Brother Ali is damn good person. Man, fuck Target and Wal-Mart for banning Brother Ali CD's because they're too "explicit", he doesn't fuckin' promote gangs, unlike some of the shit they sell. Brother Ali doesn't promote bad shit, the reason he's "explicit" is so people who listen to him know that either their life could be much worse, or if their life is horrible, that somebody feels empathy for them and represents them. Now I have to find off-brand stores to buy his CD's.
They're harder to find. But it's not just that, it's that people are misinterpreting Brother Ali. Yes, he talks about horrible shit that happens to people with vivid detail, but he talks about it like it's actually a bad thing and it's something that people need to overcome. Most rappers in the mainstream that people listen to promote it like it's glamorous, which is fucked up.
Also, the reason it concerns me me that Brother Ali CD's aren't sold in mainstream brand stores is that I want his messages to spread out into the world. Most people outside of Minnesota don't know who he is, hell, most people outside Minneapolis don't know who he is. All the rappers with shitty messages are being played too loud for anyone to hear the rappers with good messages. Although, I hope if Ali does get out there, he doesn't lose his roots like Ludacris has started to.

i personally think that brother ali's skin color is a gift. Hes albino, so nobody really knows what color he is. hes a sick ass MC and thats all there really is to it.

Brother Ali is damn good person. Man, fuck Target and Wal-Mart for banning Brother Ali CD's because they're too "explicit", he doesn't fuckin' promote gangs, unlike some of the shit they sell. Brother Ali doesn't promote bad shit, the reason he's "explicit" is so people who listen to him know that either their life could be much worse, or if their life is horrible, that somebody feels empathy for them and represents them. Now I have to find off-brand stores to buy his CD's.

They're harder to find. But it's not just that, it's that people are misinterpreting Brother Ali. Yes, he talks about horrible shit that happens to people with vivid detail, but he talks about it like it's actually a bad thing and it's something that people need to overcome. Most rappers in the mainstream that people listen to promote it like it's glamorous, which is fucked up.

Also, the reason it concerns me me that Brother Ali CD's aren't sold in mainstream brand stores is that I want his messages to spread out into the world. Most people outside of Minnesota don't know who he is, hell, most people outside Minneapolis don't know who he is. All the rappers with shitty messages are being played too loud for anyone to hear the rappers with good messages. Although, I hope if Ali does get out there, he doesn't lose his roots like Ludacris has started to.
