  • @1984manatte Thank you! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

  • I'm curious about the whole ingredients that you put inside of the bird. Are you using those just for turkey flavoring or do they get used in other components as well? And if so, how do you use them.

    Thanks and have a happy!

  • "I asked my seven-year-old son Aedan if there was a gentle way to harm someone, and he laughed at me, as if surprised to be asked such a silly question. When you think about it, the notion of harming anyone in a "humane" way is ridiculous, and just as impossible as it sounds. There is no polite way to harm someone else, no gentle way to inflict pain, and absolutely no way to "humanely" take someone's life." (This includes the turkey. Continued...)

  • (...continued) ...What has already taken me many words to articulate, my seven year old son Aedan summed up in three words: "It is wrong." I think we all know deep within our hearts that it is wrong, but we have all been taught to perceive that wrong as something acceptable or necessary, so we somehow justify our involvement or endorsement of it." -Cayce Mell

  • "It makes no difference to the turkeys whether their dead bodies are roasted whole or processed into paste, even less than it matters to me whether my corpse will be buried or cremated. Respect for the corpse is a very poor substitute for respect for the being. Both I and the turkeys would rather live out our natural lives -- nothing that fails to respect that, regardless of how we might be killed or what happens to the corpse afterward, is humane." -Tom Swiss

  • VITAL TIP:

Cook the turkey breast-side down for moist meat. I cannot stress enough how amazing it turns out. It's constantly cooking right against the juices so it is like that mouth-watering buttery taste we try and aspire for.

  • Shes voice reminds me to Scarlet O Hara, anyway, thank a lot for recipe. :)

  • Does adding veggies in the cavity make the turkey taste better?

  • you dont need to coat the bottom of the turkey with butter?

  • @larizg I don't coat the bottom, but sometimes I'll rub a little butter on top of the foil so that it doesn't stick :)

  • 5:13. im not trusting my turkey.. im tying its legs, aint having that bird doing a runner on me...

  • Well where I come from, nothing is wasted. I guess you guys are a rich country. You are just learning to recycle, something we have been doing for 100 years. But that turkey looks delicious.

  • she reminds me of a school teacher

  • Thanks for the tips, I would've liked to have seen more of the host talking with the ingredients. xoxo

  • @pivotmasterxo1 Check your packaging for cooking time. It all depends on the weight of your turkey.

  • LEILA!!!! LEILA!!!!!! i ♥ dat sawng

  • Thank God...an you... my mom went 2 work and i'm cooing...had no idea how 2 cook one, lol jajajaj i'm 16 and don't usally cook jajaja I have 3 turkeys 2 be done... need my sis!!!! HELP!!! jajaja THAKS X POSTING...

  • @fuegoviento151 jajaja? wtf is that??

  • The reason you have to let it set for 20-30 minutes is to get the juices flowing and it makes it moist. Plus it will be much easier to carve after it has set awhile. :)

If you carve a turkey right after it comes out of the oven, it will dry out quickly. That's why you have to let it rest awhile to get the juices flowing and it will be moist. :)

  • Don't toss unwanted pieces in the Trash ! ! ! Lay them on the grass in your front or back yard and next morning -Presto ! All gone. Raccoons and night marauders will thank you.

Same thing with bones from your plate -don't give to the land fill -- hungry creatures want your leavings !

  • @durgaaa ok - that is a bit gross - I doubt my neighbors would appreciate that. But you are absolutley right. - I need to do something other than just toss these in the trash. There are hundreds of starving creatures and humans out there. I do need to change some of these habits and not be so wasteful. :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy -Gross ? Neighbors ? Your neighbors have no need to know! You put the parts out at night and the creatures take them away without a trace. You really need to get back in touch with the natural world out there. It's ...Natural !

  • @durgaaa Yeah, a friend of mine used to feed the local coons. He thought that he was being enviro-friendly. Until the night he was taking care of some new born kittens for his girlfriend. The coons came and ripped a hole in his screen, dragged away the kittens and ate them. After that he shot the coons instead of feeding them.

  • @mugwump666 -- guess what! Some of the creatures who take the night leavings are cats ! And if you think you are going to rid the world of coons by shooting every one you see then you are kidding yourself. The facts are that there are FAR too many domestic and feral cats running around and the world needs to be rid of more of THEM! Lesson learned ? When caring for small cats indoors in a wilderness setting, DON'T leave your windows open. I had to keep my eye out for hawks when I raised chicks.

  • @durgaaa Wilderness setting? Are you kidding? Coons are all over suburbia.

Don't leave your windows open? So, of course, as a responsible person you went and warned all your NEIGHBORS, right? "I'm going to scatter garbage on my lawn to attract disease carrying vermin and scavengers. They will probably head to your house next, so close all your windows, tonight and for the rest of your life. Oh, do you have a newborn baby? Better lock them in a closet."

Life is not a Disney movie.

  • @durgaaa actually it is better not to leave food out for wild animals because then they will rely on people for food to much and they wont be acting the way nature intended

  • @durgaaa do not feed wild animals. The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) cautions everyone that feeding wildlife, whether directly or indirectly, is never a good idea. Problems from wildlife often increase with the availability of food, and feeding could result in an attack, damaged property, and often the death of the animal.

  • i love your texan accent..

  • How much of poultry seasoning, sait , & pepper did you add to the two sticks of butter?

  • @rey720956 I usually never measure, but I had to do my turkey tonight b/c we're going up to grammy's in the morning and then coming here later to eat so I measured. I used the 2 stick of salted cabot butter, 1 tbsp of poultry seasoning and this time 1 tsp of garlic salt and just a little ground pepper. I think the garlic salt will give it a little xtra umph; but you can just use about 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of regular salt instead :)

  • thanks for the tips , i plan on using them tomorrow .

  • I usually wash mine with lemons then rinse it. but watching this video helped alot thanks for all the great tips.

  • great Video!! it will be my first turkey as well... wish me Luck!

  • Back in the old days on the Indian Reservation. We just dig a hole in the ground. Wrap the turkey up with foil, place in pan. And start a fire on top of it. The firewood is Pinon, Pine, and Brush Oak. The ashes from the fire wood cooks the turkey, slow. It is a good turkey.

  • Thank you for such a great video!

This is going to be my first time cooking a turkey, and i love how you showed us EVERYTHING, and gave us clear verbal instruction as well.

I will definitely be checking out your other cooking videos.

  • i loved this. it was so helpful!

  • I give the neck to my cat. Thats his thanksgiving treat. HE LOVES IT!

  • This is how a cooking video should be done. She actually show the preparation and detail viewing of what she's doing while talking.

I've seen a video of women cooking, but they don't show them cooking, they show their body from head to toe and their surround space 24/7.

I'm only writing that the person in question and her viewers would see this comment to understand the example show in this video is a basic example of how you make a cooking video.

People want to see the cooking, not you.

  • Thanx so much you for the video you are concise and make it look fun and you are prettier then anyone on the food networki

  • thank you!! :) i recently moved out on my own and this is my first turkey cooking experience

  • Thanks for instructing! I also found it works well if you cook the turkey breastside down so it cooks in its own juices. :)

  • thank u so much for this wonderful video. u skipped no steps and made evry detail as clear as day.

  • Thanks for such a strait forward video!
