I have to say that I am terribly impressed with your "accidental" discovery of stuffing the chicken house!! What a fabulous idea! So are you putting morter on the inside and the outside? I would LOVE to come out there and work. I LOVE the country (Thankfully I DON`T live in the city) But we don`t have any animals. But when I get in colledge my mom wants to move out west with my dad and have goats for fun cause my mom loves the country too and she loves goats and chickens.

Another awesome video. It's really neat to see buildings coming together bit by bit. Keep up the great job. Will your straw stuffing walls be just as insulated as the straw bale walls? I have always thought the straw bale took up a whole lot of room and would take alot of straw. It's great to see how things can be done differently.

Thank you for all of your kind comments. The whole bales do take up a lot of room and depending where you live their expensive. Our first building we used over 100 bales at around $5.

In the midwest where grain is harvested straw is a lot cheaper but for here the stuffing method is better at least for out buildings. The larger barn only needed 19 bales and the hen house around 8 bales. The stuffing method does not give as much insulation but the buildings are not airtight anyway.
