When I first read about these screens in my Popular Science mag, I was really impressed, and yes flabbergasted when Apple didn't use them in their iPads. What dummies. They sure missed that ship.

im getting the notion ink when it comes out. its the best shit you can buy. other shit is just a netbook with the screen flipped over. I wouldn't be suprised to find a keyboard under the LCD if you open it up bc its the same shit. The notion started as a tablet.

It appears also that the Pixel Qi is very comfy on the eyes. I have a glossy screen macbook, and it is really annoying and causes a lot of eye fatigue.

Looking good though. Cant wait to see one in the flesh. I'm curious as to how they compare(colour/contrast etc) to most lcds in the normal back lit mode rather than reflective.

My eyes die a horrible death with back lit displays so I am looking forward to the tech in a nice portable book friendly device.

The Pixel Qi screen isn't the same technology as the Ipad screen, The Pixel Qi is a refined version of the same type of screen as a Gameboy that uses the light of the Sun. You know companies can't produce a screen brighter than the Sun it would blind you. Comparing two completely different technologies is pointless. They should compare it with a Nintendo Handheld, because nintendo still uses the same technology since they launched the first Gameboy =D

according to Gizmodo a while back the iPad screen is "...more legible in sunlight than the iPhone, by far." which gives a the idea that something is wrong here, since they released a new video saying that the iPhone screen was better in sunlight..

Her thumb is close, but from where I understand the sensor to be it doesn't look like she's actually covering it. Besides if one really wanted to rig this they could have simply turned off auto brightness.

ok can someone explain to me what this sensor is? I imagine it's a light sensor that detects darkness and therefore brightens the screen up. If that's actually what the sensor is for, then what difference does covering it up do or don't do.

If it's covered up (to simulate darkness) to display at it's brightest setting and still can't beat the PixelQi screen doesn't that show just how poor the ipad is?

not only is she blocking the iPad Ambient light sensor, but also, why isn't there a video playing on the iPad as well to better show the screen? The iPad is not even ON past 0:28.
