, he's actually better than a lot of drummers.

For the rest, his stuff on AJfA was good on technical lever, original and a bit inventive, contrary to the drummers who only play standard beats and spam double bass... Which happens too often in thrash.

  • @laaarsromero si , y portnoy , lombardo ,etc son los peores ;)

  • This track doesn't have that clicking noise on the bass drums. I think Lars originally used half dollars on the heads. Not for certain on that though.

  • well i can her the click, ive had lodes off debates whethere he used to use trigger.but his drums allways sound great:)

  • @jameswilliamstafford

did triggers exist at this point in time?

  • @H1GhVoL7aGe I "think" they did, at least in the studio they had something like triggers for recording....especially for sporadic drumbeats. If I run across a better answer....I'll let you know. I also could have sworn that Newsted was playing a 5string bass in this video....nut sure? In Morbid Angel vid "God of emptiness" the guitar player is playing a 7 string guitar...this is back around 1994?

  • @87mmo how does the bass drum not click?

  • LARS IS THE BEST DRUMMER EVER

  • @mankepierdasss tu shay

  • @mankepierdasss no the best drummers are Dave Lombardo, George Kollias, Aquiles Priester, Mike Portnoy, Nicko Mcbrian and Romain Goulon but lars plays awesome!

  • @CarcassMGL

    You forgot Inferno

  • @CarcassMGL not bringing up derek roddy in that list is being blasphemic!

  • @mankepierdasss YEAH! FUCKERS! HE IS THE BOSS

  • @mankepierdasss Nicko McBrain is the best drumer ever
