  • I can't see this as a first place performance.

  • its all become a dance people cutting stances and techniques to look gracefull for modern compitions another 20 yrs itll be a hybrid people just cant see it aprofessional dancer could copy and perform a kata in a month to high standard does that make him a fighter NO!!!!!!

  • I have a problem with his hikite. shouldn't it be pulled back a little bit more? shouldn't it be aligned to the spine? sorry, that's what my sensei taught me.

  • @anouni1713 ..you right , that's what it's should be.

  • @anouni1713 WHen the hips are on it should be poised at the side of the body (under shoulder) when hips are off the elbows should be in line, if your fist was in line with your spine it would make your shoulder unnecessarily tense

  • i see that everyone here is 10th dan grandmaster of karate from Okinawa. And this makes me sad...

  • Very very good! You are very fast!

  • The JKA grades kata on a ten element grading system. In 1654 when an Okinawan karate disciple wanted to remember applications he saw or envisioned and developed his own kata, do you think he cared about a grading system? I think he viewed the kata on whether the techniques were executed like a fight or not. Martial arts are systems of combat skills and karate is a martial art. Did you ever wonder where all this tournament junk came from? Ever wonder if it was not karate at all?

  • He's fast and very focused. I love it!

  • he is not arming properly , half arming and i've seen there some wrong fast moves (you have to watch closely to see those mastakes) his speed is great, nice positions...in total , a good kata

  • @DrugaEmil yeah actually he does many mistakes

  • @multiplecocco yep , i've said this is a good kata becouse i did not want people be against me , alot of Valdesi fans around...the truth is that he have a very good speed and positions.

  • @DrugaEmil I personally know Luca Valdesi, we both are from the same area in Sicily and we did training togheter before he was in the national team.. He is very powerful on his hips!

  • @multiplecocco I am from Romania (i'm in SKDUN federation) . Yes , very powerful on his hips indeed. He would be an awsome karateka if he would have more spirit. I see only dedication for The Sport Shotokan , not Spirit, Mind , Body of Shotokan.

  • @multiplecocco Since you said you know Luca personally, do you know what branch of Shotokan he practices? We don't hold our foot on the tip of our toes in that final bit and Jion is supposed to be shitei kata. It made me wonder. Cheers.

  • @ShotokanTigress Shotokan ryu is just Shotokan ryu, there is no branch about.

  • @multiplecocco I think I did not make my point clear enough. When I said branch I meant if he does JKA Shotokan, WKF Shotokan , etc. He must follow the rules of one federation or another.

  • @ShotokanTigress during teenagehood he was into 2 or 3 different federations, since he took in the national team he only runs WKF with.

  • hikete too high and not pulled in by shoulder blades. otherwise....... WAUW

  • @LECLUGER suggest anything better?

  • :D:D:D goood

  • at this level it's upset to see that some guys can't do a correct zenkutsu dashi and no kime

  • the best kata........

  • the best kata...

  • well the kata should more clear its a bit obscure otherwise good......... Should mitigate the speed level uptil a certain level.....

  • Good power but some of the stunts have been mistaken.

  • Now, THIS is more of a solid performance. Still, some of his movements are too flashy. However, overall this performance is very good.

  • GOOD SHOWMANSHIP 0000000000000SS

  • bravissimo...

  • Shortcuts??? don´t make laugh!!! Don´t give excuses to your own incompetence... it´s the most stupid thing that i ever heard in my life... jealus guys...

Every sport going to evolution!!! Every one!! 30 years ago runners complete 100m in 13 seconds. today, it is above 10 seconds. if you doing kata like assai, kanazawa, kagawa etc, you gonna loose and all around you laugh in your face!!!

  • @telecoo kanazawa can still kick this punks ass

  • Kanazawa fa schifo...

  • @succhia ok what the hell is ... fa schifo?

  • Am I the only person that doesn't like this? When I see, say, Asai or Kanazawa doing kata, I know that if their techniques connected with me I'd wake up in the next world. I don't think this guy's techniques would be any more effective than the next McDojo sensei judging from this kata if I'm perfectly honest. They just looked weak and rushed.

  • @feelmychi I agree 100%. He uses shortcuts to make his arm *look* faster. Then he has to delay beginning to move them because of the time it takes for his legs to catch up. I see jerky, weak technique. A much better YT version is the one by Yamaguchi (an Asai disciple) where you see more connected, powerful, complete and fluid technique.

  • is he doing strange arm movements ??

  • Valdelsi has got really solid katas. I always like seeing his kata performances.

  • Great!! Goin to film at Belgrade?

  • @jamonco1 Sorry... nope.

  • interesting that he uses a high hikite. i wonder why?

  • @asd748wsx for faster execution of punches as the technique is slightly shortened

  • @madgecic interesting. is this widespread in sport karate shotokan circles?

  • @asd748wsx Shorter distance between chamber and extended arm? = Faster?

  • @KARATEbyJesse Lol just saw that this had already been answered. And I think it's just a subconscious thing when you try to be real fast. :)

  • @asd748wsx

the arm take a linear position, so hikite is at the optimal position to generate the maximum of power and speed of execution

  • @asd748wsx biomechanics

  • @jrshoto007 truly enlightening...

  • @asd748wsx it SHOULD have been :)

  • @jrshoto007 except that it wasn't, because the word biomechanics does not say anything relating to my question :)

  • @asd748wsx exactly my point hehe

  • @jrshoto007 ugh... buddhists :p
