  • @MsBoon88 ok so think about this. your driving on your nicely paved road to your house which the foundation is poured with concrete. if it wasnt for a quarry mining the rock none of it would be possible. and this 7-11 million litres of water per day is bullshit because the canadian goverment has a restriction on how much water you can pull from the earth. ALSO ive been to the site of this mega quarry. its nothing but empty fields. i hate when people protest without looking at the whole picture

  • In response to an invitation to a film festival I was compelled to find a new audio track for this video or "short documentary" available now . I would like to thank Austra for the use of the track "Lose It" and hope everyone can enjoy this new edit, especially those who found the music in my first version "abrasive".

    Thanks Dyson

  • There should be a petition against this atrocity available soon - And I hope everyone who cares about this irreversible assault on wildlife and our environment takes a moment to find, sign and share it.. !!

  • For years now the US and Canada have had a softwood lumber war going on in the courts. I say let the Americans use up all of their natural resources before going after ours and then complaining!

  • @babyblugu I fucking agree they fucked up there land so they have NO FUCKING RIGHT TO FUCKING FUCK UP OURS I HATE THE USA/ AND FOR BARAK OBAMA FOR FUCKING AGREEING TO MAKE THIS DAMN THING... JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE THAT R FUCKED IN THE FUCKING HEAD THESE DAYS LOL XDDD

  • @Fuzzy1924

"I fucking agree they fucked up there land"

America isnt actually much worse than we are. Its not like you cross the border and it all of a sudden becomes nasty/nice.

"NO FUCKING RIGHT TO FUCKING FUCK UP OURS"

Let me ask you a question, is it okay for a canadian company to go down to the states and open a mine? Only an idiot would turn away a company because they are american. You should turn down this project because its in such an important watershed.

  • I hope the right people see how wrong this is.

This will not create jobs for the local population as some people think. Nobody who lives in the area has mining experience.

The land will never be returned to farm-able quality as claimed. It will still be a quarry when our children get old.

Someone should send those investors back to Boston with their tails between their legs.

  • IN comparison, this is THE biggie. The windmills are really small potatoes in comparison.

What would be more effective eventually would be a documentary similar to what alJazeera did on the oilsands. Hopefully that won't be necessary. There is no will in Ontario for this, and they can't sneak it by us any more.

  • KEEP IT PRIME! DON'T MINE THE LIME!

  • Thank you for this fantastic information. May I respectfully suggest that your video will get more viewers with a quieter track – or no track at all.

  • guess we aught to go to ndact.com and stop the quarry eh?

  • @enbdavies yes NDACT.com has a newly minted website and lots of information i believe the links under more info are still active. The ministry of the environment has now stated the the Highland Companies will have to undergo an environmental assessment. One step in the right direction but its not the end of the battle.

  • This is frightening...

  • I wasn't aware of this and appreciate the work people have completed to put together this informative video. I also agree with one of the other comments concerning the music. It is not only distractive, I believe it takes away from this serious message. Would you be able to change the music to make the focus be on the message? I almost turned it off early into the video. Thanks again.

  • It is best seen on mute - the audio with it is very distracting.

  • This is a great video, will re post it like crazy!

  • I fucking hate the States!! THEY fucked up their country now they wanna fuck up ours??? and get money for it!!! how the FUCK does that make any sense? that were just like...ok yea , blow some shit up, I dont care ...

    FUCK THAT!!

  • YEAH AND FRIGGING BILL GATES HAS BOUGHT THE CONTROLLING INTEREST IN THE CANADIAN NATIONAL PACIFIC RAILWAY TOO!

  • @OnlyBoo1 Many Canadian railway companies own US Railways.

  • It will come down to simple War. As for myself, I would be an assasin for this cause, no problem. Just start killing the pricks. The News will soon look into it.

I AM willing to die to preserve these things for my Grandkids !!!

  • I find this is hard to believe. How has it been possible for this story to be so under the radar? Why is this not a front page story in Toronto papers? If this story is true, we need to do everything in our power to stop it.

  • This video is extremely well done. I live in the GTA and am appalled that a group of American investors can destroy our province by creating a travesty like this. There is a huge pit on highway 5 going west in Hamilton and it is horrible to see. It is only a fraction the size of this proposal.

  • We are a small group of "farmers" in NB who are standing up against one of the largest mining companies in the world whose answer to why our wells went dry is "PROVE IT". Their removal of 7-11 million litres of water a day from underneath our village has nothing to do with it. A beautiful rural community to an industrial park in such a short time:( We now have 40 nat gas wells too so we are no strangers to the fun of fracking either) Keep on fighting!

  • FaCK OFF USA!!!! GET YOUR OWN FACKING LAND TO FACK UP!

  • Contact your representative at all levels of government and tell them you wont vote for anyone who doesn't work their hardest to make sure this does not happen.

  • a Harper majority will make this a lot harder to stop, i hope the NDP take this up as the official opposition

  • @phoboskitty

This is a local and Provincial matter. The Feds have no jurisdiction here whatever.

  • What seems to concern me in all of this is the lack of movement on the part of the municiple government. The feds and province will and should allow this level of government to make their own decisions. However, it appears that several municiple members have had to back away due to conflict of interest, mostly due to transfer of land holdings which they held to the Highland company.

This interferes with the normal check and balance that would otherwise be in place to facilitate due process.

  • THIS IS OUR LAND, OUR WATER, AND OUR WILDLIFE, AND CANADA WON'T LET THIS HAPPEN. AND IF THE PEOPLE IN THE US THINK THEY CAN SLASH AND BURN OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY BECAUSE THE ALREADY WASTED EVERYTHING IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, THEY'VE GOT A LOT TO LEARN!

    GO CANADA!

  • EVERYONE JOIN THE STOP THE QUARRY FACEBOOK GROUP!

  • And David Tilson basically says he can't do anything about this... what a joke.

How can the government not have a say as to what happens to our land, especially in his own riding. I will be disappointed if this quarry goes on and if David Tilson is our MP again because what has he done to try and stop the quarry except tell us that we need more evidence. Yeah he says he would support us, but where has the support been Mr.Tilson?

  • Hey Dyson, thanks you for making this!!! I have posted this to facebook, linked it to my videos and emailed it to friends. I live in Shelbunre and crated the protest walk videos. Could you accept the video response for me. Thanks so much. I will do the same for you.

    Thanks David

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Effective video in a good cause. Unfortunately, the makers have employed a scattergun approach in their argument. They would be better off to stick to the compelling eco arguments: prime farmland ruined when limestone is available in less sensitive areas. The makers do themselves a disservice by dragging in anti-US/big biz comments. Canadian mining companies are among the planet's biggest exploiters of other countries' resources. That's how global business works.

  • Makes me sick.

  • Thank you for the positive feedback.

I believe in free speech, i believe it can happen without insults or swearing.

So i removed your insulting language. If you care to articulate your arguments in a constructive manner, or if you would like to make a video to push your agenda I wholly support the idea. If your idea that trolling comment boxes with poorly illustrated points and absurdest comments is acting on your right to freespeech then I assume you know as much about freespeech as this issue

  • @dysonforbes Thank you for the video and supporting/ Respecting everyone's opinion to speak freely on this topic. We are looking forward here in KW to a good, honest, respectful discussion about this issue that brings us to a better and more resilient place of governance.

  • What I'm more concerned about is the fact that they used a Roots Manuva beat on this PSA! EPIC!!

  • Brilliant!!! Thanks for putting this together. We cannot trust Billion Dollar Bankers from Boston with our precious water and prime agricultural land (just 50 miles from the GTA). Make sure everyone sees this. Make sure your MPP sees this. Make sure Premier McGuinty sees this. The Province should step in right now and ensure that this special land will be protected from quarrying FOREVER.

  • It is a hostile corporate takeover of a British Protectorate . I wonder what the British Generals will say?

  • thanks to Dyson for putting this powerful video together. Impactful and chilling.

It'll take all of us to stop this, but we can do it!

  • Phenomenal video. Chillingly shows the impact to our beautiful water, land and landscapes. The only inaccuracy is that it is only Class 1 soil that would be affected. Other than that, it is tragically accurate! Please, Premier McGuinty don't let this happen!

  • cont'd

3 if the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization releases its hold on the land than that is the world leaders fault not just the Americans

4 it is highly doubtful that Americans would be the sole proprietor in this investment

5 it is not said where or for what purpose the 600,000,000 liters of water will be sent yet you capitalize on it.... twice

6 the trucks will deliver dirt to places that dirt will be used to help create foundations for homes

    mor cont..?

  • increases jobs, limits human growth

"Earth neither, as a whole, gains nor loses much matter, including water"

Americans do it because other countries are to pussy to not do it, now im not necessarily defending them in this sentience as much as i am saying that if another countries' businessmen weren't pussies that they would do the same.

    Now here i defend.

    1 it has not started

2 more than likely they will move the animals (mammals and reptiles, maybe fish? don't care bout fish)

    (will continue)

  • To @omenofluck - this project would be a travesty, no matter who did it. And how are you going to move the animals?

The water will be 'flushed' back into the ground, after standing for 3 days. 'Like a pump in your basement...' larger than Niagara Falls several times over... How credible is that? and where is the limestone filter it once had? Don't touch our water!

  • The proposed megaquarry will devastate one of the most beautiful regions of Ontario and threaten food and water supplies forever! Great video. Contact Premier Dalton McGuinty and urge him to reject Highland's application for the largest quarry in Canada. This area deserves protection from the Boston hedge fund and Highland.
