Interesting note: that finch didn't hear one thing you were saying. Research has shown that, even up to 10-14 days post-hatch, all birds cannot hear sounds in the frequency range of 2 KHz - 5 KHz unless they are 80 decibels loud, and anything higher/lower than that range requires even louder sounds. But they definitely felt your touch; that's how the bond is made.
They are not tame, none of our finches are. The babies were used to being handled by me since day one, but as soon as they started to fly, they no longer wanted to be touched or handled.
Wow! He\she is sooo cute :D...and it remembers me my baby zebra finches...they are competly like them and they are shoing their first sex signs:one of them is a male and one is a female!!!
Such an adorable little beeper. Wow--Only 14 days old at the time.
I have a male Grey Zebra finch with red cheeks, he's now 14 years old, still beeps, and still eats a scoop of bird seed each day, and uses the hollowed feeder box as his nest in the evenings.
pretty cute, the little one would probly do better on a harder surface where they could get a stance and push off a bit. the soft stuff sort of absorbs most of his undercarriage and he cant do much
They're all over a year old now. In this video they couldn't fly and I just had them on the bed for a few minutes to video and take photos. They have total free flight in the house now.
This is adorable and shows that you have a Soulful Sensitivity, unlike some 'human' beings (bunginggg) and their 'comments'..thank God there's an ocean Between those 'people' in the YUK and US..as for their 'music'.."kickin pidgeons" is neither 'amusing' nor 'entertaining'..however..the 'Y,D & FuLL of C' are WHAT they 'are'..
Thank you, JBME. I love my birdies like my own kids and I'm not ashamed to talk BABY TALK with them. They respond better when you talk softly to them.
We started off with just two finches. Now we have 7 and I'm pulling out the eggs as they lay them now. I can't handle any more. I also have a wood duck, 4 european starlings and 2 diamond doves, all flying free in the house. It's crazy here on a daily basis. LOL
I clean it up as soon as they poop. I have 19 birds now, 7 chickens, 9 ducks, a dog and cat, so I'm an expert at poop clean up and finches are really not that big of a deal when it comes to poop.
Aaaaawww :3 ♥ I like it!

Man! I don't get it! I have a 19 days old Zebra Finch and don't have even one feather! Just tiny pin feathers. Does anyone know what happen? :(
I rescued him because the mother stopped feeding the babies. He was the only surviver. Its my first time so I'm worry about it. Look healthy dough

That may be the quietest baby finch I've ever seen, mine would never be quiet and always hopped all over the place. Adorable little bip :)

when you carry one of your finches how do you teach them not poop on your hand? cause that happens to me alot of time......
hinatafan248 3 years ago
You can't really train them not to poop in your hand. They do it all the time, we just clean it up.
