May god save our glorious queen, maybe her majestic highness could rent you a room for 200 quid a night! And lesson your pain she is the defender of the faith hey what.
Thank you for highlighting what's going on in my old hometown 'Pompey'. I've lived abroad for 25 years and was back in Portsmouth last year for the 1st time in years - it felt strange to see the same problems as when I'd left in 1987 - like it hadn't moved on anywhere good in all those years. I'm fairly sure it was the bearded fellow I sat and had a chat with outside P+S train station - shared some Mexican fags I had with him - he seemed like a really decent bloke but without any possibilties.
As a former rough-sleeper myself, I have created a video where I to try to show that someone that you may see sleeping rough is still a human being and shouldn't be just written off, as they so commonly are, as beyond help or hope.
I beg everyone that views this video to share it with everyone else you know and to bring it to the attention of as many people as possible.
You may see it at youtube.com/watch?v=bg8vtVvjQsk or by just clicking on my account.
Uk is a 3rd world country! Im English sadley! Im back Off to Spain TO get out of Auswitz uk/THE WORK HOUSE OF THE NORTHERN HEMESPHERE. DISGUSTING CLASS SYSTEM WORSE THAN THE INDIAN CLASS SYSTEM
What a very bigotted and uneducated view. Most Christians I know are normal people who work hard for their money (in the western hemisphere) and in other countries, such as Africa they are some of the poorest people that exist.
Chrysler, compuware and a division of compuware called professional services all state no record of my employment.. witness lies under oath..watch my video to pressure them to end this injustice! google: blacklisted engineer to capture my video!
sad, this is really sad, if i ever won the lottery i would go around the streets and give them money to help them out, it should'nt have be like this in this world.
Affordable housing linked to employment is a probable answer. This was championed in the 19c by the more responsible industrialists (eg the sunlight village). It gives people a real start in life
this is to zp3n04 ok my comment was a bit harsh about the homeless but surely there must be something they can do to get of there backsides and get the help they need lots of people have a hard life but you have just got to get on with it may the world be a better place for all........

My god how is a homeless person meant to look??? Are you saying you should look down & out if your homeless? that any money you earn from selling the Big Issue shouln't be spent on clothes? Also she may be living in a hostel therefore having limited access to washing machine, etc.
The Big Issue is a good idea. I support the homeless who are prepared to support themselves. So if someone's playing some music or performing I'll give them some coins, or if they are selling the big issue.
But the absolute assholes who sit there saying, "Change please" really piss me off.
Well what about those of us who have no musical ability or any other talents? You want someone with an awful voice to stand there and sing for money???
it's all about survival. Homeless people need other people to make their lives easier. Other people do not need homeless people to make their lives easier.
Why should normal people HAVE to give up stuff for homeless people?
I respect the humanity argument, but what if everyone was a homeless drug addict? how would the world function?
Doesn't even look homeless? So you have never heard of homeless daycentres then where homeless people can go to get showers and laundry done. There are about 30 homeless daycentres in London alone and at least one in every major British town.
It doesn't matter if they refuse the bible I don't see how a book can get someone a house and don't take the piss out of them for not being religious. They could have been on the streets for a hell of a long time so maybe they can't read.
This documentry is absolutely shit. Im doing a media course at fareham college and i dare to say that this is one of the worse documentries i have ever seen in my entire life.
We offered them help, the Bible, everything. They refused. Now its their turn to repent. Let them rot in their liberal hell. As a Christian and a Republican, I urge all of you to vote NO to wasteful liberal welfare and social programs that refuse Biblical structure. Vote YES to faith based government and mandatory school prayer that could have prevented this.
you thik its so easy just to get a job and everything will be ok? even if youhave a job you still have to save for damage deposit and everything else... damn you ppl are so heartless
Yeah - with a prison record and no address you'd think it'd be easy wouldn't you? I'm surprised he isn't a chief executive. And he looks like he's over 40 - you'd think employers would be falling over themselves to give him a job.
in the UK, you need a fixed address to get a back account by law, you generally need a bank to get paid... aside from that you need a fixed address for tax and national insurance which is required by law, by being homeless you can't legally work... kind of a pit fall in the whole system eh?
that's how i heard it was here in the us, but weirdly, there are plenty of illegals who have jobs, so apparently, if one is cheap enough, he'll hire no matter what.
@xxvatarxx Yes, it all seems to be designed to keep people in the worst situations of their life and prevent them from ever getting up again. Unless one is big shot manager or politic- then crime and good income comes naturally and with no concequences..
I totally agree with Jimboola, you never see an asylum seeker on the streets & that IS a fact in portsmouth.A friend of myine is pragnant & just about to be kicked out on the streets, the council told her that they no longer put anyones name on the list unless they are completly homeless as the portsmouth waiting list on the council is 15,000 plus.there should NEVER be a list like that.
Anytime I see a homeless person on the street I offer them a drink. Not the alcholic kind though. This way there needs are met even for the very short time. I can't do much but I belive this does help.
its a tough one this.wht r they homeless...they get hostel places..and dont keep 2 the rules so there barred ..get housed from the council and they dont pay the 8 pound aweek from there giro..so there evicted...im not saying its there fault...but we shouldnt feel guilty as individuals they could do more for themselves...i think homeless people find it easier to blame every one else...but i hope god is on there side as i would never kick any one when there down..
yeah homeless people could do with more help, there not all that bad most of them.
p.s check out the user above LU1G1 he worked with me on the film and also has a great film under his profile about student life - its a very good short made entirely from still images.
that was bloody interesting. i pass those guys in the street everyday, and its really enlightening to actually hear them talk about themselves. can i ask are you students? or what was this done for?
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah im a student and had a small video unit to complete last semester so thought it would be interesting to talk to someone you wouldnt normally.

of course an asylum seeker gets housed within days. Not a racial point just a factual one.
