@KRISSYKARMA You're right in the fact that it used to class 360p has HQ, but is definitely not that. There is a HUGE difference between 360p and 480p, I can hear the difference instantly. Its almost as if a switch has just been flicked that opens up the sound. Bass is tighter, and highs become much crisper. I cannot however, hear a difference between 480p and 720p.

@shigalbigal it IS 505 REAL watts. Well at least it's rated at 505W RMS, not the typical "peak" you see on cheap products (amps, subs, systems). If it is good enough to pass the fairly strict THX certification, it can't be TOO bad! Plus, it's aimed at computer users for movies, games and music, not stand-alone home theaters or $1500 audio systems -_- For what it offers, I don't think it can be beat. I have the old Z560, almost 10yr old and still love them!

You could hook up your "stand-alone home theater" (FOR 400$ - Sony) to your pc using a L/R>3,5mm or a 3,5mm>3,5mm cable directly :) it's better than the Z-5500

@MrMigs08 I've taken apart the sub and seen the amp, and I can say that it is easily capable of 505 sustained Watts. While I did not desolder the power regulators, which means they could easily be of very low output, there is a substantial number of them. If it isn't for 505W, then it is insanely overkill! Which you don't overspec a product you plan to make money on.

@Burban350 While it may be true, i've had a friend personally test them rated output and frequency range, and the Z-5500 has all sorts of strange areas in which levels of resistance spiral out of control, although i think he will perform an even deeper analysis soon,

I'm not faulting the z-5500 though, the most affordable 5.1's on the market, but the theoretical power they're claiming apparently isn't true, and from what i understand 505W would mean the amps HS would be unbelievably heavy.

@MrMigs08 no its not 500 REAL watts, its 505RMS. rms means max power on constant source without taking damage(so can 24/7 online). the sub can handle about 1100 peak watts, but starts to overheat and bottom-out after a few minutes/hours on boost mode.

Bei nahezu keinem PC subwoofer ist die Rede von wirklich gutem Bass.

Ich selber bin auch sehr mit zu frieden aber gibt kein vergleich zu nem sorgfälltig berechnetem BR geschweige denn Sub-Horn.

Mit der Sorgfalt im Selbstbau erreicht man schon ne ganze Ecke mehr als mit Logitech !

der Z-5500 is aber schon ganz OK aber für die Leistung schon relativ teuer

das z4 system ist ja mal absoluter misst das ist das reinste knirsch schreib system bei dem man sich dann noch unterhalten kann der bass ist auch schrott da die gehäuse nicht berechnet und die wände zu dünn sind besonders bei den sateliten die aus plastik sind! für 400€ krigt man sicher etwas besseres von teufel etc...

"Free airing" a sub allows it to reach it's maximum excursion. Yes, the audio goes to shit-ish and it's not as loud, but you get a better view of everything, and the max excursion. Plus, it makes killing subs easier.
